In this Italy travel guide video, we show you why you must visit Puglia and some of the best things to do in Italy. After our Salento travel vlogs we headed to a different part of Apulia. We had no idea you could swim in ancient ruins here - a new MUST DO in Italy and definitely one of Italy's best beaches. We visit the picturesque towns of Polignano a Mare and Ostuni. As well as the biblical cave town of Matera. We also sample some of the local food, including a traditional Italian snack of frise, prosecco, and olives! This day was definitely the highlight of our south Italy travel vlog series so far!

In 2017 we left home with just £500 in our bank account and a dream to make a sustainable travel lifestyle happen! We are now living our dream as digital nomads and want to inspire you to create your own story, whatever it may be!
After 5 years of aimless, yet enjoyable, backpacking around the world we found ourselves in New York City battling with depression. At this point, we decided to go home and confront this problem head-on. After 6 tough months at home we decided to go away again, but this time with a goal in mind.. to turn travel into a lifestyle.
Our time spent battling depression has influenced our outlook on life dramatically! We are now traveling the world in search of what makes us happy. In our vlogs, we talk openly and honestly about our travel experiences, the digital nomad life and depression. We hope our videos can help to inspire you to create a life that makes you happy!

I m italian from puglia ,,and i really love YOU guys! ❤
Polignano a mare is the city of origin of Domenico Modugno, the singer of "Volareeee oooh"

So so jealous! You guys are well and truly underrated! Fun, adventurous and completely down to earth! Please don't change when you become huge (which you will). Far to many travel youtubers end up in high end hotels and restaurants which the majority of us can never afford.
Thanks so much Hayley! I don't think I could ever change Alex 😂 (although when we can actually afford to go to fancy places and get his honest reviews of their food, that will be a funny day!)
Never try, you pair are an incredible couple to watch. With growing popularity will come the high end offers and by all means lap them up (i know i would). I just plead with you to keep exploring and have budget weeks 😊
I absolutely love watching you two traveling, especially in my favorite country, Italy. You two find the everyday places that can make life so great. Greetings from the Rhineland in Germany.
Matera is not in Apulia, it's just across the border in the Basilicata region. Next time you come ,make sure you spend at least a couple of days in Matera, it's absolutely mindblowing.
Matera si trova in Basilicata.
It’s the only place in the world that hanging laundry looks good! Only in italy😊
Hey, you MUST go to Sicily
Could not agree more.
the scenery of sassi just blows me away. I love such historical place and it just reminds me lots of epic game scene, so surreal and fascinating
What a fantastic series guys!! Italy is a remarkable country and we are so glad that on this particular trip - you decided to film! Your happiness has been contagious and certainly put a smile on our faces. So happy for you guys! Keep the travels coming 😁
The resemblance is uncanny to Weston-Super-Mare! 🤣🤣
Italy indeed is everything. Such a beautiful place. Puglia, Italy is a perfectly safe choice for one of the best.
I am absolutely loving this Italy series! So unexpected considering the travel difficulties that are going on right now. I follow several travel vloggers, most of whom are your friends, and I have not seen anybody go to these hidden gems in the southeast of Italy. These places are stunning! And I have never heard of them before now! Bravo Travel Beans, Bravo! 👏👏
I love this series. I got to go to Italy a few years ago and I want to go back one day. Matera is on my list now! Thank You so much for the video!
Loved that area you toured in this vlog. Would love to have seen more of south as it’s on our bucket list now.
I don't suppose I could talk the two of you into staying in Italy and covering nothing but places like this for a couple of months? Given the news cycle here in the US currently, you two are a lifeline of sorts. Somewhere out there, there's still the simple pleasure of walking down the street in a beautiful place.
I’ll do it. My husband, best friend & I will be making a 22 day tour of Greece & Italy & would love to cover it & stay.
I agree. They've taken us to places that you just don't see on TV.
Speaking as an American who has been to Polignano a Mare and other wonderful seaside towns in Puglia--I completely agree, and yearn to be able to live in a place like Polignano. Trani, on the other side of Bari, is another amazingly beautiful, medieval coastal town.
