Can’t wait for EUC manufacturer’s to start innovating in this size range again. I want a mini V12!
I’ve been waiting patiently for this review! The InMotion V8s is my first wheel, and even though I now have 3 other wheels (these guys have a way of multiplying quickly!) I still ride mine on a daily basis. Pound for pound this wheel has amazing range and just enough speed to get around at commuter bicycle speeds. I still ride my V8s because because this wheel is so nimble, it keeps my balance true, and my senses sharp. I do have a few long hills on my commute, and so far, no overheat problems in the Pacific Northwest. I can squeak 32 miles out of a charge with conservative riding (165-170lb rider). The only thing I would change is the pedals, and switch the stock pedals with some Nylo Noves (if you can actually get the darn things) I’ll likely keep my V8s for life (after a few battery pack replacements I’m sure!) I'll be sure to keep it wheel! ◉
Hi! Im around 200lbs weight, would it suit me too as a beginner?
@@popeyepanther4519 I'm sure the V8s would make a great starter wheel for anyone - due its light weight, it can take drops better and sustain less damage than heavier wheels (see 7:09). This is why I chose the V8s as my learner wheel AFTER I got my InMotion v12. Adam suggests max weight of the rider to be 100kg (220 lbs) see 7:30 - so, I would think you should be fine. I would keep in mind that the heavier weight the wheel has to carry, the more easier you should be on it (easy acceleration, don't drop off curbs or stress the axle, take it slow on hills, and lower your speed) There has been times after a grocery trip with a loaded pack, or near the end of a extra long ride, that I got off the wheel, popped up the trolley handle, and walked up steep hills. The V8s usually comes with a protective crash jacket, I would use it in learning and after. Your wheel will thank you. My V8s has a EUC Bodyguard, with a red stripe. It really does the trick, and looks cool.
@@popeyepanther4519 how much is it
Update: Just got the Nylo Nove pedals for my V8s today! Finally, the perfect little ride. The Nylo Nove pedals compliments this wheel so well, because they are light, strong, and with the cleated honeycomb pattern, works well in wet commutes without clogging full of dirt.
Mine is on the way to me this week. I am so excited. Your review really helped me a lot, thanks.
I got mine for cheap back in August as my first wheel ($500+ cheaper than a 16xs). It’s been a great experience, and I’m sure I’ll be upgrading soon. I’m much bigger than your recommendation (100 kg) and it’s been fine, it’s plenty zippy. I’ve loved how easy it is to live with. Riding to the commuter rail to go downtown or to stores around my suburban house is easy-peasy. It’s small, I throw it in a cart if I’m grocery shopping or trolley around if I’m just picking up a few things. I’ll continue to use it for those purposes even after I get something faster for more fun. This thing is still plenty fun, but I can easily put it wherever I want one handed which would be much harder with something 70+ pounds.
Currently riding a V8F for a year now for daily commute. Did 5000km with it and still no noticeable battery efficiency drop
Awesome!!!
Cool! I did only 1500 km in a year on my V8F.
How do you keep battery health very well?
You should get a v8s for more range
Hi Adam, really enjoyed the review of the update to the classic V8! Keep up the great work! 👍😎🙏
Thank you sir always appreciate it when you drop by into the comment section Rob ☺️
Very good review Sir! Riding a V8F as my second (third?) wheel and I really love it. I bought it for my wife, as she is a small person and the larger wheels would be too heavy for her, but I ended up using it myself more than I use the other (bigger) wheels I have. I love to ride it a bit in the evening when I come from work and I am too tired to wrestle with a larger bear. I already put over 500 km into it. The only difference compared with V8S is the smaller battery size/range, for the V8F I get only close to 30 km riding near to max speed (80+ kg person). But that make V8F even lighter and easier to handle, and if you occasionally need range, then you use a bigger wheel. I would like to mention that it is quite easy to add a BT adapter to it, you can buy a receiver for two bucks on aliexpress, the quality is not great, but for a wheel you don't need Hi-Fi. Also, one peculiarity with it is the fact that the screws on one side of the wheel will open/unscrew while riding (CAUTION!), and they need periodical tightening, while the screws on the other side are always tighten to max and you can't move them a micron (there are 12 screws on each side holding the motor lids, there was no loctite or thread lock on them, and I didn't add any, yet, but this phenomenon does happen, I don't know why, maybe some gyroscopic or coriolis effect due to wheel rotation, screws on one side tend to rotate left, and unscrew, while on the other side they tend to rotate right and tighten themselves - this is real, not a joke, you need to add thread lock, or tighten them every 100-200km or so - edit: this is easy to do by lifting the small lid under the foot plates, you don't need to take the wheel apart).
