EEEEK! OK! So my bag is ALICE!!!!! I am absolutely over the moon with my sneaky surprise you sent me! Thanks ladies!!!!
You gals, what can I say! Coming from someone who has a very hectic life, (I'm a full time caregiver to my husband who is a disabled US Army Veteran, and my 3 kiddos) I just have to thank you. You remind me to think about myself sometimes, to appreciate the small things, and to laugh whenever I can.
You're a treasure for sure!
What you ladies do for small, WOMEN owned businesses is freaking amazing! I LOVE it and you both deserve an award for all the great promoting you do. So awesome...really ❤️
I have a chronic illness and live with constant pain and let me say, you two are the best medicine. Thank you for brightening my days.
Brenda Hemby we hope we can make you smile, Brenda. Sending you a big hug!!
Brenda Hemby please research bob beck (robert beck) protocol. Pain = gone. I have terminal bone cancer, and my friend terrible Lyme... pain = gone!

The first knit city I went to oh I was so taken I spent just under a grand in yarn didn't go for the next two years. So I totally know what its like with all the vendors and yarn its like Christmas. glad you guys had so much fun at your yarn event. love Coral
As an also avid quilter, I LOVE that quilt. a simple pattern made so WOW and unique....very creative! love watching you two!
OMGOSH! The Truck Stop minis! I am the wife of a retired truck driver - I spent a summer on the road coast to coast with him and ended up in so many truck stops!!!
You talked about receiving a giveaway really helping someone at a low point in their day/life. Your podcast does that for me each and every time...
M. Wooley That is such a lovely lovely compliment! Sending you hugs....
I have been knitting (U.S.) since I was 12. I will be 78 next week. The needles were sizes U.S. 2, 3, 4, etc. and I remember using mostly size 8. I think us older knitters just have our heels dug in on this and when I start a new pattern in mm's I have to go to my conversion chart to figure out what to do. Thanks for your great shows. Today's yarns were just amazing. One orangey one came with one of those large bags that had orange in it to match and it was heavenly. Thank you so much. Keep podcasting please!!
Margaret A Kingsbury I’m so sorry, I accidentally presses the thumbs down!!!! I wish UA-cam would change its location
You two are simply fabulous! I'm still cracking up long after your show! Much love to you both. ❤️❤️
I can look at Charlie Hunnam all day!!!!! I actually watch him every night in Sons of Anarchy and knit. Two of my favorite things.
Love the show and oh Canadian bacon, yummy. Beautiful yarn and protect bags. The shawls are amazing.
Love the beautiful things you shared today! The pink and gray shawl was gorgeous
You should make the Canada knit along a crochet along as well. Love your podcast!
yay I'm so happy now my night is complete I get to watch the grocery girls love you guys
I was so thrilled to see the Pride bag, and to hear that you're donating some of the proceeds to your local LGBT centre. WAY TO GO, JODI! Another great episode, as always.
Keep being awesome!
Ladies, I've got new for you-this is a universal problem. Logic and reason totally flies out of the mind when presented with a smorgasbord of fibre. You are not alone people! Love the podcast-never had so much temptation thrust at me all at once! (in a good way)
Amazing podcast! I love looking at all the yarn and stitch markers and and and! It was like looking at a candy store! You got some awesome colorways and I've now got a sheet of paper full of new yarn dyers to check out! Your finished Bendy Arrow's were gorgeous. And I can't wait to see the sweaters and shawl that will all that yarn. Thank for the eye candy feast! Love your joy and happiness in all the crafty things. And yes I'm one of the ones that always loves to see Ozzie! I would love to see him after he's all groomed and gorgeous! Take care.
Enjoy the bags, you lovely ladies! 😘❤️
Thanks ladies for another terrific podcast. Two mentions- First, the ChiaoGoo needles to which you refer are, I believe, the MINI Twist as their small and large interchangeable are also called Twist. On the needle/hook size differences, the U.S., outside of science, has always been on a "Standard or Customary" system. Many years ago there was a push to make the switch to metric to keep in line with the rest of the world. Many feasibility studies were done to the conclusion it would be too costly. Requiring a system wide change was to be mandatory and would cost many small businesses more than they could afford. So, in a regulatory way is has not been mandated. However, that doesn't mean needle/ hook makers can't make a switch and in fact most do list both metric and standard size references. You can imagine (I'm seeing my grandmother right now) many long time knitters and crocheters in the U.S. being quite confused if their numbers/letters just disappeared.
