I actually loved black flag when it came out, but nowadays I can’t stand playing it. It feels so boring compared to any of the other games. Especially the ship combat which I feel was better in rogue, if we wanna go there it was probably better in odyssey too. And Edward isn’t that interesting to me. I’m currently getting ready to replay the game again, so if I change my mind I’ll come back to this comment, as of now this is where I stand.
Hot take - i feel ubisoft should dedicate two studios. One for making the old style classic games and one for making the newer, RPG style games. By doing that, i feel they can satisfy both the fanbases 🤙
Even though it would be quite bit nightmarish for the casual fans and also the studios, I 100% agreeing on this take, I hoped that that was were they were going for when I saw Mirage and Code Red being announced
Hot take- Basim is a good villain, if only ubi had given him more screentime and make him a likeable character like they did with Pierre Bellec, his betrayal would have been more significant to us and ac valhalla would have had a good ending
Hot take: An AC game set in Brazil would be great. The architecture there is amazing and I'd love to see Parkour and stealth in that setting. I would love to climb that statue of Jesus in Rio. Spain would also work
The best time period for an Assassin's Creed game here in Brazil would have to be the ending of the empire and start of the republic. I mean, the game should happen during the empire and near the end or at the end the republic. There's really interesting stories that could be used during that specific time period.
A weird idea that I had was to have a game that is set in either WW1 or WW2 as well as having sections that take place in modern day, gameplay would be heavily oriented towards stealth (like Splinter-Cell or Metal Gear), since that is what I kind of miss from the RPG part of the series. Firearms would be present, but would need proper execution, maybe make them limited in ammo and weight, so you can carry a pistol, or carbine, maybe even a bow, but no Machine Guns(maybe make it an unlockable when you beat the game?), all while trying to move undetected from trench to trench, scavenging for ammo and resources, using mud or playing dead to avoid detection.
Hot Take: Assassins creed never really was a stealth game until Unity. 1 was the only game were the “hide in plain sight” mechanic really work. The Ezio trilogy was very hand holding, you have your Right path and if you leave it mission fail. 3, Black Flag und Rogue have more stealth option like the stalker zones but 3 has like the aggressive enemy detaction to this day where if one enemy spot you, you can kiss stealth goodbye. Black Flag and Rogue works most of the time and with Unity Assassins Creed can be name a stealth game. And with the point of “the rpg games are great” they are great. Learn from the past but don't live exclusively in it.
The Ezio trilogy was very half and half for stealth and combat, I believe 2 had more stealth missions since combat wasn’t that great. But in brotherhood a lot of the stealth came from full sync requirements of “do not get detected” if you did those there is a LOT of stealth. But there was also a lot of combat because of the chain killing system they wanted to show off. But no, AC has always been a stealth game. Most of the time in brotherhood and revelations it was just a choice to use stealth or not. Crossbow in both games which was exclusively stealth based, better throwing knives, poison darts, even the hidden gun could be used for stealth. Just because Unity has a crouch button does not mean it was the “first” stealth game.
@@miket0174 i agree! The small glimpse we got was just enough to make you want more. That’s also an era of history that I’m not terribly familiar with, so learning more about it would be neat.
@evandroescutatrap131 Well considering ww1 and the Russian revolution are basically overlapping I'd say you could make a singular game about that, so maybe a bit before ww1 would be interesting as to see the Tsarist era. For the rest I agree though, it could be really interesting and fascinating, but sadly Ubisoft is Ubisoft
@@miket0174 I think it would be a great moment to make more directly linked games again. Like, making a WWI only, taking it from before the war start and ending a bit before Russian Revolution. Then, the second game is completelly focused on the Russian Revolution. Would be something like the Ezio trilogy in my vision.
Hot Take - an assassins creed game set in Ireland in the 1920s would be incredible. There’s already an Irish assassin from this time period. You could have the British as the templars and the Irish rebels as the assassins. You could have guns but they would be very limited. Similar to the ones from syndicate.
Hot Take - Black Flag is more responsible than any single AC game for the series turning away from being an assassin game and story set in a time period and genre to a time period and genre game set in the assassin's universe. Black Flag is one of my personal favourite games of all time (a bit of nostalgia bias I admit) but it was a pirate game first and foremost and an assassins creed game second, but it sold well and reviewed spectacularly and even to this day is still regarded as one of the best in the franchise and best pirate game ever. The following games Unity and Syndicate were more AC games first and time period and genre games second but didn't sell nor reviewed as well as Black Flag which caused Ubisoft to panic and since then Ubisoft has been trying to recapture the adoration Black Flag still has which in their mind means leaning more into the time period and genre the game is set in, be it pirate, Viking, mythological Greek, rather than focusing on the assassin side. Again, I love Black Flag but looking back on it now I realise Ubisoft learnt all the wrong things from the game as it so often does.
The only reason I enjoy the older games more then the newer ones, mainly the rpg ones isn't due to nostalgia, it's just I love the parkour systems in the older games, and the fact the rpg games abandon those makes me unable to enjoy it as much as the older ones
I've been playing AC since the first one and Parkour feels exaclty the same. The main difference is the buildings you climb and it has nothing to do with being RPG or not.
