You know the fastest (ok 2nd fastest) way to get a truck driver to chase you around his truck? Break out a can of that with an owner/operator around lol. Be careful with finishes with that stuff. Itll strip wax, ceramic, or any other protections you have on your paint completely off. The fastest way to get them to chase you around their truck is by breaking their hood ornament. Been there done that. LoL

I'll see if I can find the video again but I saw something a while back dispelling that myth, actually it shouldn't really affect synthetic sealants or ceramic coatings, if you have a quality coating on your car a high pH all purpose cleaner shouldn't do anything to it. I have my wheels ceramic coated and use apc all the time on my rims, it's still holding up just as well as the day I applied it. I think the myth is there because it can leave a residue behind that masks the hydrophobic properties of sealants and coatings making it seem like the protection is gone. There is some deal of truth to this however with a natural carnauba wasx because the apc will strip grease, oil, and wax from all surfaces. So it's something to think about but modern high quality synthetic protection products shouldn't be all that affected by an all purpose cleaner. Thanks for watching and commenting!

@@DIYDad1 you are absolutely correct. I guess I left some important factors out. I was referring to long ago when I was a supervisor at a truck wash. It was back when the latest greatest paint was Imron paint. During the first years of them using that paint they had a bunch of issues one of them being the topcoat was easy to strip. Heck I don't even know what they are using on cars today. I think it was at the very same time car companies were fighting the paint popping off of their vehicles. I think Dodge had it the worst.

@@TheWatchmanNews oh man that brings back memories of seeing Dodge Neon's with the paint literally just peeling off the hoods haha! Yeah, paint tech in general has come a very long way in the last 20 years or so, even though clear coat has gotten thinner in recent years, you have to be very careful not to burn through it when polishing, especially my Subaru's they have very soft paint and will chip if you look at them funny.

@@DIYDad1 yea about that high speed polisher. Its best in anyone hands but mine lol. I have not buffed a car yet that I didn't burn. I used to work at a detail shop many many years ago and I am an incredible interior guy and I am great at washing and waxing as well as detailing wheels and trim but it doesn't matter what I do when I buff I either press too hard or move too slow. What I do the worst though is burn at edges. I need to find a matte clearcoat that will bond well with heat paint and be resistant to diesel fuel. Do you know of anything? I have a diesel parking heater that I painted flat black and put vinyl racing stripes on that needs to be repainted because the diesel took my paint off even though I baked the paint in my oven. I figure it needs something more resistant on top.

@@TheWatchmanNews yeah it's tricky at first, I'd start with a polish not a compound bit a very light finishing polish with a white or black finishing pad, light pressure, just let the pad do the work. Start the least aggressive and work your way up from there. I'll be doing a polishing video in the near future hopefully when I have time! As for clear coat, I don't know anything specifically, but a lot of people have recommended 2k, they might have a lower gloss or matte finish available this is simple for small touch up areas since it's in aerosol Spray max USC 2k High Gloss Clearcoat Aerosol a.co/d/fBCMmT2
