I found this tutorial 7 years ago and made about 60 caps in 2016 that helped me get out of a hard time $, thank God now I'm doing great and I'm back to make one for my mom and grandma and I'm literally in tears as I watch this video, thank you for taking your time to make this tutorial, it is definitely the best one here!

This is the best tutorial for a BRIM! I have struggled with other videos with the brim. They are flat on the head, limpy, looking like a visor over your eyeballs and you have to look through the holes! That is not a brim hat however, this hat tutorial is perfect.. Here are some highlights of what OVM lady has said. 1. When doing your brim use a G hook! 2. When Doing a bring double your yarn if it is small to medium yarn. (I used a bulky yarn and it was fine with 1 strand but it had to have the G hook for sure. 3. The first row on top of the foundation row is done in the back loop. This forces the hat to tip upwards right off and when adding more rows. The easement of her brim on the sides is superb. It eases around and curves! There are no dividing breaks from the hat and the brim. They are one! I have done 3 brims now using her method. I still have to watch her as it is not memorized yet. I just had to rave on this tutorial brim!!! Thank you for sharing your time and talent with an old woman! You are amazing!

Thanks, by any chance did you strength the elastic when you applied it to the brim? Did you create the hat without the elastic?

I created mine without elastic. I’m a senior citizen returning to crochet after twenty years and I really enjoyed this tutorial. I used a “G” hook and an “F “ for the brim. 👍🏼😄

Marcelle, now it all is making sense.Your tutorial demonstrates why I have been unable in the past to accomplish the result I needed in a brim hat. Without your detailed visual aid, I would continue to be in the dark. Now that I understand the construction required for the necessary brim effect, I can make a brim for any hat design. I am happily dancing around the house. Yeh! Thank you, oh onevirtuouswoman and beyond.

❤ Just wanted to let you know you do a really good job in crocheting . It Would be nice if people can come together and in the sense like . If you are crocheting and being connected together. Like crocheting in how you show. The life line of the yarn that makes the wonderful thing that people can share when they put their mind into doing . In showing in the things they can do.🧶.

Just love it. Fortunately I had a whole role of jewelry making elastics, so I can use that up for this project.

question for anyone: In row 9, did you go into the next stitch for the first single or did you crochet in the chain one as she did in the previous rows. In row 10, she started the first single into the chain one. Is row 9 just an error.

Thanks for the video:) I'm a beginner and I "accidentally" made one for my son, I tried to make a regular hat, and it ended up having a brim and turned out to be a super cute baseball hat. But then others loved it and wanted a baseball cap like his, and I couldn't for the life of me remember how I did the brim lol. So much thanks for this video! God bless you:)

I have made over 2,500 chemo hats and still am learning something new from you!! Always looking for something WONDERFUL for my precious folks-in-need. Your relationship with your daughter is a tender and beautiful thing... you both make my heart feel tender ♥ Your hat is beautiful - I am going to work on one tonight! Just in time for Easter!! It will look SO CUTE w/a little button or tiny crochet' flower placed on the hat, where it joins to the brim :) The girls love flowers! And the fellows seem to like the buttons!! God bless you both.......

Hi ... I was interested in finding out more about your group and how to join and what is required to join or be part of the group. I was already subscribed to your channel, and then I found off the hook and was glad to find you were the founder. So, if you could let me know that would be great. I am an artist but I crochet and knit - but mostly crochet. Thanks, look forward to hearing from you and love your videos :)

I am am new to crochet and always have trouble forming my hats. What is the purpose of creating single corchet rows at certain points of forming the hat. Is this preventing the hat from growing too big. At what intervals should you insert single corchet rows. Love your video as I am really learning and love it!

I just did your hat! It's crazy cute. My only problem was the ends of the brim (where you HDC, slip st turn and chain for the next row), is now the front of my brim buckles at the sides? I dunno what I did. :( But I love it...even if it didn't turn out straight in the front like urs!! LOL Thanks. oh, and i just subscribed

I don’t know which hook I’m gonna use because in Sweden we only have 2.00 or 2.50 or 3.00 or 3.50 or 4.00 mm and so on. So which of the hooks should I use. So grateful for your help. A G size hook is in Sweden 4.00mm

I had the same problem but there's one chain before you come to next row of the hat and I hat to sip it in order to slip stich into the next row so it would form the hat. I'm not sure if that makes sense or works out but hope it helps.
