I love the aesthetic and that RGG is once again trying something new with the time period. There's a lot of ways they could take this new IP and I'm exciting to see what they cook up.
Masaru Watase said in Y7 at the speech that the Omi is a little over than 100 years old. Y7 takes place in 2019. The date of the founding of the Tojo is unspecified, but it's a safe bet that they'd be founded around the same time. The timeline lines up perfectly more or less. It seems they want to do a more dark, brutal game with a protagonist who kills but not in modern times, like Ishin and Kenzan. I would love if the protagonist is Makoto Tojo, that's one of my dream RGG games. If this game is about the founding of the Tojo and Omi, I'm afraid it'll be too peak to contain. I'm a history buff myself so the 1915 setting already pulls me in. Now Project Century as a name doesn't seem like it's the final title to me, the game isn't on Steam or anything either so it's definitely quite early in development. I feel if they made a game that doesn't have Yakuza/LAD in its name, it'd still tie into Yakuza in the lore (captures new fans + existing fans), this has also sorta been their approach for a while now, with the whole "this game is the perfect starting point!" (cough cough Gaiden cough cough IW). Project Century could potentially be multiple games, spanning across the 20th century to fill in that timeline in a more brutal setting, which I'd be all in on personally. I may be talking too much tho and this may be something completely different, but logically speaking it would make sense for them to still tie this into the mainline Yakuza games. Also am I the only one who immediately recognized that it was the Dragon Engine and knew it was an RGG game? Am I cooked?
I would love it if this Project Century game be a completely different and unrelated game than Yakuza or Judgment, with slightly different combat style that we usually got (judging from the trailer, the combat is gonna be more grounded than the usual flashy thing we got in Yakuza or JE). I just want RGG to try something new and fresh and not bound with all the past stories they've made so far
I think the area that they show at the beginning of the trailer looks a bit like Kamaroucho because there was a building in the far distance that looked like the soapland before it was demolished😄
Man what an exciting way to bring rgg into the next gen. They really seem to have upgraded so much in really smart ways. The combat especially looks really interesting and deep
So I'm not about to claim Project Century will be a RGG souls-like because that just wouldn't work with what looks like traditional RGG style open map buuuut at the same time the combat at the very least gives some of those vibes with more deliberate/choreographed enemy attacks and the dodging and parrying (against a very large dude), so I'm wondering if it will play more that way, combat-wise, a bit more timing, less mashy kind of thing. Would be interesting.
It'll be really cool if Project Century is it's own thing, but there is a building that looks suspiciously similar to Shangri-la, so it may be an earlier Kamurocho, when the yakuza is first getting big in that area. Either way, its gonna be absolute peak.
@@cheeseball2967 I think it would be cool if it wasn’t connected i like the idea of something new. They made a game called binary domain and that shit was so hard.

I've seen comments from people saying the new protagonist looks like Kazuki Kitamura which I can kind of see. Have to see where they choose to take this new IP. I expect this is a few years out still given everything else they are working on.
It might not necessarily be a new IP, I wouldn’t be shocked if they reveal the official title as “Birth of a Dragon” or something and it’s about Tojo Clan origins. Either way, very excited! Also, Kiryu was technically in the game of the year, so. Hell yeah
The Shenmue - Yakuza pipeline folks are gonne be even louder with Virtua Fighter, doggone it lol Jokes aside, this looks hype! ESPECIALLY excited for Project Century.
I genuinely thought it was Sleeping Dogs at first, it kinda has that style, but then I saw the big guy and was like “Oh shit is this a new RGG game??!!” lol Also VIRTUA FIGHTER AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
11:10 i get Shangri La vibes when i look at this building.... also if this combat footage is part of the game and kinda looks like slower paced souls like combat(dont kill me for what i've said)
This actually reminds me of Judgement and Sleeping Dogs. Everything is grounded (except the 7 foot tall dude) and the combat is brutal and messy in a cool way. Really glad that RGG doesn't pivot to the absurd all the way, and still willing to bring the old flavor back
in terms of gameplay, I get the impression that they're trying to match the old system with the heaviness of Sleeping Dogs moves, so let's see what happens with the controller in hand.
