Excellent Carl really great , I installed that very seat a few months back and your so right about height and the sit up and beg angle , so I’m going to have to slow down your video and copy your cutting and welding job . Thank you so much , well done good luck 👍👍👍🏴🇬🇧🇨🇦
Nice looking conversion and a good idea with the passenger seat, I hated the fixed double in mine and decided to replace with a single, expensive but worth it for us. Have you ever contacted the manufacturer of those seats about that little mod, surprised nobody hasn’t had a serious injury with that. I remember you making that mod on previous conversion.
Great video Karl, I have one of these swivels on order and wondered about the height. A shame it is the only swivel base available for the Custom currently but you work with what you can get I guess. I have learnt from a few of your neat ideas and your download was helpful too. Thanks for putting these out there.
Just stripped my seat out and cut 65mm off the bottom of the legs ..be warned the factory welds are a pig to grind off and the seat design on this looks a wee bit different to my 2016 and it was a nightmare cutting the one angled bend tube to suit. 3 hours later and yes amazing difference. Make sure you are competent enough to carry this job out . The side plastic trims will need to be cut down too .
Did the same with my double seats and cut the base down to bring it level with the drivers seat. You can move the back seat support by about 5 degrees - there are 3 torx bolts hidden inside the foam that can be slackened off and then tilt the back and then tighten it back up.
Going to have to look into this! Always feel sorry for my wife on long trips being sat bolt upright! When you say hidden in the foam, is it accessible or do you have to take the backs of the seat off?
Hi Karl I’m about to chop my seat to make it lower ,iv just checked my KAD system and was wondering ,if you cut 65 off the front how much did you cut of the back to get your nice angle , and how did the swivel work after leaning it back . Thanks Karl loving the videos hope to see more soon 👍👍👍🏴🇬🇧🇨🇦
R&R bed and swivel seat, the first two things to get. My bed didn't have any of that. The Vivaro is a better van IMO and older vans are better too, mine is an 08.
Hello Karl May I ask, could you give me the measurements of the bed board in the pop top, only I am still awaiting delivery of my van and am ordering parts to do a self conversion. I want to cover the underside of the bedboard (ceiling of living area) with vinyl only I don't know what width of vinyl I need to buy. Many thanks in advance Roy
Hi. I have enjoyed watching your campervan build videos and saw that you used C&H campers to fit a pop top to a Ford Transit Custom. I have a Ford Transit Custom which I want a pop top fitted to and am considering who to use. Would you still recommend C&H Campers to fit a pop top, as they have mixed reviews online? Thanks. (I’ve also emailed you via your website in case you do not see this).
Hi! Great video. I have just installed my swivel base and I am having the same issues! I was looking at cutting the height down but can’t work out how you retain the front metal trim and the 2 plastic side trims as the seat will be lower and these will no longer fit? How did you overcome this please? Thanks. Tim
Hi sorry to bother you again! I am just getting to cutting the seat down and wanted to check a few things. I presume you cut the bottom off the steel front and the plastic sides?
A rib bed us much better. Access to underneath the bed is better. More rear storage at the back. More flexible in design. You sleep on the flat side and sit on the other side which is contoured like a normal seat. More expensive but very much worth it.
Did you have a issue with the front plate where installed your heals would be? If you lowered the legs would the plate not get lower then hitting the swivel?
Cracking video and explanations. You clearly know your stuff, the risks you are taking and can make your own choices etc though please consider some PPE, especially eye protection when grinding 🫣

Job with passanger seat was just brilliant 👌👏👏
another beautiful job done Karl, looking forward to seeing the next project 👍😁

Great Vid Karl. Just converted my van following your last few builds. Great tip thanks.
I trapped my fingers in one of those and it spoilt my day to a certain extent!

Another quality install, I wish I was that skilled and brave to take an angle grinder to brand new kit

@@jamesgreen1561 Same issue here with me. Did you figure this one out?
@@MrToremainn nope, she's still sat upright to this day 🤣 fortunately for her she doesn't spend as many hours on the road as me
Love the quality of your work nice one 👍🏼👍🏼

Nice job Karl 👍🏻🇨🇦
I went with a Captain chair… or as it turns out an Eastern European Driver’s seat.

Love it, proper old school lol, who needs PPE.
Can you buy those units with the drawer or are they your design?
Top work 👍🏼
I have the same problem with the high swivel Seat. Might cut and welt the Seat base.
You made it look to easy Carl. Is there anymore extra footage of cabinets being made and wiring and plumbing
So which van should we buy from your experience? ford or vw?
Love this guy amazing
Is that approved or legal just being bolted through body panels? I would expect it had to go into structural metalwork.
I just installed one of these swivel bases and thought the exact same..

Do you have design drawings for your furniture available.
Hi Carl what width seat is it ?, thank you 👍
How much would it cost to get a van done like this?

No I wouldn’t. The pop tops are ok but they are useless
@@KBeadle thanks for your reply and honest opinion.

Cut and weld the front one, cut and bolt the side ones

You pays ya money and you make ya choice
Hi Karl excellent channel. where you based ?
Stamford - I'm sure he won't mind me saying as I presume you're looking for help! Karl fitted my diesel heater & gas last summer!
Hi, Would you for a fee be prepared to cut down another chair? I have the same situation? I would bring it to you?
Did you have a issue with the front plate where installed your heals would be? If you lowered the legs would the plate not get lower then hitting the swivel?
i cut that down too

Are the swivel bases all that high?
Where is the bed from please Karl?

If you have a crash and those welds on the seat fail, you could be prosecuted if anyone gets injured or even worse, god forbid.
Those double seats are so uncomfortable that I have to book an appointment with the osteopath single passenger seat for me.
You could had just put self tapping screws to hold it down.
