    Amazing insights, man!
Thing is, people don’t recognise strength when they see it and they fall for bravado and overcompensation so often.
Who has greater strength of character? David Goggins who, as you rightly point out, is destroying himself daily for no real reason. Or someone out of shape but content? I’d rather be the out of shape guy. Being content is SO powerful.
This is why steroid use is so stupid, too. “The side effects are minimal if you just do a tiny bit - natties are mediocre.” Right - so you want to risk your health to remain a mediocre steroid user? The only way to progress at that point is to take more and destroy yourself more. What a brilliant metaphor that person becomes.
This is why expression > growth. Do what you enjoy. That’s all there is to it!

Amen, you hit the nail on the head. Contentment is undervalued and underrated. That's not a reason to be lazy but it let's you have a better reason for training and pursuits. I'm in my 40s now and I think of it as discovering or accessing what I'm capable of rather than 'being better'. Tap into the potential periodically, enjoy it, keep showing up, stepping it up when needed and also easing off when required. Mentally and emotionally beating yourself up isn't what it's all about.

I am loving my start to 2025 😂
Simplified my life, I changed my routines, new habits in and bad habits out. Amazed at how easy my this had worked. I treat life now like ‘groundhog day’, I try to make today a great day, a perfect day. Each evening I reset, journal today and plan tomorrow. I am taking it easy on myself, if my day doesn’t go too plan then that’s ok, that’s life.
At 56 I workout five days a week, daily sauna, eating better, better work life balance, less stress and pressure (especially internal pressure) which makes me happier and better to be around. Next week I start stop smoking, cold turkey so expect it will take a few weeks to stop, instead of dry Jan doing dry 1qtr so 1/3 way in and it’s going well even though I had a glass of wine on my birthday and last night a bottle of beer to celebrate one month in.
Advice I give my daughters is keep your life simple, don’t try to jam everything in but instead just do the things that help the tomorrow you. Enjoy each day and understand that the only thing that you control is the way you spend your time
The last bad habit I have is spending to much time watching UA-cam and channels like yours don’t help 😂

One who hates himself is restlessness, have a revolving stomach, mind and heart, he must act, move, reach out undeserved new territories, he must lie, steal and do whatever is needed to satisfy the never ending bottomless pit of his own desire, it works, it brings material and social success (the bargain with the devil, who is the lord of this material and earthly realm). On the other hand, the one who practice self-love and compassion is joyful, have a peaceful stomach, mind and heart, he must also act, move and reach out but only to welcoming new territories, he must affirm the truth, give and do what is needed to satisfy the wronged and needy, it works, it brings spiritual and self success and wholeness no matter his material and social state (the covenant with Christ-God, Who is the Lord of the Immaterial and Heavenly Realm). If we are not in this second state, we do not love ourselves enough yet. Keep the good work.

Great point, I've thought of that myself. In some ways it's a tricky balance, cuz sometimes it's fine to have a phase where you do the right things for the wrong reason, simply cuz it can be hard to do "the right things" for the right reason.... but if it's like a phase and then you can let it go but reap the benefits, or have developed a habit that's poistive... like for myself, I don't think I would have gotten in the habit of consistent physical training if not for this need to impress others, gradually that need has become less and less, though it's still there just to such a small degree that it wouldn't have gotten me to train, if not I'd experienced a lot of benefits physically and most of all mentally.... Sometimes you can haave a drive that's there for the wrong reason, but once you gain further perspective, you can still be appreciative of where that drive got you and manage to let go off the gas a bit without completely turning the engine off.

    Re: David Goggins:
Like you said the difficulty with "all-encompassing concepts" - What he does is not another attempt at being really good at something. Or gaining something at a specific point in time. It is literally not for everybody, and this is not a brag. Unfortunately for some, the way we are wired means that "happiness in time" is simply not in the cards, and neither is constant "contentment" in the here and now. Goggins shows a way to be content in the actual strain itself, this is where a momentary relief is possible and that's why it's worth chasing anew. The goal is not improvement or fame or future. It's a form of meditation, ie self-manifestation. If one doesn't have that problem, there's easier ways to get shredded or develop crazy stamina. For some, it's the way to feel alright and in the right place, if only for a moment.
I'm sorry I always feel inclined to defend this guy when the "it's unhealthy badassery" stuff comes up. He helped me make the most of my time here but I'm aware that price need not be paid by everyone.
Thank you for another great video at any rate!

I love it man especially the part where you said to “stop and smell the roses" those words got to me bro, I never realized it bro well I mean 95% of the time, but at at times bro I do have that inner voice saying look how far I’ve come, but that’s on rare occasions. Cause I be so focus on the next things like I physically exist in the present but, my state is in the future if that makes sense!

Some complex ideas in here. There was an ancient Taoist idea that used to haunt me when I was young & training Tai chi chuan; "The Master does nothing, yet nothing is left undone." Now I understand that a huge part of this equation is a whittling away of the parts of life that are not serving our inner nature. Piece by piece, these things are removed. From their removal is generated "nothing"; the space that generates potential. From my own experience if I try to fill this potential with thoughts & actions that stimulate curiosity, and run parallel with my inner nature, I have endless fuel to pursue those things that offer fulfillment.
Fulfillment is the landscape happiness gazes on.