@dangelocake2635 that's not true at all. Origins' parkour is vastly different than any previous entry. I haven't played oddesy cuz it isn't even an AC game, like at all. Valhalla's parkour system was god awful and almost non-existent, that was just climbing n jumping, like an idiot. Everything about Valhalla also wasn't an AC game.
@dangelocake2635 the amount of control, physics, and options you have in the newer games in the subject of parkour are much worse, catch ledge slowly being phased out of the games is a great example, if you genuinely don't see how, I recommend watching Whitelights video essay on parkour in AC
Valhalla was my first entry into the rpg AC games, I literally put 80 hours into it before I decided to finally finish the story. Game was so good I even bought the other two rpg AC’s
@yodaddyrc1220 that's not how opinions work at all, they are not "wrong" about how good it was because it was that good to THEM maybe not to you but it was that good to them and they enjoyed it alot.
Hot take: any assassin with a likeable personality completely takes me out of the “assassin fantasy”. Connors dry personality is the closest we’ve got to someone who would actually fit that role. In a future game I’d like them to take a more mature last of us style approach to an assassin character, showing the mental toll it takes on them.
I heard Noah Watts (Connor's voice actor) had that same way of thinking, saying that he didn't saw Ezio's personality as one of an assassin saying he was very flamboyant, so he wanted Connor to feel more like Altair's serious personality
I did like ezio but I feel like he ruined everything. Like every other character gets compared to him. Connor wasn’t like him so he was hated back in the day and so everyone has to be a “lighthearted charismatic charmer” then they are “not as good as ezio” like Arno was torn to shreds when unity came out because he was ezio light
Exactly, all of them deserve their own sequel. Edward particularly would've been cool to see maturing and needing to balance his family life and assassin life. Maybe he would try to keep the assassins a secret from his children and failing near the end, at least with Haytham. Edward is my favorite AC protagonist.
Ignore Connor who had the most heart and intensity out of all of them. Didnt AC fans mature out of that? The themes in that game are more powerful than the others and Connor is the only one whose message truly spoke to everyone regardless of era. The ONLY Assassin that inspired me
@@newhybrid101Connor is just a crybaby who does what he wants without actually thinking it through or maturing. We don't see any character development or wisdom from him in the game. If anything, his father, Hytham is far more interesting and nuanced as a character. The biggest plot twist in the game is when he revealed that he is actually a Templar. The reason it's so shocking is because we always assumed Templars were evil and that Assassins were the good guys. I always feel that AC Rogue came out at the wrong time. If it had come out before AC Black Flag it would have been much more appealing.
I would love an AC game or even a stand-alone game made by the same world designers taking place in Westeros. In the story, you can play as Aegon the Conqueror and and live his journey conquering Westeros and eventually ascending the Iron throne. You could have dragon riding, stealth combat, political intrigue. The open world could include places like Kings Landing, Winterfell, Old Valeria, The Wall, etc. That’s an absolute dream of mine
Hot take: We need more Assassin's Creed games taking place in the Medieval era, because I find it curious how that era was only picked up in AC1, parts of Revelations, and parts of Unity (and side games). I mean AC Unity's intro truly shows that going back to that era of Assassin's Creed is promising, especially for long-time fans of the series Another one would be a more connected Modern Day between the games, for example, I find it frustrating how Juno gradually became built on in Revelations, 3, Black Flag and Rogue, then not Unity, then Syndicate, only for her to die in a comic. One way I could see this put into place is through Assassin's Creed Infinity's hub, with potential cutscenes, or potentially as free playable updates to the past games, still thanks to Infinity, but the playable aspect of it seems very idealistic..
Just so you don’t have to Google it, it was kind of like a Japanese Civil War in which forces loyal to emperor overthrew the Shogunate after an unfair treaty with the US forced Japan to open their border. It was fairly small compared to other civil wars of the time.
The fact that you're even making videos about my favorite franchise is enough to sate my need for more Assassin's Creed. Your videos are amazing mainly because you don't follow what's popular, nor do I incessantly agree with a lot of your picks, and I think that's what really makes your channel awesome.
Hot take I think the rpg games are overhated I personally love the stories, writing, graphics music and open worlds and I think syndicate is overhated as well.
They're definitely overhated because the only common theme I see with players who hate them are: "but the formula from the older games were perfect...why would they change that?" Because the games would get boring extremely fast...look at Halo and Gears of War. Those started out SO strong and now no one really talks about them anymore because they never changed the formula
I wouldn't say the rpg games were overhated. they had great storylines and were incredible in terms of open world exploration unlike previous games. their problem was the parkour system didn't really fit in with what AC games were known for. when I hear Assassin's Creed, I think of a MC climbing up a wall by using things like windows and bricks and small ledges but the rpg games did away with that by allowing players to scale a 90 degree wall without anything to grab onto
@@drifter139Actually for Valhalla and origins, they climb grabbing into small cracks or bricks or other stuff poking out of those walls. If it was perfectly smooth it wouldn’t be climbable. Theres a lot of unclimbable stuff in them. Odyssey as well for the most part excluding the statues.
