This brings me back to the old school when we used to battle in the streets, block against block, street against street, poppers against breakers and lockers. We had to do it all. If it wasnt for people like me that keeps it real you wouldnt even have contest like this.

Yes! If you pay close attention, notice that Poppin DS strength is his arm & chest movement. Kite is the opposite, his strenghth is in leg movement in all directions. Kite needs to balance out his arms to meet his legs, and DS needs to strenghthen his leg movements & both will have more to offer. How do I know? I've been doing this for over 20 years.
Sorry but Kite won both rounds imo. The first round he rode the beat wayyyy too smoothly and effortlessly, it looked like he was floating on the stage. Second song, he went all the way in and let DS have it. DS is also great, but Kite was solid in both rounds, hence why he took the win. He also just won another battle this past week, coincidentally, it was also in Korea and against who again? Poppin DS. Ironic that 7yrs later, he still beats DS. Y'all should go check that one out as well, btw really good performance from each of them.
kite was still learning a lot in this phase so his techniques does' nt work too well here.. but now his so excellent that u had to be sure to watch him...
I am glad they show expertise. I could make them better. I would teach Kite how to float and super wave, and I would teach Poppin DS how to tick tock and both would be almost unbeatable. At least they would truly please the crowd. Much love keep up the good work.
Kite has such amazing footwork and smoothness which to me makes him a popping legend. Poppin DS is great as well but his movements are constricted because his style only consists of waves and strong hits. His style doesnt fully utilize his body like how kite does, which is the reason why kite is better

at this time, the dancers from japan and korea still had shit with eachother but they all koo now. you can find some videos of kite hanging out with K-OGS in japan. These are the younger generations of dancers who had shit. The older ones like Acky and Gucchon were respected in Korea but Kite and the K-OGS guys werent koo yet.
@GummyJeff its just muscality which is a really big part of popping, u have to know ur songs so u can deliver the best performance and kill off ur opponent

haha see a dj's job is to create a good mix, and that's it i haven't heard a single dj create a beat for battles, the ones you heard were probably all instrumentals dj's get respect for knowing the science of sound and knowing how to adjust things like gain and bass depending on the situation that's what all those knobs and things are on the turntables if you notice so anyone could PLAY a song on a turntable, not everyone could make the song being played sound clear and fitting
@duveimperial Erm... i'm seeing more than basic glide movment and control. controlled hits, dimestops and most of all feeling and point in their movement. kite is a boogaloo guy anyway and ds seems more animation. some of the best poppings out there
i think kite is better because his popping flows better than ds's though ds hits harder however, his popping doesn't assemble as much original popping or has less funk-ness in it
seems like kite isn't too happy about ds's somewhat cocky attitude...lol cuz usually kite smiles when he dances. i guess ds should do less of those gestures, even if thats just how he is and he really doesn't mean anything.
@GummyJeff all Popper's know how to count the beats . Their are 8 beats per measure even if you don't know the track you can count the beats to be in step with the music
@gdizzl3 No it clearly is not. Kites moves involve more motion in his body so it might look like he's on beat because theres more room for your mind to associate the movement with the beat. But watch closely and you can see Kite is constantly ahead of the beat because the video is out of sync.

Popping DS is sometimes not hitting at the correct timing whereas Kite always hits at the correct timing

DS seemed more interested at what was on the floor than what he was actually doing.
Poppin DS is the guy with the blue stripped polo shirt and Kite is the white shirt and khaki dancing monster.
plus his transitions were smooth and he had to do them manually (aka without some sort of computer program)
