More proof that HOA's sole purpose for existing is to spread as much misery as possible.
People need to stop buying houses in those communities
Can't abolish the HOA when they brand themselves like the government do 😅
Collect as much money as possible. The question is, what is the money used for since it's not a government entity.
Their original purpose was to exclude poor, Black and Asian people from upscale white neighbourhoods.

I told my last realtor: _"Don't even bother showing me a house in an HOA. I don't care how the attractive the house or the price. If it's in an HOA, the deal is off."_
Told a realtor the same thing. First house she shows me was in an HOA. Fired her, and never did buy a house.
A couple of years ago a young couple moved into my neighborhood and tried to start an HOA. It didn't go well and they couldn't understand why no one wanted it. None of the neighbors wanted to be told what they could and couldn't do with their homes and yards. The couple didn't stay here very long.
HOA is a nightmare 😢
Same here, but the dumb POS absolutely refused to show me anything BUT HOA homes. Told her to piss off and never contact me again. Is there some sort of secret kickback or something that these agents are getting if they ignore the client's wishes and try to push people into buying HOA homes? It's just weird AF to die on that hill IMO. I'd rather have a sale.
@@margaretdimick2096 Yeh we had the same thing happen, I think I was on of only a few holdouts that "ruined it for everyone else". They settled for starting a Facebook group and trying to shame people into doing what they want. That isn't working for them either.
HOA's are just ridiculous.
There was a lady just today in my neighborhood driving slowly by each house taking pictures of everyone's front yards, they just forced people to repaint their houses recently - we paid almost $5,000 to have the house repainted. Never buy a house with HOA.
This made my blood boil. Power and control where power and control isn’t warranted or beneficial. Get a life, folks. This HOA is blind and should be very, very ashamed. I grew up in an OPTIONAL HOA that cost practically nothing - maybe $20/year max. They had no control over anything anyone did with their homes and acted as a vehicle to bring the community to together and represent our community to larger government organizations. The cost barely covered the printing of a campy newsletter informing residents of everything going on in the area like events, crime, and promoting local businesses. Those HOA volunteers would go to bat for our community against any big government program that affected the integrity of the community in a second. That’s what an HOA should be. All the volunteers had full time jobs and had no interest in policing their neighbors over petty BS. If I was caught passing out water, the HOA president would go to Costco and bring me more and say “keep up the good work”. LIKE ANY DECENT HUMAN BEING.

I used to live in that neighborhood with that HOA. Why did this become an issue recently? Because the HOA wants money and these fines are a great way to get an extra $100 every once in awhile to help the HOA pay their expenses. Advice: Get all the neighbors to go to the next few HOA meetings and the HOA will back off.
On the other hand, the home owners can just vote to change the HOA rules to make this not a violation.
But on the other, other hand, it is illegal in the state of Arizona to deny someone water. HOA’s can do whatever they want within the limits of the actual law. This may be a violation of Arizona law. I’m in Ottawa, Ontario, and a friend, a woman of 80+, recently got a letter from the city saying ‘someone’ (either a mistake, or a Karen) complained that her backyard was full of garbage, and the grass was uncut. This friend, who is meticulous about her property, was stressed out and couldn’t believe anyone would do such a thing. Even though her place is nicer than 95% of the homes around here, the city gave her a hard time, and I am unsure if they actually sent out a bylaw officer to check it out first. Guessing not.