My hot take is that i actually like Layla and i think that if someone was consistently writing her like Darby, she could have been a great modern day protagonist. Hopefully with infinity they can let us properly play her in the modern day and maybe even see some training from the assassins and flesh out her backstory.
I’ve been playing Fate of Atlantis today and I like that this DLC furthers the modern day, unlike any previous DLC in the series. Seeing the influence the staff has on Layla, the death of Victoria (which is her killing Lucy under Juno’s influence moment) and finally taking Otso Berg out of commission, it’s the final piece of story for Layla in Odyssey.
In my experience I have played both origins and Odyssey and I have had enjoyed both. Keep in mind that my first experience with the franchise was ac origins but recently I started playing all the games from the start and I am currently in brotherhood, and I have to say that I like playing these older games more they just seem more fun to me. Also I'm 13.
Hot take- the reason the main villian/final targets of the games since origins have felt forgettable is because we never actually meet them during the gameplay as the villian until we actually kill them, unlike cesare or haytham, who we know throughout the whole game. In origins, we dont meet brutus until the very end of the game
i actually liked valhalla more for this, the confession scenes made them very memorable, the firebrand in particular, one of my favorite cutscenes in the game!
Hot take - I don't agree that Bayek should've gotten a trilogy, but I DO think that the next game after Origins should've been set in Rome with Aya as the protagonist. Seeing the absolute scale of it in that one mission at the end of the game was amazing and I'm still disappointed we never got a full game out of it, especially since Aya was originally supposed to be the protagonist of Origins.
Hot take Regarding silenced pistols: Desmond actually uses one in AC3 after getting it from Daniel Cross, but there is really no stealth involved with it. You just use it to onetap enemies along the way who are instantly aggressive to you, which is a wasted potential to me. So it would have been nice to have a few more modern missions with Desmond where you actually get a silenced pistol later on and use it for stealth kills from afar. Abstergo goons would also use their pistols more often against you in combat, because it makes no sense they hit you with sticks, at least after Warren orders them to kill you.
Hot take, this is going to be such an awesome series, I would also like to see ranking videos again, for example favourite synchronisationpoint points or the best dlcs out of the acs
Unity being buggy was a blessing in disguise for me. I had pre-ordered both it and Rogue. I played Rogue first, so by the time I got to Unity the worst bugs were fixed. Ubisoft desperately tried to do some damage control, so I ended up getting Far Cry 4 for free while not having a bad time with Unity.
Hot take- while you say people who dislike the RPG games are stuck in the past, I personally didn't enjoy origins AT ALL, but I'm pretty new to the series, I started playing last year and started with Syndicate because my friend got it for me. Also Arno deserves a sequel if not a trilogy.
Try Odyssey. There's nothing wrong with the RPG system itself, but Origins is a pretty weak game. Character is lame, the story is not really about him. You're stuck in doing errands for your wife, which should've been the main character.
6:40 that’s why they added the wider variety of fast traveling to make it more balanced, 100% kinda agree tho on the chance you wanna enjoy the scenery
Hot Take: Its crystal clear from AC 2 that this franchise was always going to be a full RPG. All the elements needed for one and mechanics built there are carried out and expanded upon through the rest of the franchise
Hot take: they should resume the Juno plot line and fully flesh out desmonds and Juno's ending. I feel like this has been ignored since ac syndicate even though it wasnt that important in the game, but the latest ac games havent even mentioned them apart from valhalla
Hot take: Assassin's Creed didn't get stuck in the past. Unity had already brought the franchise to the new generations and updated the gameplay perfectly. There was no need for the saga to become an RPG
3:08 to be honest unity parkour does take some actuall skill in order for it to look good because of how inconsistent it is. if you understand how the parkour works and if the game actually does what you tell it to do the parkour can be fun and fast as hell.
I actually did like Desmond's ending even though the original plan sounds really cool. I just don't know if it could have worked because people like the games for the historical setting. Sidenote: I think a really cool idea for an AC game would be set in the far future where a kid finds an animus in a post apocalyptic world and it turns out he's the descendant of Desmond and then we get to play as desmond, maybe get some gameplay where desmond is reliving some of our favorites, and then end the game with the kid climbing the post apocalyptic world and assassinating corrupt leaders from the future. I don't know if it would work but I like the idea of it. Maybe it could work if it had a compelling open world set in a fallout or cyberpunk-esque city?
Hot Take: Ubisoft needs to just make the Watch Dogs and Assassin's Creed universe officially connected so we can have a full modern day Assassin's creed game with the best of both systems. Like a Watch Dogs: Creed game
Rankings I’ve never played 1 or Valhalla so I’m gonna skip them 1. Unity 2. 3 3. 2 4 Black Flag 5. Brotherhood 6. Origins 7. Syndicate 8. Rouge 9. Mirage 10. Revelations 11. Odyssey
I do like the RPG games, especially origins, but i do prefer the older games, not because I played them during my childhood but because they are a lot more fun and unique.