re: heating, riding the V8F in very hot Thailand, hilly/mountain roads, paved only, no off-road, 80kg+ rider, never had any overheating issue (sorry for replying to myself :D)
2:54 Well that was the best thing I've ever seen. That one is going straight into my riding arsenal
Bit beyond my ability I think :-)
Honestly I've been commuting on the V5F since February (my first wheel) in Paris, and it's very nice... but the top 25Kmh and max ~20Km range are _barely_ enough to, say, visit a friend who's at the other side of the city. And most streets in Paris are limited to 30Kmh for cars, so if you're in a streets without bycicles tracks, you're slower than the cars, which I experienced to be dangerous even if it's not by a big margin. So I wanted to upgrade just a bit and the the V8S seemed to be the perfect answer while watching your video! Pretty much the same wheel but with just the upgrade of top speed and range I needed, a better trolley, and all the same features I'm used to and like a lot on the V5F!
But then I looked at the price, and saw around ~1.5k Euros to get one in France too. As your pointed out, for the same price I could get a KingSong 16X which boasts, at least on paper, legit twice the speed and range upgrades (and allegedly better weight tolerance, which is nice since I'm 96Kg and often wears a heavy backpack). I got my V5F for 550 Euros, the difference in prices with the V8S compared to the gain in performances just feels ridiculous, so I feel a bit lost... =/
just like you!
HI Adam, Fantastic review, especially for folks who are new to EUCs (like myself). Learned about battery balancing. I think this format will serve you well in the future.
Thank you so much! Appreciate it!
i heard you should avoid large bumps and curves with the Inmotion V8S because the shaft can snap. reviewer on amazon wrote, "The issue is with the axle that attaches the wheel to the rest of the EUC. these are not made to take hard impacts like bumps and curbs, and will snap the axle."
This wheel is the best. I got a used V8F with only 200km on it for $700 CAD. I love how light-weight it is. It's easy to throw in the trunk. I have a KS-18XL, but I find it too heavy for short rides. Oh I should mention that my handle is getting stuck now for some reason. So I put a sponge in the way so it can't go down all the way. I'm not sure why it's getting stuck, but it sucks using it when I don't have a handle and I'm indoors.
The original Inmotion V8 EUC is the biggest selling wheel of all time internationally. The V8S adds more range and bigger pedals. I have a V8F and upgraded to a V11. I recently pulled out the V8F to visit some community garage sales. It was such a great choice. It's easy to maneuver in tight spaces even when using the trolley handle to shop and it's light enough to carry without straining. I often put it behind my driver's seat when i'm taking my kids to appointments and ride it while I wait. You may outgrow this wheel as you progress but you won't want to get rid of it.
I am looking to get into EUC. This looks perfect for me. Something I can ride leisurely around the city from time to time, something I can do short commutes with and stow in the office, something I can keep in my car trunk for auxiliary transport.
Thanks for the review.
I wish reviewers would separate off the original V8 in discussions. It is not the same wheel as the F & S versions. The V8F and the V8S are not a V8 with bigger batteries.
I've had my V8F since may 2020 and 400+mi, all urban roads no intentional abuse. It has been perfect as an occasional run-to-the-store PEV. I'm a 270lb rider using 45psi.
