Jam from 2019. When I “practice” I simply play free form. This came from one of those moments. I’m still free-forming it. Warts and all. Fun stuff. Excuse the lighting! 🤩🤪
That was so awesome! You have a new fan off of that jam Tony! Also was fun just watched you talking about Jimmy Page and Jaco Pastorius jam back in the day. Great content Fretless Monster : )
23:29 pacific standard time in pacific Canada and after hearing this Jam i cannot stop my feet tapping as the Fretless Monster's Bass is in me brain, sleep will have to wait... Thanks Tony that was Very Cool > 157
Hi, Tony! Was very happy ( and surprised :-) ) to see a clip recently of you playing with Lou Gramm. A guy many can argue as being the greatest rock vocalist for a very long time. Foreigner was certainly my band from middle school, going on into high school. Can’t believe he did Urgent. That must have been something else. I hope you can send me some good vibes. think I tore my rotor cuff at work earlier today, getting it checked out tomorrow. Does not feel good at all. :-(
Thanks for that. Lou is a sweetheart as well as an incredible talent. I’m very grateful to be working with him. Sorry to hear about your rotator cuff. Sending tons of good vibes 🙌🏻
Love that groove thang Tony. The sound you get with the plec is fabulous, or should I say monstrous?! Inspirational. Top stuff man, thanks for sharing.
That was wicked, as usual! The very concept of a *fretless* Precision bass is funny but seeing a fretless bass being played with a pick is even weirder 😁
@@FretlessMonster Hehe, I'm not sorry either. Just have to fix up some mostly cosmetic / age related issues with the bass and it will be back to playing in all it's glory. Previous owner apparently played up until he was 76, mostly jazz. So now it's time for some rock and metal mostly ;)
Hey Tony! As we have talked about fretless with a pick before. Even though I have my own style and do sometime use a pick on fretless. But I grew up knowing Jaco in Florida and I loving roundwounds on fretless, however when I play with a pick I feel this could be something better with flats. I'm just going to check it out because you just killed it big time with your plucktrum!
Look at that thumb on the fretting hand, as I discussed with Tony several times before. That thing's got a mind of its own lol. Not what your bass teacher tells you to do!
Great Practice that turns to precious moment for me. I watched some Lou Gram stage movies , I am very glad to Mr Tony plays live on stage . When on higest pro-level tour would be done, how long is the rehersal required? Thank you.
Thanks so much. We only rehearsed for one day back in January 2022. 🤷♂️🤪 We sometimes run through songs at soundcheck. I do my own practice at home. 👏🏻🔥
Nice jam! I have no idea how you get those harmonic slides so clean. I always get more of the fundamental note when I do it and it sounds like garbage. 🤥
Are you using your thumb to mute the E string? I don't see too many people doing that on the bass. They always say not to wrap your thumb around the neck. But use it for leverage to hold the strings down.
Sometimes I use it to mute the low E, yes. It’s all very fluid and almost intuitive. Plus I have large thumbs!! 🤪😂 I don’t think about it when I’m playing. Many people comment on how I lift my thumb off the fingerboard (on my left hand), when I go up to the higher strings. My thumb has a mind of its own. 🤷♂️😂
That little jam just kept getting better and better!
I felt like I was going to fall off the edge at one point. 😂🤪🤷♂️

Ooo🔥❤️and the smile
Keep it going, Tony!
Killer jam Mr. Tony
Thank you 🤩👍🏻
Nice groove Tony, thanks!
He should draw a little happy face on it.
Thank you!!
Amazing. Not surprised, just delighted.
Truly appreciate that 🤩👍🏻
Lol that was awesome!!!
You manage to make picked bass and fretless fretboard sound awesome, which is not easy at all ❤❤❤❤
Thanks so much!! I love the Fretless bass with a pick!! 🤩👏🏻🔥
working it o yes
😝👏🏻🤩
The Master Monster with a sweet jam!! 👍🎸
I enjoyed the hell out of that Tony, thank you my online friend.
Truly appreciate that 🤩👏🏻

That sounded awesome!
I wish I could play like that.
Get practicing and you might just be able to ;)
Brilliant! That was fun! Man, I love the tone of a picked fretless with some palm muting. So so good. Thanks for sharing this Tony. More please.
Thanks so much. Yeah I love the Fretless with a pick. 👏🏻🤩
This guy is a Wizard. Nice.
Thanks so much.

Great. Thanks so much. I love both finger style and plectrum. More sound options and dynamics! Cheers!
This was really awesome. Cheers, Tony! 👍🏻👍🏻✌️
Great!! Thank you 😊
Riff reminded me of Thin Lizzy's sugar blues. Great playing.
Very cool. Thanks
I love your tone!
Thank you so much.
Very groovy man
Great stuff. Can you do more of these Tony? Can watch them for hours! 😀
Thank you. There will be more coming. And there are already quite a lot on my UA-cam channel. Take a look 👍🏻🤩
That was wicked, as usual!

Haha. I love it. And I love the pick on Fretless. 👏🏻🔥
@@FretlessMonster Gives back a bit of attack and definition?
Uncle Tony is amazing bass player!
You’re too kind. Thank you.
Smokin' hot Tony...thanks
Thank you 😊
Tony your the Boss !!! 😎👍
Ah thank you. My bass is the boss though. 😂🤷♂️
You’re awesome tony
I truly appreciate that! 👏🏻🤩
Excellent riff, cheers Tony. Might be nicking a bit of that😊
😂👏🏻
Nice
Awesome! 😎
Great! Thank you
I bought a late 70s / early 80s Vantage (vp825b) unlined fretless yesterday and it's mostly your fault ;)
Keep up the fun & the tips :)
Haha. Oops. Sorry (not sorry) about that. 🤪😂👏🏻

A real fretless monster 🤟🏼
🤪😂👏🏻 Thanks
Love this jam, including that cool ascending walking line to get back into it, you Rock, Tony!❤
👏🏻👏🏻🤩🤩 Thanks!

Worth a try. Though I’m all in with the rounds.
The DR Sunbeams are special strings. So versatile. Unlike any other round I’ve tried. 🤷♂️😊
🔥🎸🎶👊♥️🎩
Very cool! Man, when will we get some sweet Jaydee bass antics?
Thanks. Still needing to get those electronics back from John Diggins. Hopefully soon. 😊🙏🏻🤷♂️
Look at that pickin' hand, it's a beautiful thing. Warts and all. ❤

reaching the highest levels of funky groove in this one
nice one man. you laughed with me at that ending xD
Haha. Thanks. I almost tripped over at the end! 🤪😂🤷♂️
Did you ever jam with Jeff Beck? You guys would've rocked together. Beautiful funk strut.
Yes. But not really. Unusual circumstances. One for the book. 🤪 I think we would have complimented each other well.
You and Beck would be a dream jam. Do Stratus or pretty much anything. Thanks for sharing.@@FretlessMonster
🔥🔥🔥
👏🏻🤩🔥
Very nice and I like that you don't use flat wound strings, at least I think you don't
Thanks! I don’t use flats. Never have. I cannot get my sound. 👍🏻🤩
@FretlessMonster that's great, I was in a band, and they wanted me to use flats, and I did, but I didn't like the sound.
There you go. I like the versatility of the rounds. And the way they feel.
Nice jam! I have no idea how you get those harmonic slides so clean. I always get more of the fundamental note when I do it and it sounds like garbage. 🤥
Hmmm. I posted a short tutorial of this. I’ll find it and post it here.