Loving the joji mystery knit soooooo much!!!! I've already purchased yarn to knit it alllll over again in a different colour scheme... loveboth your shawls yarns picks .
What a lovey way to spend my morning!! Sooooo many amazing yarns. I'm not sure I'll ever let myself go to a fibre festival because I'd be just like you Tracie. Also I'm moving close to Amsterdam in a couple of months so when you come back you have to let me know.
Gemma F Beware the haphazard purchases 😂....its all so much fun though. Enjoy Amsterdam....its so charming and beautiful with lovely people. Also my daughter misses the fresh fries in a paper cone. 😁
I love how supportive you are of local makers! I'm hoping to see even more of them at KnitCity this year. 😊
Stopped the video and hopped over to Ravelry to buy the Bendy Arrow. Thanks for the enabling, ladies!
I thoroughly enjoy your videos. Thank you for sharing!
Girls, I live in Argentina. I love listening to you while I mark my kids's test, while I knit Joji's mystery kal and while I do a bit of yoga stretching!!!!! Thanks for such wonderful podcasts!!!!!!!!🙏🏻🙌🏻📿🌵🐉💕
I'm with you on Amsterdam, Tracie. If I had to leave the US. I wouldn't think twice about relocating to Amsterdam.
I'm totally with you ladies on Charlie! I am so in love with that man!! 😍😍😍😍
lol I had to keep stopping podcast to buy yarn and add people to Instagram. 😂. Thanks for an awesome show !!!
That quilt is AMAZING!!!
"OMG that is so soft"-Jody
"It must be cashmere"-Tracie
It must be cashmere is my answer to every question now! LOL
Binge watching you guys this afternoon!
💜
Thank you for coming around and visiting and shopping local. And a big, big thank you for the blush-inducing compliments regarding my handspun and the Alberta Yarn Project booth.
Love love love the way you talk about yarn. Capture completely how I feel about yarn. Such a great podcast.
Holy crap - I laughed so hard through this one. Thank you for making my week! And definitely go see King Arthur! It was great. I don't get the bad reviews. Awesome and yes - Charlie is worth the price of admission alone. :)
Loved every minute! Gorgeous yarn, bags, stitch markers and party mail😊
US sizing is THE WORST. It's not even consistent from brand to brand unless the brand sells in other countries as well as the US. As a US knitter I am not offended and I wish we would give up the US sizing and go full metric so that we could have a touch of consistency!
Love your show! We gush about you girls on our podcast, Sal & Al: The Woolslayers :-)
Sallie Wren ///we would love all metric, it just seems to make sense to us. Also....Hi there!! We will check out your podcast, thanks for letting us know! 😊
Grocery Girls Knit That would be amazing! Thanks for the inspiration ♥️
My husband is an engineer and he wishes the same, why do we not use Metric?? Makes no sense.
I'm not a knitter per se. I can knit a scarf. Not much else. I'm an avid crocheter. But you've inspired me to try!!! Love the shawls!!!
no early bedtime for me. my girls are on!!!!!!
Why so many shawls? Love your videos and I do look forward to them.
Great podcast ladies. Loved seeing your treasures. The time in between your podcasts is very similar to "Droughtlander" :).
LOVE the quilt!!!
The shawl is amazing.
I was knitting a lace section of the Joji Mystery KAL while watching this episode and I'll be frogging that later today because I had to stop knitting and looking at all the beautiful yarns! It was totally worth it.
We can't really be expected to know what a millimeter is. Can we? *giggles* It's probably a yarn council thing. Whenever there is a question about yarn it usually comes down to the "Yarn Council" wasn't prepared for the future. Im making a bendy arrow and just LOVED seeing yours. I am now going to fast forward through it because I need to wear it.
YOU GUYS!! Thank you so much for the wonderful review and shoutout!! Also: the Bendy Arrows are looking fantastic and I am shamefully excited about King Arthur ;)
Renee Callahan
Thank YOU so much, Renee. Your stunning pattern collection has us wanting every single piece !
And as far as King Arthur goes.....it will not disappoint (you're welcome!) LOL 😂
Oh what a great way to end a wonderful Tuesday...thank you for being you and for this beautiful podcast. Hope ya'll enjoyed your long weekend. I smelled that wool wash and it smelled like cinnamon rolls ( I truly loved how you put it up to the camera for us to smell Tracie.).