Tail light is a big deal, I'm not interested in a better headlight. It let's me be seen, I'll carry my own light, at night, if needed. I do wish the tire was wider.
I believe that even the manufacturer says technically the on,y change is the battery.
This one nearly pushed me to get it, battery anxiety/tail light are my concerns. Thanks WW.
Just got this a few days ago. Trying to learn while finding the time and space to try it. I have been able to practice in kitchen.
I think there is passive battery balancing. At 4:17 into the video, looking at the BMS board on the battery pack you see 19 pads labeled B1 to B19, plus B- and B+ for a total of 21 wires, that would be used to independently sense all 20 voltages from the 20 pairs of cells in the 20S2P pack. This would allow for passive balancing logic that would have 20 voltage triggered switches that enable (relatively grounded) resistors to hold fully charged cell pairs at a fixed voltage while the other cell pairs continue to charge, until all cell pairs were fully charged, and all 20 switches triggered. My V8F has always had a max charged voltage of 83.6 volts, which would translate into the balancing switches limiting voltage to 4.18 volts per cell pair for a total of 83.6 volts. On the V8F BMS board, those 19 pads are labeled TB1 to TB19, while B- and B+ remain the same.
Ofcourse there is balancing. Every Inmotion wheel does have balancing
@@slick1908 - V5F BMS doesn't have any resistors that could be used for balancing so no balancing is confirmed for V5F. V8F has 1K ohm resistors and if there is passive cell balancing (full charge), the resistance is too high and related current too low (4.2 mA max) to provide enough time for any significant balancing before a cell pair reaches overvoltage and the V8F shuts off charging. It's possible that the V8F balances during a very long (8+ hour) and slow discharge from 84 volts down to 82.5 volts, if left connected to a charger. Once down to 82.5 volts, it reenables charging and starts another 8+ hour cycle. So far no one has been able to confirm if the V8F balances during that long discharge cycle.
Hi, I'm new to EUC riding and looking to buy my first euc. I'm a truck driver in the U.S. so I need portability, and I want to get around to restaurants and grocery stores that could be miles away from where I'm allowed to park. I was considering the Inmotion V8s as my first purchase. I'm 6' 4" (193cm) and 95 kg, and after watching your review I'm reconsidering that purchase. Any suggestions for a first time purchase?
The trick you did in 2:56 was my first ever trick I learnt on my wheel 😁
I really need one of these im from America and currently am riding my bike 7.5 miles everyday to work with soucks and bugs are nasty here the price of these suprise me but I have a week before I can buy one because I only have 600$usd currently I really hope it's worth it for my summer commute and all the painfull back and forth thanks for the vid
Great review 👍 I am a complete newbie on the EUC! Last week I got a used Air wheel X3 and V5! Will try the V5 this weekend! I used to have a Onewheel Pint but never felt safe on it lol And recently sold an electric skateboard!
Inmotion v8s is on sale, and they are offering a 10% discount on top. Just bought one a v8s-2023 for $630 brand new!
just made my purchase it was on sale i run a landscaping business with alot og walking at commercial businesses this will work perfectlyyyyyyy
Acceleration test peak values - 32.46 amps (fuse is 30 amps, but since it's a blade fuse, it's spec'ed to run at 33 amps a minimum of 100 hours). 2441 watt peak. Battery pack only sagged about 7 volts, from about 82 volts to 75 volts. How did you get a PWM percentage (peak was 71%)? I'm thinking the V8F doesn't provide this, but maybe the V8S does? Current is higher than battery current and may be motor current instead?
Thanks so much for this video! How might one compare this to the 16S? I'm looking for a newer wheel to commute around the city but am still pretty satisfied with the specs of the 16S.
I still love using my Ninebot One E+, I know that is an old wheel now, but it's useful in precisely the ways that makes this wheel good. If I was to replace it. This would be the wheel I would buy.
