As to the books. Reading them comes with a warning. The first three books are some of the best story telling you will ever see. But then it happens. Martin seems to have gotten bored with the story or is chasing the money with other more lucrative projects over writing his books. The first three books averaged coming out about 3 years apart. The 4th book was I think 7 years. And not only that, about a month before it was released, Martin announced he was splitting the book in half because of it being over1800 pages. But not to worry, the second half of the book is almost done and should be out the next year. Well, he did split the book in half but heres the thing. He didn't do it chronologically. He sort of did it horizontally. What I mean is, the first half of the book had all the lesser and less interesting characters in it. The second half took place at the same period as the first half but had all the good characters. And somehow the first half was a better book. Oh, by the way, the second half didn't come out for another 7-8 years. With Martin, you will get used to him lying about how far along he is with a book. Martin was too busy going on pizza crawls, giving speeches, acting the star and working on this tv show to be bothered working on these books. He even was writing other books instead of doing these. So basically, he was doing everything in the world other than working on these books. Case in point. Why the F.... is he writing House of the Dragon, among many other things, instead of finishing the original series? A final thought and warning about reading the books. The tv show started in 2011. Supposedly, Martin was already well into writing the next book. The tv show ended in 2019 and it's now 2023 and he is STILL WORKING ON THE SAME BOOK he was when the tv show started. He keeps saying it's almost done but he has been saying that for 10 years. Not only that, he has said the book is at least as long as the one he previously split. So you just know he is going to split this one again and we are only going to get half a book with promises of the second half shortly. Yeah right. The man is well into his 70's and fat. And there is supposed to be at least one more book after this one. So I ask you, are you prepared to start reading a series of books that will most likely, definitely, will never be finished? Not only that but in my opinion, the last two he split in half are not nearly as good as the first three. Don't get me wrong, they are still good. If you can handle the main plot not moving more than a few inches ahead. Knowing what I know now, I would never have started the books and just stuck with the best tv show ever made. But to each their own
I heard there was drama between him and his fans for taking so long but I wasn't aware of the details, thanks. When you said split horizontally I laughed out loud because it reminds me of a classic scene in Funny Farm where he allows her to read his script in that lovely cabin w champagne. She reads it and doesn't laugh when he thinks she should then he asks if she understood the flashback. She says honey the story flashes forward, flashes backwards, flashes sideways and I STILL DON'T GET IT!
I'm willing to bet with all his success he was getting hired on the DL to do touch ups in Hollywood. Like William Goldman. He was probably taking millions and is still pocketing millions reworking storyline and character for other productions. Can we blame him? No. Would the fans appreciate more honesty? Sure. but contracts like those will never have his name on the final project. Can't blame him if the cheddar is there. Do you really think he has a block? I don't think it's possible.
@@MIRROREDRECOLLECTION I heard of the show/movie but never saw it. See, I almost did what you did before and said "Shitz Creek." LOL. What a great line! That is pretty funny.
@@MIRROREDRECOLLECTION Actually, that was sort of his job before he started writing novels. So thats a good point you made there. I bet he is doing that on the side as well. Listen, I don't blame him one bit for taking on extra work like that and getting all the money he can. My problems with him begin with his pompous attitude when you call him out on stuff. He literally is like, "I'm a genius. Now because your bothering me, I will take even longer." He has something on his web site that describes all the stuff he is doing. Book(Professionally) related and personal stuff. It's called "Not a Blog." In it, he is clearly bragging how he is going to all these conventions. Pizza crawls with fans in other cities. Working on other projects. Screaming at the tv because the Jets or Giants lost a game. He's from NJ I believe but lives in Arizona. Or maybe New Mexico. Selling out of date, signed calendars for 5 times their worth and other memorabilia from his house. I am not making that up. And giving one "the dog ate my homework" excuse after another for why his books are not done. He CONSTANTLY LIES or exaggerates how far along the book is with some odd ball excuse and why he will be writing more shortly. He actually said that covid would be a good thing for him and his writing because he could lock himself away in isolation and finish up the book. How did that work out book wise? LOL. Isn't that sort of admitting that he is not prioritizing the books? And the book never seems to get done. He is clearly stringing peeps along. His best and most famous excuse is "he does a lot of traveling and he can ONLY write with his old word processor from the 1980's. And it's too big to take with him when he travels." LOL. But my biggest problem with him is, in that same "Not a Blog," He is constantly pitching all the other projects, books, short stories comics, animations, tv shows, action figures and props he is helping to design, for sale. STOP working on all those other things until you finish the books that made you famous. So, thats not writers block. Thats him not interested and or just chasing more lucrative projects. If he would just cut out the other projects he is working on for his franchise and write the original series. HE would have been done. And the best part is, whenever he has a new book, tv show whatever coming out, is when he acts a little humble and will give an exaggerated update about how the new book is almost done. He even will work on and release companion pieces (Graphic Books, usually) filled with NOT SO NEW tid bits about the original series and promote them every chance he gets instead of the dam book. Thats when he will lie a lot about how the book is almost done. He can't do the companion piece for the parts that haven't been written yet. So he just rehashes stuff he has written and sells it as something new. He's doing that instead of writing the book?!?!?!?! When he has nothing new coming out, he won't talk about how far a long he is and he gets a "tude" if you ask him about it. To me, his ONLY block is he would rather be working on other things, for whatever reasons, than his main books. I imagine he sits down now to work on it, gets annoyed because he feels he is being pressured to work on something he dosn't want to and then gets nothing done. And whats the point of finishing now anyway? I am sure he gave HBO his notes to how he wanted "Game" to go once the tv show passed the books in the 5th and 6th seasons. So why would he write the same thing in the tv show in the books? Or why would he write something new only for peeps to say they liked the tv show better? In final, all this would be fine with me if he were honest about it. But instead he exaggerates and lies about it because he wants us fans to buy his other stuff he is enjoying doing. Also, he has written ONE HOUSE OF THE DRAGON BOOK. And they quickly made it into a tv show. Season two is coming out but there is no book 2 for it to follow. And he has other GoT's things in the oven with HBO. It's clear to me that he writes just the bare bones for each new series to get it started and lets someone else finish it for him. Again, all fine and good. Just be honest so peeps don't run out and buy a book for a story you will never finish. Because thats clearly happening with House of the Dragon too. As you can see, this dude triggers me. LOL.

LOL.

Majority of women don’t have the arm and chest muscles to fire a bow (Yes the can hit a target but don’t produce the kinetic energy to punch through armour).
Very true some of those bows are 100+ lb pull

I mean no disrespect, but it’s painfully clear that this is not the show for you. This show requires a minimum level of intelligence to understand. My advice is to switch to a different show ASAP to avoid further embarrassment and frustration.
I'll be going into the next one with my thinking cap and subtitles on. Thanks for the comment.