@ashainfinity8852 I was really dissapointed with Like a Dragon Infinite Wealth which in my opinion had too much over the top action .. fighting gigantic creatures for example and even action being too " Animé " if that makes any sense ? I liked the grounded aspect of Yakuza more, the Original Like a Dragon was perfectly balanced in my opinion and i liked the smaller group and area so much more than what we got in Infinite Wealth .. The plot of Infinite Wealth never engaged me as much as 7 or 0 to give an example. I hope 1915 is its own IP , it seems more grounded from the very little we have seen but i dont know .. even Like a Dragon Ishin seemed to me more serious than the last Games RGG are coming out with. I hope this IP is more focused on tragic/criminal stories, Mafia The Old Country is definitely the Game which had all my attention and the one i am really excited about ( speaking of Criminal games ). Sorry for my english !

Fight scenes made me think like it will be a souls-like-ish game. It looks good, but I didn't like the camera shake. Of course it is too early to talk since it is possible that the game would be different to some extend from this footage. I'm waiting for this game. And please a new Judgment game...
I have a feeling this new IP is gonna test the new dragon engine (like some media said RGG gonna make new dragon engine) if that's true. Yakuza kiwami 3 gonna be awesome! And wait, i see this video reaction on devileon8, and it's upload on devileon7. Are you steal his video?! 🤬
I mean the graphics dont really look any different if you compare it to the pirate yakuza trailers it all looks extremely similar characters, textures, lighting, the physics and animations have been massively improved though
Could this possibly be the sequel to Ishin?? While too old to be Ryoma Sakamoto's son, the protag *could* be the grandson. Lets say Ryoma has a kid in 1870 (around the time of the story): his son turns 25 at about 1895, when he (or she) has a child (hero) that turns 20 in 1915.

Demolished by majima construction 😂😂😂
@eieneidnf 😆
is the virtua fighter guy in the fedora just Takaya Kuroda?
WE ARE PEAKING
Man what an exciting way to bring rgg into the next gen. They really seem to have upgraded so much in really smart ways. The combat especially looks really interesting and deep
I'm happy that Virtua Fighter is finally returning alongside the main Japanese voice cast!
omg project century reminds me of LA Noire cancelled sequel. or the original version of Indiana Jones Staff of Kings. RGG can't stop cooking 🔥🔥🔥
Can't wait what Project Century has for us to see!!! That looks interesting!!! 😮😮
😮 this looks like everything that RGG was against. very interesting. Can’t wait to see how it turn out might be connected maybe to Yakuxa who knows 😅
That is exactly what I was thinking but I’m all good with this direction lol
it's the perfect time to answer some questions of the main series. I refuse to think it's not connected
it would be funny if they name this guy Ryuki he did what Kiryu doesn't
@@cheeseball2967 I think it would be cool if it wasn’t connected i like the idea of something new. They made a game called binary domain and that shit was so hard.
THEY CAN'T STOP COOKING!! 🔥 RGG 2025 SWEEP BABY!
Crazy how we are getting a solo haruka game before seeing tanimura again
RGG Game where the protag kills people??? XD
Seems that way! Or it might just be a gameplay thing once again :D
@ maybe they had rubber knives in 1915
Rubber bloods, rubber crowbar, rubber knives
No Kenshiro mention???
if the game let you kill people in the open world gta 6 is cooked
Ngl my first thought watching this trailer was, " yoo it's like a yakuza game but if it had good graphics," then the rgg logo popped up and I freaked tf out
I think rgg studios kinda wrote themselves into a wall with 8 and are choosing to start something fresh until they figure something out cuz they're totally going to use Kiryu again
Wheel chair upgrade tree
This is the dumbest thing I have ever heard.