Haha me too I have an E+! I'm keeping it like some weirdos keep their antique cars 😂
That's the only wheel that cutout on me tho.. as I'm used to stay quick and fast, I wasn't used to start slow, so I did a nice headplant🤣
@@legyroquoi I am printing carbon fiber foot plates for mine as we speak. I still ride mine surprisingly often, though I also have an S18 and a 16X.
I own a Kingsong KS-14D and I want to upgrade to a larger wheel for better ride stability in rough urban roads. I also have a back problem and always underinflate my tire. Would this wheel still give a better suspension compared to an 14" wheel?
Just got a V8F for my wife Jane. Thanks for this video!
Can I swap out the battery pack for more range? & can't we add a Bluetooth chip?
A question; I stand at 5'7 & weight fluctuate between 190 & 195, for now (I'm working on losing about 25 more pounds). Anyway, question is what Brand/ model of these unicycle would you recommend?
I'm a 51 year old vet whose been a workaholic for years, I'm trying to get back to enjoying being out & about to relax outside. I bought a ebike & love it (its on a flat now) but think a unicycle will be even more relaxing but I have no idea which one to buy. I don't want to start with a beginners because it's a waste of money (I did that with the ebike & within 2 or 3 days I wished I had bought a more powerful one for greater range & ended up paying a few hundred more to modify it from 350w to 1000w which unfortunately drain the factory battery quicker so now I have to spend more money to upgrade that). So I'm looking for unicycle kinda in the middle, not a cheap beginner one that'll I be trying to upgrade within a week or 2 but certainly not one of those $3000+ ones (I don't have that kind of leisure money laying around just to be trying something I may or may not like).
Buenas.. consulta v8s o v10f ? cual es tu preferida? Podrás hacer un vídeo comparativo? Gracias... Saludos desde argentina...
The wheel looks fun, but JUST underpowered for how I ride. The Tesla is the smallest wheel I like to ride as I find myself going 25 or 30 mph easily and comfortably. On top of that, I have never ridden Inmotion or King Song wheels, so I don't know what I'm missing. Thnaks again for a very thorough review of such an old wheel. I think we need both big/fast wheels and small/nimble wheels and I really enjoy seeing channels review older wheels instead of only paying attention to the newest ones.
What tesla the v2 or v3?
@@johnford5627 I have a T3
I think it's very disputed the fact that three is no passive balancing here. Seem some one source and some lost in translation stuff from a Russian shop is the origin of it? It probably had untraditional looking balancing and I'm guessing the older IM has as well. Or how are they the wheels with least reported fires and the like but very high buy rates. Seems unbalanced cells would been more of an issue there
Hi Euc People,
I have a question for your guys! I have the v11 and now the v8s, I agree with the video and really don’t like the flat pedals on the v8s. What’s the best option to fix this, would changing the pedals to like the v11 hexagonal pedals do anything? Is there an option to just add a piece of metal to make the pedal angle change. I think the most expensive option might be the Nylonove angled pedals but not even sure if they make an angled pedal for the v8. So what do you guys think or recommend?
I used v10 pedals on my v8 and it worked well
Looking to get my first EUC. Weight and water resistance are very important to me as I live on a sailboat. How does V8S compare to the KS16S ? They seem almost identical in specs and price. Thanks.
_"(the headlight), it's so weak, that, it's not that strong"_
Brilliant, kurwa 😂
Would high discharge cells be beneficial on a 3600wh battery like for the ex20s c30?
Is it, with all its modifications (V8 + V8F + V8S), the most popular EUC in the world?
Possible! I don’t have any numbers to back this claim though
The handle/trolley handle is so good on these, my biggest disappointment and turn-off from V11 and V12 is their new terrible handle
Interesting, i find V8F handle much worse than V11 (I have both wheels and i prefer trolleying around the V11). I just love that V11 trolley handle is in the middle, so the wheel is better balanced because of that, so trolleying is effortless, but V8F i have to keep its balance.
Also, V11 handle fits helmets so perfectly, it almost doesn't increase the size of the wheel and the helmet just sits there on the headlight and doesn't move, and you can remove it and fold the handle after starting to ride!
