hi, I was just wondering about your japonica x parishii. It looks roughly flowering size and if it were to flower it should flower this time of year or at least show signs of flowering. It might be one year away still but it looks like you grow exclusively under grow lights so what I was wondering is if you have been adjusting your light hours to get that one to bloom. It should be fairly adaptable and should have no problem flowering indoors - it should flower in spring as soon as light hours start to increase. If it doesn't receive this signal which it receives in nature naturally from the change of the sun in the sky then it might not flower for you. I was just wondering if you were actively providing that seasonality for your orchids. It's one of the few things I do throughout the year that makes me feel I am doing them some good and it's great to see them respond every year in response to my changes.
Hi there, I drop the light hours for the winter. However, now that you mention it, I do believe I’m a bit behind this year with the increase. So I’ll try that now. :) maybe I’ll get it to bloom this or the following year. My orchids goes to the balcony as soon as the night time temperatures are decent. It is glazed, but not insulated.
