Many thanks for this video! I was trying to find a video of removal of st1100 wheel and found yours. Very informative ⭐️🤙
@@Kernomadz glad I can help
By not using plastic guards (can hand make by using plastic from a milk jug) on the pry tool, you have scratched the paint pulling the tire off the rim. Easy enough to avoid. It's also better to work the tire on a piece of carpet or protective surface, not the driveway, as the driveway will also scratch the rim a bit.
Thank you I will definitely remember when I need to change the tire in the future
How do you know so much about so many things? Seriously impressive! Regarding the old tire: given how difficult it is to remove, I'd be tempted to just cut it off. Any reason why you opted to preserve it?
I really appreciate it. I drive a lot for work and I don't listen to the radio or any music really. Just listen to podcasts and UA-cam videos about any thing and everything. Sometimes some of it sticks. As to the cutting the tires off, no reason at all just my own stubbornness. It would have definitely been easier to cut it off.
Place tires on a couple of chunks of 4x4 or something similar. That way you dont risk warping the brake disc.
Thanks I will keep that in mind next time
May want to pick up a simple tire changer from Harbor Freight and a bubble balancer. You will appreciate the mechanical advantage of the machine since you've now done it manually. Several vids here on YT for mods and better mounting options for that manual machine.
I wish :( the closest Harbor Freight is 2000 miles away
Tractor Supply Store or Menards in Anchorage?
Theres nothing like that in alaska, ill have to order online
seating a tire always stresses me out, even a bike tire I'm ready for it to blow! My camper has all split-ring rims and that was quite the job to do all 5 but all and all it wasn't really that bad
That sounds nerve wracking! Split-rims are scary! Glad it wasn't too bad though :)
@@Making_Adventure I think mine are a little more safe then the "widow maker" version. As long as the ring is seated proper it's pretty safe. So at least I have the safest of the unsafe rims haha. Of course it's a total obscure bolt pattern so I couldn't find any replacement 1 piece rims
@@bobbyswampfox Dang! That's quite a conundrum. Have you looked for an adapter? It's a long shot if it exists, and may make the wheels sit a little wider.
@@Making_Adventure yeah I have couldn't really figure anything out around it and now I'm into split rings cause I can do all the tires myself. We had a whole team of elf owners and couldn't figure out a work around haha
very good and informative video. we have it was crazy to see we have the same bike and dakota truck.
Thank you 🙏🏾 we sold the dakota but we loved the bike and will probably keep it forever
Shops want $60 a tire now to mount and balance. But that's not the kicker. The kicker is many won't install unless you buy it from them, and that's often an inflated cost.
Yep. The shops up here wanted a lot more, too. But many of them wouldn't even touch it because it was old. We spent $70 on tire spoons, so it was very worth it to do it ourselves.
so not
I'm confused as to what you are talking about.
@@Making_Adventure How can you change a tire so unprofessionally and damage the rim?