@@kittensmitten4015which is more beautiful italy or greece
thank you for publicising Puglia! my boyfriend and I got there every year (he is italian) and it is the most undiscovered gem of the entire country. i watch these videos when i miss my second home :') thankyou both and safe travels.
I agree, my boyfriend is actually from the region. I fell in love with it this summer and can't wait to move there to be with him.
Guys you’ve really made us wanna go to Italy with this series. We’ve only spent a couple of days in Italy on our hitchhiking journey from Thailand to Spain 3 years ago and saw only a tiny bit of the north. Thanks for sharing this 😊
I’ve been to Italy for a two-week trip and thought I did a bunch of research before picking our locations but after watching your Italy series I’m questioning if I actually did! Where were all of these beautiful places in my research! Guess I’ll have to go back. Thanks for the videos and recommendations.
Next time you should (MUST) VISIT Craco, in the southern region of Basilicata, an abandoned medieval hilltop town now almost left in ruins! It's spectacular and very scenic for a video!
It's like the medieval version of the roman forum!
On youtube there are some videos you can check!
:D
Beautiful places, thanks for showing us.
Have been to Italy several times, but I have always stuck to the large "popular" cities. This series has inspired me to visit (perhaps even trace your route) smaller coastal towns, and not make any plans whatsoever. Thank you for the videos and the entertainment. You both bring something different to the videos.
If you happen to travel in July-August or around Easter, it's better off planning in advance since most places could be fully booked. Out of those periods, I guess you can have a wonderful experience also roaming around without planning much in advance.
Wow! The ancient ruins were amazing! What a great find! Again, such a great video with awesome music, voice overs, and filming! 🙏🏻💕
I have seen some videos and pictures of that restaurant in the caves and it looks amazing! That city is beautiful! Love the contract between the white and cream colored buildings with the super blue sky and water! Thanks for sharing :)
We are loving this series!!! You have changed our itinerary for our next trip to Europe! I’ll be using these vlogs for our planning! April 2021 Italy here we come! Thank you guys!!!
Awesome 🤩 you will have a blast.
John and Cara, we italians wait for you next year! ❤️
@@maty68mp thank you! We cannot wait! 😀
What an amazing location! Thank you for sharing!
Absolutely stunning places. Loved the filming.
Thank you Terence!
loved it great clip thanks for sharing it
I’ve just discovered you two and I’m addicted! You make such brilliant content. I’m going to make notes and visit all these places. Thank you!!!!!
We visited Puglia in 2018 and prebooked (in Oct 2017) our spot at Grotta Palazzese in beautiful Polignano a Mare. To say the least the experience was Amazing, the ambience, the food, the view, the surroundings and I'm pleased to report they are not pretentious at all. There were couples, private party group, groups of 4-6 seated all around up and downstairs in the grotto. A tip its cheaper at lunchtime and if you go at night book the second seating so you can stay as long as you want. Polignano a Mare has everything, historic centre, beaches, grottos and as beautiful as it looks. We stayed 5 nights at Sassi di Matera and recommend it highly especially if you are a historic buff. Thank you for bringing these wonderful memories to us. Our trip this year was cancelled and we are living it through your videos :)
What a great series, definitely put SE Italy on the visit list for us!
What wonderful places !!!! thanks.
Wow!!! Absolutely beautiful ....
I’m pleased that you have won the essence of a trip to Italy and all the turists should have your experience
Love that you guys got to cover this region of Italy it’s so beautiful ❤
Oh we're so glad we found you!! Our plan is to be in Italy later this 2021 (fall) and getting to watch your videos on the places we have on our list.....well, really makes us want to go now!! In love with you guys and looking forward to binge watching your videos! Stay safe and happy travels!
Me! I love snorkelling 🤿 so stoney beaches are awesome for that!! That place looks gorgeous - when possible I’m so going!! Thanks guys 👍😊🙏
Binge watching your videos!!! What an absolutely amazing couple, energy and content! Keep the amazing work up. Love from Saudi Arabia.
