Milne plays the first a bit too aristocratically for my taste. His control is superb, especially in the vivace where is rhythmic prowess is on full display, but I much prefer Medtner's own recording. It feels much warmer. No doubt that Milne is superhuman, though... his control and clarity in the second novelette is second to none.
I love this opus more and more, I would even say, that they are Medtner's best miniatures!
medtner always strikes me as one of the most interesting and inventive composers out there
@skylarlim-composer -- Yes....simply astounds....always.....BRAVO from Acapulco!
if only he was more well known
exactly
This opus is so superb, that I can't even express with words how beautifull it is!

Nice, I'm currently learning those pieces (haven't started the third one yet), they're a lot of fun
I have started to Play some Medtner for about a year and I find they all make lots of fun
Что вы подразумеваете под fun?
Александр Булатов Наверное здесь имелось в виду интересно, приятно, доставляющее удовольствие вследствие преодолеваемых трудностей.
@@AlexanderBulatoff😂 They're hard but musically, they pay a lot to both audience and performer
Wow
No. 3 is like a mini-Minacciosa
It is definitely one of Medtner's most intense pieces.
Hamish milne..could be an extension of Hamelin