If I remember correctly, AC Unity was planned as a 2016 game, a five year dev cycle from 2011, and then rushed by the publisher. So, judging by this, imagine how underbaked story and gameplay are. It mirrors AC1 (another game rushed 2 years in advance) in so many ways but suffers even more, at least in AC1 the story is so immersive that you can forgive a lot of setbacks.
Really hot and spicy take : I really want to see a modern day era AC game. Desmond missions in AC3 were really amazing and memorable for me. i do think that a stealth game with heavy emphasis on traversal and story would be great. if you think that just wouldn't work, how about a game that's 50/50 split between modern day AND Animus
my hot take is syndicate is my personal favorite and nothing will make that change, this game has a special place in my heart and I love to appreciate everything I love in this game even recognizing its flaws and things I would've done differently
This is more of a dream for me but if you don't like it, I guess you could consider it a hot take. 😅 I want an Assassin's Creed game based on the modern day. I know people will not like this because of possible controversy or something but it'll be awesome if done right. I mainly want an Assassin's Creed game based on the future. I know we got something similar in Watch Dogs Legion with the character DLC but I would love for a full on futuristic game with Assassins. Note: the thing that gets me hyped for a futuristic game in the Assassin's Creed world. Is picture a Male assassin for example wearing a nanosuit but an assassin vibe teleporting into a group of enemies and using hidden blades made out of nanotech or something. It looks so damn cool in my head 😅.
Ezio just plain overshadows. Connor got a weaker reception because players were expecting another Ezio, and Edward and Arno both reflected Ezio in some way (Arno far more overtly). Run a poll about Assassin’s Creed protagonists, put Ezio as an option and more people will vote for him no matter the question.
I remember there being a few “Edward wasn’t a good protagonist” takes or something along those lines so I’m surprised to see they didn’t show up in the video.
Hot Take: AC Liberation's Persona Gimmick had a lot of potential and would've been amazing if it had gotten a Non Portable Sequel. (I want more from Aveline)
Hot take: The multiplayer in AC Brotherhood --> Black Flag was great, it didn't take away from the main game, and it's a shame they removed it from further sequels. I'm a single player gamer, but AC multi was something I thoroughly enjoyed.
8:53 This is why the air rifle from ac rogue was one of my favorite weapons Also added a lot of strategy with using sleep or berserker darts Always fun when the target was killed for you by some bezerk guy
I like both modern and old AC. But the RPG games burn me out a lot faster than the classic style of gameplay. But that's probably because I've played a lot of rpgs throughout the years lol
I agree with Odyssey having a pretty nice story. I was thoroughly invested in it and really considering in what way my choices might affect the story and was always rewarded. Saying that people who live through hard times can't have a sense of humor and more optimistic view on life, is instead what I find a strange conclusion. Especially since you gave Evie and Jacob a pass on this as well, who unprofessionally make jokes as they're slitting people's throats. And it's not like their time period is all sunshine and rainbows either. I actually like the change of pace Odyssey offered through it's lighter and funnier delivery. But that's just me.
@@yodaddyrc1220 A good game to me is a game that's fun and that granted me an experience that stands out from everything else I played in a positive way. That's what Odyssey did for me and many others. You're the only one clueless enough to not know that this is a subjective matter and that even if you were to look at it a bit more objectively, Odyssey released in a very good and complete state.
Hot take: the silent musket from the AC game where you are a templar (i cant remember the name) is such a stupid idea. It just felt forced. They wanted guns, but its a stealth game, so instead of making it a crossbow, they made it a gun to appeal to people that asked for guns
Hot take: I feel like a modern day ac would be great bc idk about anyone else but my favourite parts of ac3 were the modern day missions, the only bad thing with this setting would be the history as there hasn’t really been any historical moments that would make sense for a ac game since ww2
I have another hot take, though I already posted one in that community post a while ago: I like the mythological AC games. I mean, for one, at least they keep actual history, but I also like the choice making and how they even incorporated them into the series without making them feel out of place. To be honest, that's the only reason I don't mind the Isu post-AC3. And I only say that because I hate that Ubisoft never used them after Desmond's sacrifice, effectively making it half-void. If you want I can elaborate
Hot take: The reason I don't like the rpg AC games is because of the genres, I don't like RPGs that much and much rather prefer action adventure games with stealth like the older AC games I bought AC Nexus on the Quest 2 and it is such a good game! Specially the Ezio missions
The 4 things Ghost of Tsushima needed to be an Assassin's Creed game were 1. More buildings to climb 2. More social stealth (apart from the Mongol armor) 3. Cosmetic stuff such as hoods and hidden blades. And finally 4. A subplot of a guy from the present who is looking for something that Jin Sakai casually found around some day.
Ubisoft simplifying the parkour was the best decision. Unity and below (by release) you have to hold like 4 buttons just to run- it should not be that deep when we are free-running as a means to shortcut. The parkour puzzles and missions in the early games are also clunky ash even when you are doing it right. It’s been clunky in all the games until they just decided to scrap it with origins. But at least to gave you better tools in Unity & Syndicate to make it less broken.