I've loved all of this series so far and can't wait for more! You could easily imagine you've time traveled to biblical Matera - probably hasn't changed much. Those kinds of places give me chills. And swimming in those ancient ruins, unreal. Then the simple, lovely food with a glass of in the beautiful city center - just can't beat it :)
Thanks Susan 😊 Italy is such a fun place to travel.. It blows my mind that there were people stood in the same spot as me, thousands of years ago, living their lives..
Puglia is wonderful
Honestly Thank you for the beautifully done content and for showing me some hidden parts of my country
Keep the great work up and I would be happy to welcome you to Venice next time.
Much love x
I think you guys are my favorite travel couple. My family and I travel internationally three times a year and I love the style of your videos, they give me all the information and entertainment : ) I need!! Planning an Italy trip in Sept and I feel like I hit the jackpot on your videos. Thank you!!
I'm loving the whole Italy series. Too hard to choose a favourite but this one was pretty epic.... And awesome drone footage.
I’m addicted to your channel, great video quality, great content!
Thanks for sharing and I’m praying you two get to revisit the cave restaurant!
I love your authentic content! 💪🏻
That water is so blue, we’ve been to Venice and Verona but really want to see the rest of the country, it looks so beautiful.
From now on Alex when people ask me where I’m from I’ll be telling them “Weston-super-Maaree” 😄
Went to the ruins beach today on your recommendation, absolutely loved it. Looking forward to trying more of your beach finds when we head to Salento next week.
This is the most fun and also practical travel channel. Good job.
So glad UA-cam brought up your channel for me when this video posted, really enjoying all your videos. This one caught my attention because I recognized Polignano a Mare from the photo and it's on my list, for a trip that will also include Matera for several days, just looks unlike anything else. Maybe you'll be able to go back and spend more time there!
I haven’t seen much of eastern Italy in other travel vlogs. Looks like a great place to visit. Thanks for the excellent views..
Sorry for my faulty english.
Thank you for your great videos about Apulia. I've always wanted to go to the south of Italy, but couldn't convince my wife. But after seeing your videos about Puglia, she really wants to go on vacation to Polignano. Thanks a lot for this. I'm looking forward to many new videos from you after Corona
Wow really extraordinary place to explore. Very well presented. I really appreciate your hard work. I would say mind blowing. 👌👍❤️
Thanks guys.. This place is easy to make look good 😂
Great Video! I travel to every single country in the world for UA-cam. I wait to see your next video! ☀️☀️
Wow. Again... What a wonderful episode!!! South Italy series is now officially my favourite one!!! Beats even You Two drunk in Wroclaw when I had so much fun of watching You!!!
Great video!! love it when we can make travel video's! cant wait till we can travel again and make some travel video's
Ok, I have to admit that my favourite is Calette di Torre Cintola. What a beautiful place. You guys are so lucky!!! Good for you Alex. Se cuidan chicos. Adiós 🤗.
Beautiful! Conjugal love forever ... Inspiring couple😊
Making the pizza and your beautiful airb&b with the stone towers that was so beautiful
But really your whole series from Germany to italy has be absolutely a fantastic 😜🥰
We’re heading to Lecce on Friday and now I’m CRAZY excited ❤
Great video😁 thanks for sharing
Amazing stuff !
I was OBSESSED with laundry lines while in Venice. So good! I saved this vlog, because this is my kind of travelling...
It's all beautiful!
Wow this is truly amazing and never knew that it can be done in Italy, have to plan visiting this place soon
Thanks all the advice!
Bellissimo!! 👌🏼😋
Well done! Lovely video!
Hello guys! Thanks so much for showing us these places and for being so authentically you!!! What month did you visit ? The weather looks gorgeous!
Fabulous! ALL just fabulous!!
I'm looking forward to your arrival in my part of Northern Italy. In the meantime, I'm getting travel ideas for later this year.
Just catching up with all your videos. Man Italy has been the best yet! You guys rock! Travel Beans, do you think you'll go back???.
you guys are awesome- loved this video
Fun view point. Thanks to "Stephen and Andie" for recommending your vlogs!