I absolutely do and that is what makes me keep watching these podcasts your gloriously beautiful human self. I dug it!!! OxoxoX
GIRLS ! ENJOYED YOUR PODCASTS AND ALL THOSE GOODIES YUMMY!! SO MUCH TALENT AND AWESOME YARNS.
I wish I could watch this episode but I have a problem starting things in the middle so I am watching all your podcast from the very first one in order. Enjoying each one but I also kind of want to be current. I think I may have to do a Grocery Girls marathon this weekend!!!
THANK YOU for the June theme! Might actually get socks for my hubby done ;)
LOVED that you spoke up about colors being gendered and how messed up that can be...colors are for everyone and gender is a spectrum!!! 🏳️🌈 Thanks, sistas!
HEHEHEHEHHEHEHEH LOVE YOU GIRLS SO MUCH!!! Your like my long lost sisters I never had. Awesome show as always. Oh yeah love both of your Bendy Arrow shawls. I have to do that one.
myfairytreasures its a great pattern!! Addictive and fun...cast one on!!
That quilt is AMAZING!!! I would love something like that for my bed... since I keep saying I'll knit/crochet something but it'll take wayyyy longer than sewing it.
You should totally sell that as a kit! (like the stack of squares and suggestions on what else to add) ;D
Amen, from this American, on the knitting needle sizes! To me, it's stupid to have a size on a needle other than the actual measurement.
I was wondering where you two have been! 👏🏼💕🙋🏻
Wish I had friends like y'all...
Knitting for 57 years here in the US and I think a basic reason for US sizing remaining the old standard is the sheer size of our market. But...my 20-something kids learned the metric system and will be fine if the needle makers switched now. It's a massive undertaking to convert a whole nation.
I remember when the UK switched, the older folks had to be "grandfathered" in as they still measured in inches!
I knitted whippoorwill shawl in Twisted Fibre Evolution Merino in Newton which I think is colourway you showed. I wore on 27 May to Auckland Wool fest. I got soooooo many compliments. can only purchase online so a novelty here in New Zealand.
Thanks, such a fun podcast 😘
Tracie, I love your shirt! :)
i love those bowls! And Jodi you could so sell kits to that quilt you made!
Jane Ferguson I had the same idea for a Mrs. Browns Bags Quilt kit"!
Jodi I love your 'knit' patchwork quilt. It is so Beautiful. Thoroughly enjoyed the episode. You have saved my sanity today. Kids are driving me crazy. Can I run away to Edmonton and have craft day with you?
OMG I love blackberry jam (lolodidit)! We have to convince her make it available again! I can totally see a sweater with that color.
Hi Girls, the UK had needles sized by number before the US, starting with the highest number for the smallest needle where the US uses the smallest number for the smallest needle. I sure like an all metric system. I can guess that when needles were originally designed, engineering wasn't quite as exact as it is now so the needles were machined with a tolerance that gave the machine shops a little fudge factor. in fact, the original needles were probably whittled. And fewer needles were required so folks just numbered them. Now, the metric is perfect because machine shops can make very precise measurements, if they want to. The metric system makes so much sense but were fighting history and changing will cost money. If you keep using metric, US knitters will keep up. By the way, the crochet hooks in the US use letters instead of metric as well. The smallest hook is a B or C.
I fell in love with your podcast the very first time I stumbled upon it. I'm a new knitter and the more I watch you the more I want to learn how to knit a socks. I just ordered my first 9" circular knitting needle to learn. You're my favorite.
Anita B Thank you so much, Anita! Hope you love the sock knittting as much as we do :)
Tracie's I think there is the numerical system for US because we STILL aren't using the metric system here...I wish we'd switch already ! I learned metric/inches measurements as a child.
I just hopped over to knitty by nature Etsy shop and got the crochet is my jam and knitting is my jam project buttons. thanks
Grocery Girls Knit yes it is. By the way have you heard of Kai this 20 year old podcaster out of Las Vegas called The Crochet Company. I love her enthusiasm and hunger to learn.
loooooooooooooooooooooove the quilt
ShiaGoo does have the needles where they are fixed on the needles too.
Jodi, here's an idea for a crochet a long - Hotel of Bees Shawl by Christina Hadderingh. Ive been wanting to cast that on and a CAL would be fun.