Hot take: Origins story isn’t that good. I enjoyed Bayek’s character ark but the way that the WHOLE GAME is just “kill all these guys to get to this guy because he killed your son… just kidding now here’s 8 more guys who maybe killed your son… just kidding but now here’s 9 more people who maybe killed him” it got so annoying and it just felt like a wild goose chase 😭
🤣 damn dude its not like that they were after something so bayek 's wife found out its much bigger than theit son or something...haven't played in a while tho i might be making shit up
@@scarfaceReaper yeah but Bayek the whole time thinks he’s killing his sons killer and it just feels like the whole the princess is in another castle crap 😭
I actualy read assassins creed forsaken and it was so good but it would be so much better if turned into a game or maybe even a tv show adaptation ac hasn't tried shows yet and this could be good with its episodic style
I actually agree with the take at 4:45. Of course the trilogy DID have stealth mechanics, but they were so bare-bones, especially in AC2, that the "don't get detected missions" were easily the most frustrating ones in the series. It improved a LOT with Brotherhood though. I was blown away by AC2 when it was released, but I recently replayed the trilogy and... yeah no, almost every game released after Ezio is better, and AC2 in particular just doesn't hold up and isn't fun anymore. Especially if you want a stealth game and interesting missions.
@@FlashheadX so now its not? i mean sure the best is black flag but this is the first time i have seen a ezio fan saying its not a good game in recent years
Hot Take: Fate of Atlantis DLC from Odyssey is one of my favorite DLCs in the series. Sure the climbing is a pain and the missions are grindy but we got 3 new open worlds, enemies that drain adrenaline, and side missions that tie into the main story.
Not to mention modern day progression. Layla is becoming more erratic under the influence of the staff and poor Victoria pays the price. Fantastic to lay out Otso Berg as well.
@@jbcatz5 I like that too. It was great seeing the modern day progress through a DLC. Though it did mean not playing the DLC before playing Valhalla's modern day would lead to some confusion.
I’m gonna bounce off the Odyssey comment and add to it. I think they’re talking about how compelling the full and complete story was including Legacy of the First Blade and Fate of Atlantis, and I wholeheartedly agree. It shows a person going from a nobody mercenary on a boring island to hunting down the cult across Greece, to finding out you’re a demigod, to fighting mythical beasts and locking Atlantis, to having a child and a quiet life only to be hunted by the Order of Ancients, and then finally the mercenary accepting the role of Keeper of the Staff for Layla. Even the epilogue wrapped things up really nicely, with our hero leaving to travel the world and find Isu artifacts across the globe. Personally, I think Kassandra has the most potential, as she could be a hero we follow through many different installments no matter the time period
In the final episode of Fate of Atlantis there’s a scene where Kassandra says how she’s getting tired of being treated as an errand girl, reflecting how this was at the time projected to be the last new piece of story for Odyssey. I like to think Kassandra was present during Origins, keeping an eye on her bloodline. The Order of the Ancients didn’t learn about her immortality so when she should have aged old enough to no longer be a threat they’d have called off the search (like how in Avatar the Last Airbender Zuko assumes he’s dealing with an elderly Avatar and not a boy cryogenically frozen in an iceberg for a century).
People who usually dump on the original titles (ezio trilogy and such) are usually ones who started with the rpg trilogy and usually really like odyssey for some reason. What you said about rpgs is what most people say in a different manner, they'd be great if they weren't assassin's creed, you can't expect people to not compare same franchise games. Also, we can have more templar side games like rogue, would definitely work.
Nah. I disagree. I've been playing AC since the first one, loved Ezio Trilogy and I also love Odyssey. Odyssey is one of the best AC games out there and people who say it doesn't feel like an AC game are just people who thing AC means having a hood. The RPG system is great, people are just nostalgic.
@@dangelocake2635 nah not really a great rpg either, this comes from an rpg fan, it has bland characters, barely passable story and the decision making is just a sham except here and there. Then comes the rpg parts, unnecessarily high looter shooter drop rate system, literally Millions in damage numbers I've seen, shiit balancing basically, unnecessarily huge and tedious open world, albiet pretty and good for just exploring which is what the new ubisoft is good at, an open world, bloat meant to fill the hrs. Now it's great if you enjoy "spending the time" but that doesn't make the game good, enjoy it ofc, enjoy however you like but but that doesn't make it best let alone one of the best ac games I'm afraid. Origins even being the first was great, even from an ac perspective. I've played it as a long time ac fan and a pure rpg fan from a pure rpg perspective, not taking ac into consideration at all.
@@dangelocake2635 how many times did u even play ac1 or the Ezio trilogy? Cuz this just seems ignorant that a longtime fan would be okay with odyssey, I doubt u even know what ac even is or even care about what’s important to ac. And hoods are far from the only reason why people dislike odyssey and using nostalgia as an answer is just a way to dismiss valid criticisms, keep in mind that ac1 and the Ezio trilogy are all in my top 5 and I played them all years after they released. And even then, odyssey is so vastly overrated, it’s not that great.