Like you, my favorite spots were Lecce and the ruins beach. Breathtaking scenery. That vista from the Largo Ardito viewpoint of the caves under Polignano a Mare was gorgeous. Although, your visits to many quiet (no vehicle traffic) towns were also very refreshing. I also enjoyed your stay at the Trullo. You've definitely placed Italy on my bucket list. Thanks Alex and Emma. ♥
Thanks Dan! It's definitely a good one to have on your bucket list! So happy to hear you're enjoying the series! Thanks for the lovely comments, as always 💛💛💛
Loved it all
I enjoyed all video from South. Im Italian from South and Im proud to see in a funny way amazing sightseen of My regione Puglia, and all parts of italy u visited and really appreciated. Tnk for Your Point of view
Paradise
Very nice and informative
Adore you 2 guys. Keep it up.
simpatici...
1) I'm mad enough to prefer pebbles over sand
2) the difference between Frisa and Bruschetta is in the way you prepare and cook/serve the bread
3) Bruschetta's pronunciation for brits: broos-ketta
4) My favourite part of your Italian trip so far was seeing you making pizza
Thanks Rahel! Making pizza was definitely in my top moments.. So much fun and so tasty!!
And thanks for the info! I've definitely been pronouncing bruschetta wrong this entire trip 🤦♀️😂 so thanks for the help!
Volevo anche dire riguardo la broos-ketta. And I'm not italian.
My favourite part of Italy was getting back to the French Riviera, my favourite Italian meal was that Burger King I had in Naples, The nicest people I met in Italy were Spanish and Pizza is overrated.
@@johnc3403 lol
@@RussellChapman99 Not Italian, but you definitely know the language!
I never had any interest in going to Italy until now! Swimming in the ruins was too cool. Oh, huge thumbs up on the filming and editing of your videos. Totally top shelf.
Loving your videos.
good advice more than a day in Matera and do include a Cave stay..the place is magical at night. It is so unique. We visited each spot in this video and was struck by the quiet streets...I assume this was during Covid and maybe not long ago judging by the rain? Anyway Puglia is a must see. Thanks for the memories.
Frisa is more like a rusk. The frisa gets soften by soaking in salted water before topping with tomatoes, salt, olive oil & oreganum. My grandparents told me that when they were kids taking dry frisas to the beach and use the sea water to soak was very common.
Nice video!!! Born and grew up in the places you filmed... grazie
I suggest to visit Paestum and Cilento coast. Beautiful.
THIS is the video that got me to decide to go to Puglia after researching and researching of where we should stay. We leave in just over a month to go! Wanted to come here and say thanks guys! Loved all your Italy video so much I watched them mulitple times. BEANS!!!!
Loved it.👍
I visit Weston Super Super Mare regularly , it is a lovely place.
Subscribed 😊If I may suggest, definitely some places in central Italy: Civita di Bagnoregio, Lago del Turano (Lazio), Pitigliano, Terme di Saturnia (Tuscany), Orvieto, Spello, Rasiglia (Umbria), Civitella del Tronto (Abruzzo), Grottammare Alta (Marche). But at the end of the day, even the smallest village has something beautiful to offer in Italy (foreign people just don't know all of them)😉
Bel video, complimenti! ,>
You both are so nice and funny, love this video, know all the area, I am a brazilian and have been living in Italy since 2003. I have lived in Matera (BASILICATA, not PUGLIA) for 15 years....and knwo all the small cities in Puglia you've been. You got it, it'is so special! Thank you for this lovely video about Southern Italy among tons of boring ones I have watched till now in other channels!
Wowza
This is the best of your Italian series so far. Emma please keep Alex in check by not telling him that he's right often 🤔🤣🤣🤣 Keep up the great work guys 😃
Do you guys spend your whole life travelling . How!! Amazing places . Thanks for sharing them.
You two are great!
That so makes me smile :) Next time I'm in Puglia, I'll get a car xx
Hi guys!
Your videos are awesome! 😃 I watched some while eating lunch. (I had beans.)
I came from the endless adventure. 🙃
Greetings from Germany!
