3rd method: Patch Up-link Lan1 to Lan1 & Lan2 to Router. The NVR-Lan port to the Router. This would leave you room for 8 open ports for cameras, correct?
Hi, I have 8 channel NVR and two POE switches as above with 4 POE ports. Now I do not have an option to connect two switches as in video. I'm trying to connect uplink port of one switch to NVR's POE port (let's say channel1) and second POE switch's uplink port to NVR's channel 5 directly. This setup works with one switch but not with two switches. Can you help or if I'm missing anything here?
Hello, if your NVR is an 8 channel NVR, the maximum number of cameras you can connect to it is 8 cameras. Also, when POE ports are embedded into the NVR, there will not be need to add a POE Switch to your NVR. In case i haven't gotten your question addressed to your satisfaction, please get back to me again. Best Regards.
Thanks a bunch for this tutorials. I love to know the function of the second LAN 2 Port use for since all connections is happening in only LAN 1 in the POE switch? Thanks
Hello Jacob, I guess you are referring to the 2nd Uplink port. It also serves as another means of output to the switch. It can be best described as a second out put so to speak.
So how do I look for the switch from my NVr? I can setup the switch and plug it into the router at my friends but how do I communicate with the switch or his router from my NVr?
How do i fix unable to connect my jovision nvr remotely because my nvr has two lab ports and am using two Poe switch also and when ever i connect a lan cable with internet to one of the nvr lan ports all my channels goes off
The cameras may go off and come back because a new network is introduced, they will come back on. however, connect each nvr lan to each poe switch and try again. Please let me know how it goes after trying it
One more question. How should I connect the NVR to the internet? Since the networking port has been occupied by the lan cable which is connected to the switch.
There are many ways to do that. Once the internet is connected to the same switch to which the NVR or DVR is connected, the internet will be received on the all devices connected to the switch. I have planned a video that addresses this question. I will send the video link to you when am done but there is a similar video that some how addresses this question. You can watch this ua-cam.com/video/9332RrSYoYo/v-deo.html
You cannot turn off power to an individual camera, so long as they are all connected to thesame POE switch. What is possible is to remove its individual connection to switch because there are no controls for regulating power to each port on the POE switch.

Hello great video! Could you help me with the following questions ? If I connect 8 cameras to a switch and then to an NVR PoE port will the NVR be able read all of them automatically and have proper AI function (Hikvision Accusense) Do I have to use 5port switches and connect 3 cameras to each of them and then each switch to the NVR PoE ports to have automatic detection of the cameras and proper AI function? If I connect a single 8 port switch to the router and the NVR lan port to the router will it recognize them automatically and work the AI on their input image properly?
Hello, Yes the NVR will automatically pick all the 8 cameras and they will all function well. Using an 8 port POE switch is most advised when you have it. The situation that requires the use of two switches is when you are placing the cameras on a storey building where you may place one switch at each floor to handle a number of cameras and then link the two switches to one nvr so that you can have all the cameras on one screen.

As I understand 4 cameras from bottom one switch and 3 cameraas from top switch because one of the port on top switch will be used by bottom switch. So is this method can support 7 cameras? Is it somehow possible to use 8 cameras with those 2 switches?
Hello, with the methods i illustrated, the one that can help maximise the ports for more cameras is the one that uses a router. You can watch this video that best illustrates the method that supports more cameras and more switches if necessary.
Hello anyone. I have question. By using this device , can i combine two different internet service provider so that i can get faster internet. Is it possible?
If the devices to be connected to the switch require a substantial amount of bandwidth, the best way to connect them is by the use of a router to which all the switches will be connected to avoid network congestion.
Nice. Can we use simple switch instead of wireless router to connect between 2 POE switches? Secondly, i don't have any "Up Link" port in my POE switch, which method will use?
Yes, you can link the switches directly without using a router but the use of a router is most ideal. Second Question: You can use any of the ports on the switch to give an output of the switch, it would work just in thesame way as an Uplink port.
Alway when you connect two switches together using uplink port on both switches. Then connect nvr to the second uplink port, and the last uplink port for internet.
Sir, i want to ask some question, i hope you will answer me. 1. does that mean that if we use a router (method 2), we don't need to connect between POE to POE with LAN cable? 2. in method 1, POE to POE use straight or cross lan cable? thankyou sir.
Hello, 1. No need to connect the POE Switch to the other POE Switch. 2. I used straight through cables, but cross over cables also work, provided it an ethernet cable and well terminated.
Hi, i noticed you are using 2 units of 4-channel PoE switch, so must it be a requirement therefore that the NVR be 8- channel? Also, what if you use only 1 unit of 4-channel, will your 8-channel NVR still works?
Hello, It is not really a requirement to use 2 units of 4 port switches on an 8 channel nvr, you can use a straight 8 port POE switch on it. Likewise if you use just one 4 port POE switch on an 8 channel NVR, the only challenge that will arise will be that you can only connect 4 cameras when infact you could do more than the 4 cameras since the NVR can accommodate up to 8 cameras. There is an application for which reason i made this particular video, i guess i have not been able to strongly get that application acrosswell enough so i will try and do a video on the application of linking to switches on to an NVR.
Thank you for your reply. In your Demo, are you using 8-channel NVR? What if you use only 1 switch (4-Channels), will your 8-channel NVR still records?