Hot take: the RPG games, particularly Origins and Valhalla, aren't bad games, they're just bad AC games. If a studio released AC Valhalla without the AC title, the game would be panned way better.
My hot take (and l ain't much of an Assasin's Creed fan) : Atair is my favorite Assasin and overall one of my favorite video game protagonists. His character development is great. From a typical A-hole to an actual and ethical Assasin who take's down Al-mualim SINGLE HANDED! Also another hot take is that l loved AC Unity
Hot take- they should bring the game into the Cold War, perfect set up, Soviets as templars. Guns would be difficult to work in but it would give the franchise a chance to refocus on stealth over brute force
We really would benefit from a Chicago Great Depression era ac game featuring prohibition as a main story and side quest focus, speakeasys as bases, gang wars without starting a city-wide gang movement like in syndicate, political and criminal figures (what’s the difference lol), and more
Hot take “I mean, we don’t know about her backstory.” Take some time to go through her computer files including emails in Origins, Odyssey and Valhalla. You’ll have plenty of blanks filled in. Origins contains references to the movie, while Odyssey has some to the climax of the Uprising comic arc.
True. But those should have been told during the real story segments. I bet most players didn't even read a single one of those files. It's kinda like book releases for movie franchises. "these plotholes were really lame in the movie" - "well if you read the supplementary book, that explains all those plothole" - "No buddy, I shouldn't need to read a book to explain things in a movie"
I’m almost a week late but here’s my hot take (should be cold but I know for some reason the community don’t this): The Isu armor should look the way they do in the RPG games + Mirage because they come a very advanced civilization, with (almost) complex technology, and it makes almost no sense for it to look like the time period we’re playing in
I like the idea of this video, no particular idea is wrong. Just a bunch of ppl who love the franchise saying what they like and dislike. Only if ubi would listen
I missed the community post, but my hot take is that the concept of the assassins creed only works and is well done in the original game. The assassins ideals, using clothes to really look like you’re just one normal priest, that atmosphere of melancholy and feeling that you’re a part of a mysterious cult that has a profound but flawed philosophy that in the end doesn’t accomplish real change. I feel like the assassins were made to be one thing that was based on a real cult in the middle east but the animus had too much pontential to be wasted by keeping the original vision and not revisiting more varied historical periods
As you said, the only reason they hate on the RPG games is bcs they want to go back in time to play their childish games. I understand that, my first AC was actually Odyssey and it has a special place in my heart to this day and i will keep replaying it over and over. But that doesnt mean i dont like the old games. I didnt like the First AC, but AC2 and AC Revelations are my favorites of the series, but my top AC´s to play are Valhalla, Odyssey, Origins and Mirage. Now this is my hot take, I actually loved the story of Odyssey. It is very complex and full of emotions. And as i can say, Parkour is not the strongest in the RPG´s, but i found combat and stealth waay better than in the older games. While the first games rely more on blending in, the RPG´s are more like ,,killer stealth,, that gives you that assassin vibe where you try not to get spotted at all instead of blending in. About that ,,nostalgic fanboys,,, i hate them. They deny everything that is not the ,,OG AC,, and cannot even see a good game even if it would be put right before their eyes. And as an AC fan, the RPG games of the series are my most favorite. This is my hot take and i cant wait for some fanboy to trashtalk on everything i said here. JK, have a good day!
With Syndicate grappling launcher strange they didn’t try using it like the rope darts in 3, Black Flag, and rouge. Shoot at an opponent to pull them in or hang.
Hot Take: Odyssey's optimistic tone was the right choice. Assassin's Creed has always been more enjoyable for me when the games chose a more upbeat tone. Whether it was Edward's cockiness and wit, the Frye's bantering, Kassandra's optimistic outlook, or Ezio's determination to help and succeed, Assassin's Creed was always more fun when the characters were having fun and hopeful. Valhalla was the antithesis of that for me, and it’s so far been the only game I haven't enjoyed. Eivor never felt like she had any fun, or sense of hope. Just the opposite, she was entirely focused on preventing a prophecised future, and it was that tone that killed the game more than anything else.
Hot Take: (long one here) while i love ezios story and character, and i find ac2 and brotherhoods worlds to look amazing. I personally find the ezio trilogy, in terms of actual openworld/gameplay. To be quite boring. I found the parkour (while prolly best in terms of control) to be boring and the combat to be very mundane (and yes, ac1 is one of my favorite games and first one i ever played) But going from ac1 to ac2 i was almost rather disappointed. Even the missions at points in ac2 to be kind of boring to play. Not to say ac1 was really rinse and repeat and boring. As for revelations, while i love the opening, ending and Altair memories, I find Ezio's story outside of finding the memories of Altair (templar plot, love interest) to be very boring and almost just filter so the game can be a couple hours long and openworld
Because that’s what it was: filler. Especially the whole Venice arc in AC2. You see that they actually created new characters similar to the ones in Florence (not that they were great to begin with) and literally NONE of the events of that arc has an effect on the game’s actual main story. I’ve heard many times Brotherhood was supossed to be a DLC to AC2 anyway, so that one is filler too. Ezio has his literal character arc in Revelations, he doesn’t even change in AC2 like people pretended he did. The whole trilogy is so bad that I can’t wrap my head around it. And before anyone asks: no, I haven’t played the RPG games nor will I play them.
