I crewed on this ship as a bassist, on it’s first cruise from California to Puerto Rico… It was a truly beautiful ship, with classic, graceful lines, unlike most of these atrocities, that look more like seagoing apartment buildings, floating on their side. The entire kitchen staff was Italian, hence, the food was excellent, even for the crew. Of all the ships I’ve crewed on, this was my favorite. It was a wonderful experience!
My Favorite ship EVER!!!!! She is amazing and one of a kind. Last I heard she was called the Artania. She was a joy to sail on in the 80's and 90's. If I could find a cruise, I'd sail on her again! Love live the ORIGINAL Royal Princess!!
When they got rid of the Royal it was still considered their flagship. Cruise fares were substantially higher than on their other ships. It is a shame they don't realize there is still a market for this type of cruise. I never sailed her; wish I had.
While this is certainly an old promo video, it’s unlikely it’s from 1984. I’m thinking more mid 90’s especially considering the digital displays on the slot machines at minute 3:05
The description says the video is from the mid 90s. The uploader put 1984 in the title because this is the Royal Princess of 1984. This was probably to distinguish it from the current Royal Princess of 2013.

I saw her on her maiden voyage to Alaska. Beautiful ship. God she's almost 40 yrs old now yikes soon to be scrapped . I hope not. But time flies
