Sharon, your point about plastic toys on cakes not always being a bad idea was very well-presented and logical and has caused me to re-think my own stance (very similar to yours when you started out). And the above cake is lovely BTW. My single question would be how you would determine the number of servings a customer could expect to get from such a cake. Any thoughts?
I usually estimate based on how much cake I cut off. If it looks like I cut off about 20% then I deduct 20% from the number of servings the original size was supposed to feed. If you want to be super accurate, you can weigh the cake before and then weigh the offcuts. Hope that makes sense :)
That's so beautiful! Love the layering effect. Could you please tell me the brand of gold highlighter you use? I use Rolkem, but it's nowhere near as bright. Thanks. 😃
Hey Rachel, I used a product called Edible Art Paint to paint the ganache. I didn't mix it with anything and it's especially formulated to paint on edible surfaces like chocolate. You can read more about it here - www.weelovebaking.com/2017/08/introducing-the-sharon-wee-collaborative-colour-collection/
You can use gel colour mixed with alcohol and add a bit of white gel paste as well, but it might not apply as smooth and will take a little longer to dry. Or you can always cover in dark green fondant :)
Sharon Wee Creations I will test it out with gel colors then. Sometimes, I tired of covering with fondant so this is definitely a faster alternative. Thanks Sharon!

Hi Sharon! What did you mix with the gel pastes to color the ganache? Always looking forward to seeing your new creations. 😊

Sharon Wee Creations thanks for your reply. I don't have access to it yet locally. What can be an alternative for me? Gel paste or candy color?