I think Assassin creed needs a reboot. A remake of Ac 1 - Ac 3 story so they can go with the original plot line of Desmond being the ultimate Assassin. Yes fans might feel like they wasted time or maybe loss some new players but I believe if done right , Ubisoft could lead the franchise in a great direction again as well as make their stories better while using some parts of the originals flow better
Hot Take: To say there is little to no element of stealth built into newer AC games is not true. You just have to make that decision, hence the different equipment builds. Often it favours open combat but a lot of the side content balances that out with stealth opportunities. Best of both worlds to attract different types of players.
I can agree with the whole statement about Connor always being serious because that shows he is dedicated to the cause but the thing about Ezio being overrated is so wrong. we literally start off with him as he is being born and move on to see his first major moment in his personal journey to stop the Templars which spans decades. Ezio was literally born to be an assassin
Hot take, make more of this i rlly like just sitting back watching ac gameplay in the background and u talking about hot takes, keep up the good work man 😁
I think guns might work in AC but it depends on how they are handled. I’d say that you can carry weapons but the ammunition is very limited since both weapons and ammo weighs kind of a lot. A 30 round mag weighs about 1lbs or 0,5kg. Therefore carrying too big weapons like rifles and too much ammunition would impact parkour and stealth since mobility would be an issue. Also walking around with guns and rifles in the middle of the day would make for bad social stealth so you’d only carry like handguns and knives instead of rifles and swords.
Here's a post: Were we not meant to live in peace then? Is that it? Are we born to argue? To fight? So many voices, each demanding something else. (AC3 Monolouge) I do think this is what every Assassin has had to have thought at some point. That it's just endless fighting and for what? Get rid of the Templars and what do you replace it with then right? (My take)
No matter how many assassins creed games gets released, black flag will always have a special place in my heart
Same
Black flag sucks personally. Rogues better
This game was like the new gen of the old gen, so beautiful and nice to play
me but with Origins

Hot take: An AC game set in Brazil would be great. The architecture there is amazing and I'd love to see Parkour and stealth in that setting. I would love to climb that statue of Jesus in Rio.
Spain would also work
I agree
What brazil though, modernish brazil with shanty towns or the earlier times, with conquistadors
@@SniperSpy10 I’m guessing late 18th century.
@@SniperSpy10why not both
The best time period for an Assassin's Creed game here in Brazil would have to be the ending of the empire and start of the republic.
Man, this is the chilliest roast video ever, I should make one myself😂
Learn from the past but don't live exclusively in it.
nah you're skewing the idea of stealth for your take, adding crouch and couple more stalker zones like bushes would do it.
I absolutely agree, but Black Flag had decent stealh.
What made the rpgs great?
@@yodaddyrc1220 Everything it did to position itself an rpg i guess.
An AC game set in WW1 would be elite. We got a glimpse of that as a DLC.
I'd love one set in the Russian revolution, I know we got one but I mean a fully fleshed out one
@@miket0174 i agree! The small glimpse we got was just enough to make you want more. That’s also an era of history that I’m not terribly familiar with, so learning more about it would be neat.
@@miket0174 Imagine that trilogy: WWI, Russian Revolution, WWII.
This would be just too good for Ubisoft to do lmao
The rpgs just don't feel like a natural evolution of the franchise.
@@dangelocake2635You clearly don’t know jack shit.
@dangelocake2635 the amount of control, physics, and options you have in the newer games in the subject of parkour are much worse, catch ledge slowly being phased out of the games is a great example, if you genuinely don't see how, I recommend watching Whitelights video essay on parkour in AC

I would rather have more than 1 game with Edward, Shay, and Arno than have more than 1 game with Ezio.
The ONLY Assassin that inspired me
@@newhybrid101no he didn't. He had as much heart as a board.
Edward needs another game cause now he is the same as kassandra and eivor. Not an assassins. He is just a pirate nothing else.
AC brotherhood has some of the best side missions in ac history
Hot take: We need more Assassin's Creed games taking place in the Medieval era, because I find it curious how that era was only picked up in AC1, parts of Revelations, and parts of Unity (and side games). I mean AC Unity's intro truly shows that going back to that era of Assassin's Creed is promising, especially for long-time fans of the series
Another one would be a more connected Modern Day between the games, for example, I find it frustrating how Juno gradually became built on in Revelations, 3, Black Flag and Rogue, then not Unity, then Syndicate, only for her to die in a comic. One way I could see this put into place is through Assassin's Creed Infinity's hub, with potential cutscenes, or potentially as free playable updates to the past games, still thanks to Infinity, but the playable aspect of it seems very idealistic..
Agree
I’m not sure how much you know about the Boshin War, but I think that it would be a great alternate setting for Codename Red or a future AC game.