WHOA! What are those C-channels welded to the overpass stairs at several points in the video?!? Are they put there for the purpose of EUCs? Or do they another use? VERY interesting! (Such as at 5:08)
Great review Adam... I have an MCM5v2 (840Wh) which is a great little wheel too... how would you compare the V8S and The MCM5? Is one a winner by far?
Is there anything to watch out for with the Begode extreme bull x men?
7:14
I really like how i stood up from falling there :)
V8 is great for shopping one basket load as you push it you can lay the basket on the edge.
As this being my first one, it's great for learning on, & I needed the weight class for getting on local trains. That being said, I'm in a very hot region, & it did overheat before even summer came around. And being over the size this is really designed for, it created a paranoia for getting another. I am interested in fixing/replacing it for trains, but for like RVing & other stuffs, I'm going to need one way bigger & powerful for getting around for short rides.
Good timing! I'm having issues charging my v8. I've put 6k km on it. I find myself having to push extra hard the mains cable into the charger for the LED to turn red, and even then, increasingly, the LED will revert back to green quickly and the wheel will stop charging. Is it an issue with the charger or the wheel? I've tried several mains cables. Stock charger.
Been thinking about getting an EUC and this is one of the ones I have my eye on for sure.
Which should a 6’1 rider buy the V8S or the V10F
Thumb up for the Ukraine support sticker) Thanks bro.
I prefer a lot more the mcm5v2 on that wheel.. more battery, torque, no pedal dipping, lightweight etc... and lesser price too!
There's no pedal dipping on V8 (F in my case), not a single bit
V8 series is lighter and more ergonomic and overall more comfy
I didn't try MCM5 myself, but how is it on bumpy pavements?
The v8 is lighter and have no pedal dipping bro this wheel is my way to go for small trips and also waterproof is not comparable.. hope it jelp
@@Ubeogesh I can't do pendulums on my V8f as it will dip, like if I'm overpowering the motor, which doesn't happen on my mcm5. It has a more powerful motor on a smaller wheel. Behaves like a charm on pavements. It is 14 inches so of course it might not take potholes as best as the V8 and I didn't try it in rain, but I still think it beats the V8 series in every aspect. (But I still have both!)
@@legyroquoi for me, v8 is a practical wheel. Doing pendulums is just as useless as climbing 30° inclines.
Awesome review of the V8S, my friend recently bought one as their first wheel!
Btw, how are you liking the new helmet? How is the airflow compared to a motorcycle helmet? I'm feeling that my motorcycle helmet is too heavy/cramped these days, haha.
Oh wow, what helmet is that exactly?
@@dzsin0 it's either the TSG or the Predator helmet, I think he mentioned it in his previous video or the one prior to that
@@schro265 Thanks, will check them out!
@@dzsin0 I believe it is the predator. I considered both for faster e-scooter riding, ended up getting the dsg. No venting, but riding with the shield up is ok. I use a bicycle open helmet on hot days. I’m watching euc’s videos for neophytes.
Can you fly commercial with it as a carry on?
Hi, i want to buy an euc. Love your videos. Just bought a Niu kqi3 Sport. Happy with It so far.
So when I charge to 100% not all cells are fully charged (balanced)?
Exactly. It stops charging when the highest voltage cell set is at max charge.
@@mr_wrongway Not a winner for battery pack life for sure, a balancing BMS is not expensive, what were they thinking?
Why just Inmotion Version 8 has 3 series
? V8, V8F, and V8S
I rode a v8 once, I still think I'm happy with two wheels though, no way am I changing my mind xD
12:20 - I'm pretty sure for that price Meepo Hurricane , Exway Atlas 4WD would outperform V8s. I would love to see you compare electric skateboards to EUCs.
i'd be impressed to see electric skateboards climbing 25° from standstill
Fair point D4! I’ll think about this one
The Inmo answer to ks16s did not make us wait long, just for a 4 years :)
I am just shy of 210 kg (240 lbs). I’m thinkIng that the Kingsong or V10F might suit me better.
