I'll try to explain the best I can, so let's say poppy playtime is almost like the FNAF Universe. (Everything I'm gonna say is just a theory and still hasn't been confirmed by the creator) There's this guy (the owner) who used to experiment on Orphan Children, he used to kill them and with their bodies making "alive" toys, but obviously it didn't go as planned and the toys become monsters killing everyone. But it is said that Poppy came out as the success as she didn't became a monster. She's said to be a good toy and helps the player but in the end of Chapter 2 she betrays the player. (I still believe she's a good toy... I still haven't watched the gameplay of Chapter 3 so idk if she's actually a good toy or not) But yh I hope this helped 😅