Just so you don’t have to Google it, it was kind of like a Japanese Civil War in which forces loyal to emperor overthrew the Shogunate after an unfair treaty with the US forced Japan to open their border. It was fairly small compared to other civil wars of the time.
Hot take
A game taking place during the Aztecs would be awesome

@@JazzySaturdays I love gears of War campaigns and gameplay
@@JazzySaturdays well they did complain about AC being boring so they did the kenway and modern to rpg and they were not bad tho
Hot take
Regarding silenced pistols: Desmond actually uses one in AC3 after getting it from Daniel Cross, but there is really no stealth involved with it.
Splinter Cell Conviction is a good example how guns could work in an AC game.

Hot Take: Its crystal clear from AC 2 that this franchise was always going to be a full RPG. All the elements needed for one and mechanics built there are carried out and expanded upon through the rest of the franchise
I reckon it started in brotherhood because it’s the first game with a large wilderness compared to the city
@@PixelsNBeatsYT Yeah it's bigger but when you directly compare everything else- Brotherhood is just AC 2.0

I feel like this has been ignored since ac syndicate even though it wasnt that important in the game, but the latest ac games havent even mentioned them apart from valhalla
It was concluded in the comics. Odyssey refers to the aftermath in the present day segments in the London loft.
Adewale has the most badass equipment loadout. That blunderbuss & machete were just too much fun.
Hot take-I think game developers should alternate between releasing an RPG one year and then a more assassin-focused game the next year.
These hot takes are mischievous and so bad it gets to the point they are straight up heartbreaking.

I really want to see a modern day era AC game. Desmond missions in AC3 were really amazing and memorable for me. i do think that a stealth game with heavy emphasis on traversal and story would be great.

I want an Assassin's Creed game based on the modern day.
I think people have no idea what a hot take is. "AC Unity should've been delayed to 2015". No shit sherlock

Hot take: the silent musket from the AC game where you are a templar (i cant remember the name) is such a stupid idea. It just felt forced. They wanted guns, but its a stealth game, so instead of making it a crossbow, they made it a gun to appeal to people that asked for guns

I have another hot take, though I already posted one in that community post a while ago:
I like the mythological AC games.
Hot take: The reason I don't like the rpg AC games is because of the genres, I don't like RPGs that much and much rather prefer action adventure games with stealth like the older AC games
I bought AC Nexus on the Quest 2 and it is such a good game! Specially the Ezio missions

1. More buildings to climb
2. More social stealth (apart from the Mongol armor)
3. Cosmetic stuff such as hoods and hidden blades.
And finally 4. A subplot of a guy from the present who is looking for something that Jin Sakai casually found around some day.
assassin's creed 1 is the best game to date. it has aged incredibly well with it's mechanics, combat and stealth + the marvelous atmosphere
The Kenway/Abstergo Entertainment Saga (AC3-ACS) is better than the Ezio/Desmond Saga (AC1-AC3).
I think it would be so cool if they could do 2 ac games during ww1 and ww2, they could probly do alot with that
I actually agree with the take at 4:45. Especially if you want a stealth game and interesting missions.
are you serious dude?
@@scarfaceReaper I am. And I've been claiming for years that AC2 was the best game in the franchise.
@@FlashheadX so now its not? i mean sure the best is black flag but this is the first time i have seen a ezio fan saying its not a good game in recent years
And the fact that hiring the dancing girls made it even more easy
Would be nice if we had a Cold War era assassin’s creed
We really would benefit from a Chicago Great Depression era ac game featuring prohibition as a main story and side quest focus, speakeasys as bases, gang wars without starting a city-wide gang movement like in syndicate, political and criminal figures (what’s the difference lol), and more
Hot take
“I mean, we don’t know about her backstory.” Take some time to go through her computer files including emails in Origins, Odyssey and Valhalla.
Hot take, a ac game set in the cold war in Berlin when it was divided would be a good idea
Watch dogs is literally a modern day assasins creed game
Hot Take: (long one here)
while i love ezios story and character, and i find ac2 and brotherhoods worlds to look amazing. I personally find the ezio trilogy, in terms of actual openworld/gameplay. To be quite boring. I found the parkour (while prolly best in terms of control) to be boring and the combat to be very mundane (and yes, ac1 is one of my favorite games and first one i ever played)
But going from ac1 to ac2 i was almost rather disappointed.
Hottake: Edward Kenway has the best arc and redemption. From a man who only seeks glory and wealth to someone with morals and honour.
Can you make a video ranking the best assassination animations? I personally love the one in Origins, even tho is overused..
Ubisoft quebec have a mastery at changing tone of a time period by 180 degres
Hot take- my hot take is that Valhalla wasn’t a bad game. If it was a standalone series would be great and it got me into AC.
Hot take-Ac1 is the best game out of the franchise because it introduced everything we have for the ac games today (sorry if I made any errors)
Here's a post:
Were we not meant to live in peace then? Is that it? Are we born to argue? To fight? So many voices, each demanding something else. (AC3 Monolouge)
I do think this is what every Assassin has had to have thought at some point. That it's just endless fighting and for what? Get rid of the Templars and what do you replace it with then right? (My take)