Good old Begode MCM5 V2 is much better option in my opinion

Jedno pytanie na temat jednego z twoich starszych filmików. W "KING-SONG 16X - Koło za 9 koła!!! - Pierwsze testy!" widzę że jeździłeś w środku centrum handlowego. What I can say is that I'm opposite of impressed because V8 battery had silicone inside battery department. Also BMS had a black motherboard and better soldiers
Keep it up!
Impressive intro Adam! How do you think this compares to v10?
V10 has more range speed and stability and you really feel grounded and more safe to push the wheel. V8 is more nimble and easier to make react and make slow speed tight turns.
Is just a question of battery because I prefer weak wheel for small rides. So between v10 and v8s I will take the v8s because of its light weight. Because in speed we have only 5kph of difference. You can unlock 5kph extra on darknessbot

It's such a shame that Inmotion don't fix the small issues with this wheel. The pedals, both front and tail lights, the speaker pointing backwards, absence of USB port... Ah, this could be the perfect commuter with such a small effort from the manufacturer.
There are helmets with lights and EarPods.
@@razorsharp9850 so what? The problem with speaker is that people in front don't hear me. EUCs are way too quiet.
Beside that, I use BlueTooth speaker that holds on my neck to get range/speed/battery updates. I can wear it with any helmet.
@@capitoneo you’re right. I misunderstood, speaker pointed backwards is not logical. What don’t you like about the pedals? The V8S pedals are better than the V8 normal ones right?
@@razorsharp9850 Yes, but those are still have same issues with slightly longer lifespan. AFAIK V13 have proper pedals out of the box.
@@razorsharp9850 Adam pointed out issues with current pedals on V8F/S in the video.
LED and music....such dumb thing sorry to say that...side leds aren't even visible if you put there some pads...it has only 1 practical function, put them on constant red and use it like that at night rides....thats it...music? Why? I personally hate when others arent respect my private space and starts some music next to me especially if I dont like the genre...Overall I think its a nice cruising wheel, I think after an Airwheel X8 I will buy a V8.

Дякую за підтримку ! Слава Україні !)
👍👍
let's begin with safety (while riding on a small narrow and high path 😂)
I thought the same 😂
V8s v mcm5
You're so spoiled Adam. You should review some mainstream hoverboards and let us know how you like the torque. 🤣
hoverboards are not really more than toys
Hahaha Maybe for April fools
@@mr_wrongway That would be so fitting for this channel as I'm sure most of us started with a hoverboard as our first self balancing device! 😆 Maybe you can answer the age old question why aren't hoverboards faster? And I haven't seen a true EUC to hoverboard mod yet. Someone with matching EUCs can do it.
That's an absolutely rubbish wheel. Mcm5 is cheaper and far better.
Are you sure ? 😂😂
My first real unicycle!(first one was a cheap plastic one as a kid ua-cam.com/users/postUgkx4e2fa6x27dF7shCelntq0ZIKt4N0jELI I never learned to ride)So, this is a true learner, and for a C note, exactly what was needed. After a few weeks, I'm able to easily ride up and down the street. The Good: Solid frame. Has absorbed numerous spills through learning and still solid. Look - great looks, after 6 weeks of bashing Weight - it's really all tire, but as I fall I can easily grab the seat so it doesn't slam the ground. Size - Very adjustable. I'm 6', 33" inseam. I put it mostly up, but could go a bit higher if I needed to. The Bad: Not sure if it's out of the norm, but seat got scraped up quickly. Pedals - they are a bit uncomfortable and I can't get the right feel on my feet. But, they are solid and haven't been damaged at all as I've seen in reviews on other cycle's.- To address one comment about the seat connection not straight. Huh? Seat is on a round pole, you just turn it and it's straight. Either of the bad I expected to replace once I improved. I'd recommend to anyone else in the learning phase.
