    Nice iron Chris. I have that XZACT BUT,,, it's a chicken fryer. Question,,, LODGE? MYSTERY? BLACKLOCK???? We may never know huh?!?!?!

    Do you not need to rub the entire surface? is that only necessary for the first layer or two of seasoning, going forward I can just do the cooking surface?

      For maintenance, only the cooking surface it necessary since that’s all the cooking and most of the cleaning takes place. I actually do put some on the bottom because the flame in my gas stove marks up the bottom and the oil gets rid of it. So long story short, only the cooking surface is necessary but doing the whole thing won’t hurt- just make sure you wipe off the excess WELL!

      Riiiiick D!!!!! Howdy PICIC. I usually soak my rags in da HOTTTTEST I CAN MAKE,,, WATER & DAWN DISHLIQUID. Works for what it's for lol.

      I use bandanas, and for me personally, I’ll use them until they get rancid, and toss them out. Then my clean rag(the one I used to wipe off the excess) becomes the main oiling rag, and I get a new clean bandana.

      So..a bucket with hot water n Dawn, let soak, swish n mangle, then rinse and air dry, or…throw into washing machine after the bucket treatment?