I don't think they wrote themselves in a wall, i just think they have no more excuses to use kiryu, and i hope that they end their commitment issues and go for ichiban full time lol
@@joshuabrien2970😂😂😂
Lmao what are you even talking about 😭😭
I think the new IP is going to be like Judgment, in that it's in the same universe. I would not be surprised to see if we hear allusions to the Tojo. Hell, that district might be Showa-era Kamurocho.
Fans: Oh no, RGG Studios didn't win an award again
RGG Studios: So that's how it is huh? In that case... we are ready to cook 2 new games, update VF5 and all that before Pirate Yakuza is even out.
Fans: WAIT WH-
the new ip completely caught me off gaurd, insane
Noir-Asian fusion? Now that's cool, there onto something with this.
Am look forward to it been a while since we saw an original project by rgg
This will be interesting to play since when i really think about it, i dont know much about japan from 1910's or so. Since all the history really focuses on the great war in europe.
Surely karaoke exist in this since it allready exist in Ishin era ;D
The judgment series needs at least one more game, makin it a trilogy or maybe even continue it with Kaito as the new protagonist would be perfect imo
I've seen comments from people saying the new protagonist looks like Kazuki Kitamura which I can kind of see. Have to see where they choose to take this new IP. I expect this is a few years out still given everything else they are working on.
ah, John Gotoku in the flesh
It might not necessarily be a new IP, I wouldn’t be shocked if they reveal the official title as “Birth of a Dragon” or something and it’s about Tojo Clan origins. Either way, very excited! Also, Kiryu was technically in the game of the year, so. Hell yeah
I really hope Century is good (i'm sure it will be). If it truly is the series that replaces Judgment, i'll be pissed if it sucks.
I can't wait let's go!!!!!!!
Okay, so i'm not the only one who thought that building was Shangri-La.
New game looks very Sleeping Dogs-esque, very much looking forward to it
This looks very interesting!
This new game looks like if Sifu had a bigger budget
The Shenmue - Yakuza pipeline folks are gonne be even louder with Virtua Fighter, doggone it lol
Jokes aside, this looks hype! ESPECIALLY excited for Project Century.
Can they slow down? I need to finish Infinite Wealth at first but i'm excited about the new IP.
they're a yearly studio, they cant slow down
This doesn't even have a release year, I wouldnt worry about it, could take 2 years to come out
I genuinely thought it was Sleeping Dogs at first, it kinda has that style, but then I saw the big guy and was like “Oh shit is this a new RGG game??!!” lol
Also VIRTUA FIGHTER AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
WOW WHAT A REACTION
11:10 i get Shangri La vibes when i look at this building....
also if this combat footage is part of the game and kinda looks like slower paced souls like combat(dont kill me for what i've said)
Now work with me here.
Imagine an RGG game. Open world. But in the style of say, Kung Fu Hustle..
That be a 💰💰💰 game.
To me this game looks a lot more violent and bloody than the Yakuza games.
Maybeeee just Maybe it is the story of Makoto Tojo...
all i hope is that this doesnt mean no judgment 3
Us rgg fans are eating, first the Mahima pirate game, then the new Virtua fighter and project century, rgg is cooking a whole ass all you can eat buffet🙏
Fight scenes made me think like it will be a souls-like-ish game. It looks good, but I didn't like the camera shake. Of course it is too early to talk since it is possible that the game would be different to some extend from this footage. I'm waiting for this game. And please a new Judgment game...
Souls games are the only thing you play because its nothing like the simple combat those games have its very sifu like
I have a feeling this new IP is gonna test the new dragon engine (like some media said RGG gonna make new dragon engine) if that's true.
My big question is, trademark, on the jacket, why?
Could this possibly be the sequel to Ishin?? While too old to be Ryoma Sakamoto's son, the protag *could* be the grandson. Lets say Ryoma has a kid in 1870 (around the time of the story): his son turns 25 at about 1895, when he (or she) has a child (hero) that turns 20 in 1915.
Someone did point out that the main guy looks similar to the actor of Kiryu Kazuma in the 2007 movie. So this could maybe be like Kiryu Great Grandfather