Yes Tracie! Yes! Why do we use numbers and letters?! I'm an avid crocheter and have zero clue what letter my hooks are because I only know their metric size and I'm an American! I hate being told letters, especially as different hook make their various letter sizes different mm sizes.
you rock girls!!
Jodi, now we all want a quilt like yours. Would you ever think about selling collections of your fabric squares??
Just to let you know girls, your brain actually releases chemicals to wake you up around 0530 am, so you are perfect in yet another way!!!! Those mitts are dreamy!
Nice quilt!! I'm on quilting hiatus...Ill be back though!
As always is a pleasure to to watch wat u gorgs get in to jody u rock are u gonna start making big project bags im interested both of u rock
I love your comment on US sizing needles. It's always confused me! I actually ordered the wrong size because i was looking at the US size.
Charlie Hunnan so cute! Made Sons of Anarchy watchable!
I would love to join your mail box party! Happy Knitting
Oh yea a few more things(I'm so crazy). Jodi that quilt you made your mother is everything!!!!! And Tracie the shawl you made your mother was gorgeous. Also I wanted to know if leg warmers can be entered in the sock knit a long? I'm a knew knitter so I've been doing a lot of these. I would love to send some projects bags in for prizes I just need to know where to send them. Love you girls love the show.
I'm from the US but I don't use the US number sizes. I only go by the metric measurement sizing for all my needles. My crochet hooks, too, actually. In fact, it even seems like US number/letter sizes can be different between different brands, but the metric measurement is always the same, so that's all I ever go by.
i am just started getting back into knitting and i would like to knit an easy first time shaw all one color. Any idea of where i can find a beginner pattern/kit? i love your podcast. someone i work with got me hooked on it and happy she did.
You ladies are dangerous. SO much f***ing fun!... and soooo dangerous. lol
Yes, Sallie, remember when we were supposed to go metric and didn't. I was kinda disappointed that we didn't. Americans are very resistant to change.
How do you block your shawls? Pins or wires?? Beautiful finished objects.
My guess for US sizing is cause we don't use the metric system. I'm honestly just as flabbergasted by the mm as you are by the 1.5, Tracie! 😂
That beautiful Twisted fingering 80/10/10 500 yard skein is $78 US!
"In the UK, knitting needle 'numbers' are the Standard Wire Gauge designation of the wire from which metal needles are made. The origin of the numbering system is uncertain but it is thought that needle numbers are based on the number of increasingly fine dies that the wire has to be drawn through. In the UK, then, thinner needles thus have a larger number, whereas in the US the opposite applies. (Wikipedia)" There doesn't seem to be much documentation with regards to US sizing. Cheers!
Some of us who have been knitting since the beginning of time have always referred to our needles in US numeric. I know the world is metric and we (US) are different but I think it's all about what we are used to. We are all about inches and yards as well. I'm not saying it's right; I'm just saying it's comfortable, for us, but no one else.
Why are the Americans the only ones who still use imperial measurements. I'm from the UK and find it difficult as American sizes don't match the old UK sizes. Much prefer metric - makes sense to put the actual measurement on the needle. Lovely relaxing podcast keeps me cheerful. Thank you ladies.
Ladies you still have time to enter in your Bendy Arrows to the A Tale Of Two Knitters KAL. They are holding it open until June 12. I think it's time you generous ladies won something too! I was lucky to receive goodies from you last year on your Instagram Giveaway so I know how good it feels. Thanks again by the way LOL
one reason they may bring out the cords and the tips separate from the sets is that maybe, i could be wrong, but maybe its when one of your cords wear out, or gets damaged, you can buy another without having to buy a set.
what was the twisted fiber arts yarn that had the pink in the center? I cant find it on their site.
Where can I find the notes for this podcast? Do you list all the vendors mentioned?
hi..i love your podcast..please tell me where is the best place to order the chiaogo circular needles thanks Barbara
So love your field trips. My only suggestion would maybe be a lapel mic or something.I couldn't hear everything, and I so desperately wanted to. Loved seeing it though.
Note too self : go too Toronto fibre folic next year ! , Jodi is that size bag going into your shop?
I want to win, thank you donors. thank you ladies
I love your show! All the yarn is just fabulous. If you think this fibre show was hard to control your purchases, wait till you get to Rhinebeck! It is so amazing! The vendors have yarn you cannot even imagine the beauty and quality. Just leave your clothes behind at the end of the trip and pack your yarn instead.
