Miss Americana & The Heartbreak Prince is about her feeling disillusioned about the state of American politics following the 2016! It's all an extended metaphor for the election and the current political climate in the US. I believe she confirmed this in an interview with the Guardian, although I'm not entirely sure it was that publication.

At the end of Daylight, she says I wanna be defined by the things that I love Not the things I hate Not the things I'm afraid of, I'm afraid of Or the things that haunt me in the middle of the night I, I just think that You are what you love
It's Nice to Have a Friend is so gorgeous in an understated, haunting kind of way. I know it won't get the most love when compared to songs like Daylight or Cruel Summer, but I'm happy she added something kinda odd and unique into the mix
Yeah. I agree with you. I loved Fearless album ‘cause when I listened to it I was in high school I fancy her music so much. Then came Speak Now album which full of emotions and made me love it even more. When I was 19 I was so sad that I had to work in a city which was soooo far from my family, and then 1989 came out with great, great songs & I listened to it every single day when I’m sitting on the bus to work. It made me feel better every time I listened to it. So, it’s all about the time and the moment when you listen to an album. Yet for me Lover is timeless, I don’t need to be in love to jump to the feeling of the entire album, it grows to your heart & memories and that’s why I think Lover is my most favorite Taylor Swift’s album. And we’ve got the same favorite song on this album, I love Afterglow, too. 😇
So majority of this album was Produced my Jack Antonoff. You should definitely react to a one of his projects by his band Bleachers. Very 80s inspired production, full of surprises!!
I have nothing negative to say about this video, but you are such a perfect critique! I swear first time I watched your reaction, I have no regrets or whatsoever! Keep loving music and lyrics! P.S. My favorite is 'Afterglow' ❤️
I am absolutely loving your technical review of this. I’m a music producer and you are being so helpful in your explanations, especially with the vocal harmonies.
"The damsels are depressed..." "Boys will be boys, where are the wise men..." I hear the song as an allegory for the current state of political affairs, the misogyny, lawlessness in our leaders, etc., and how all this affects women--and good people in general.
I've been listening to the CD for a good several weeks now. I think it's my favorite of all her albums--I'm a huge fan of 1989 and Reputation, but I like this even more. More than with those albums, her songwriting here sounds sincere, written genuinely from real emotion, and it feels to me like there is more variety in her approach from song to song than with the past couple of albums. My favorite cut is "False God," but the title track is great, too. Also love "Cruel Summer," "Cornelia Street," and "Daylight." Oddly enough, maybe, the only cuts I don't care for are a couple of the singles--"Me" and "Calm Down."
I would say this reaction is your best ever and it made my day!! 🥰 Wonderful and balanced mix of comments and attitudes on lyrics plus analyses of instrumentals and vocals!Every point of view is precisely and honestly delivered through all the details of melodies and sound effects you lively repeated 😆 How could you be so cool and cute at the same time while you’re giving your opinions! Jumping between Daylight and False God ---- mmmm ---- oh okay the whole DAMN ITS 7AM album its so, so special - listened to it all weekend and watched a ton of reaction stuff... comments from David and Amos I from her band underscore that this album is incredible. Love her older stuff but this is whole new level. So back in the day albums like Hotel California, Dark Side of The Moon, Rumours etc etc all masterpieces of their time BUT multiple songwriters and contributors to make those special. Taylor drives this all on her own which for me makes Lover best album ever - "like ever" and that's from a London boy (Hackney) made in 62 :) ----- love your analysis and I am sure time will have you choosing Lover too
You were so right about Cornelia Street! She said that she usually stops herself mid-song to consult other songwriters, but she couldn't stop writing on Cornelia St and finished it by herself
Noticed that almost no one noticed in album reviews that "Ahh" after the pre-chorus in Paper Rings and I think that's such a nice touch in the album, so off-guard for me.
I really like how you break down the songs you react to. Would be interesting to see what you have to say about Auroras ep/album: Infections of a different kind Step 1 and/or A different kind of human Step 2.
I absolutely love this album. So many of the songs on this album had bits that reminded me of old songs. MA&THP is reminiscent of So It Goes. Paper Rings has a moments that give me serious Ours vibes. Several times on this album I’d be like “where have I heard that,” and then it would hit me. It gives me nostalgia, and I feel like I’ve heard the songs before, but also they feel brand new, if that makes sense.

Also about drinking & yeah, it’s very depressing.
I will never understand how you know every single aspect of production during one listen but you also focus on the lyrics???
