I got the 24 volts, 600 watts model. I already had 1600 watts of solar panels. I've had it since March 7 th. I only have it 16 feet high because there's a lot of lightning ⚡ here. My battery bank is made from twenty big marine batteries from Autozone. There was an 87 mph wind storm in May, and it survived. I used grade 8 bolts instead of the ones they sent. It was making over a thousand watts for about twenty minutes until the wind let up. It's made similar to yours but the part with the bearing is thicker. I put some Armor All spray on the blades, (3) , and the crack where it's put together. I used a 1 1/2 ID pipe that's fastened to a piece of angle iron that's lag bolted to the barn. There's only five feet of it past the ridge of the barn. I made the base with a three foot piece of bigger pipe protruding from the concrete so that I can raise the pole another three feet if I wanted to. It would get cleaner air, but probably hit by lightning ⚡. I live on the side of a hill not too far from the top. So I have it chained to the base at the moment. It is almost 7 a.m., the battery bank is showing 25.1 volts, things will be charging again in a few minutes. Full charge is 25.6. The batteries are pretty much charged by ten a.m. usually. I have my wind generator hooked up to the battery bank with a 250 amp rectifier. It works pretty well that way. It can't make enough to overcharge them, enough to damage anything, I just turn something on like the hotplate if the voltage gets a little bit too high. I paid $433 for the wind generator. It's holding up okay so far. It was funny when I got it. I had already ordered it, and my uncle came to check out my power system. He said, well you've got a pretty good system, except you need a windmill. About two days later it shows up. I wish I could have taken a picture of his face. It was pretty funny.

That's a great write up! All done in a shoe string budget. Like things should be 😁 mine is 24feet high. But in the shadow of my big Oak tree. Over winter when the leaves are off the tree, it belts out the power. Often charging at 10-12 amps. I need to get an update video done

Instead of gluing magnets on, why not just go to a machine shop and have them machine you a new rotor? You can have them design the magnet holder gaps exactly the way you want. I believe this will work a lot better.

Yes- I really doubt that these controllers are true MPPT. My current home made turbine uses a bridge rectifier and a PWM solar controller. Its worked faultlessly for 10 years on a micro(60 watt) turbine. The low speed assist feature will be one thing that Im testing. My old DIY turbine has a mechanical system that allows 355 degrees of run up rotation before the drive connects and it starts turning the alternator.

*All practical tests of ground-based small wind turbines show: 1) They hardly produce any electricity. 2) They do not last long!*
No electricity, because there is hardly any wind close to the ground - and electricity yield is proportional to the third power ofwind speed: +100% wind generates +800% more electricity!
Moreover, the wind close to ground is extremely gusty. 9 out of 10 small wind turbines therefore stop working after a short time!
*With solar panels, you can generate at least 10 times more green electricity with the same investment! Reliable and almost maintenance-free.*

about 5-6 years ago i bought the china 700 watt hawt modle it came with the 36'' 3 fiber plastic blades that one would only get 3 amps at 24v not very good untill i made a 5 alluminum blades to fit a 5 blade hub i bought a 3 foot sheet mattel roller i made each blade from 1/8'' thick x 9'' wide x 32'' long i clamped all the blades toghter after i cut them to size . i ground them all toghter at the same time so they would come out exactly the same size than i rolled them the base or root had a 2.5'' or 3'' lift cant quite remember and the tips had a small angle from being narrow 2.5'' wide the next wind storm i got 20 plus amps out of that one because that allternator at the time had a strong cogging so the alluminum 5 blades did the trick it has been working good since dont know why i wanted to waist my time with a vawt but they did look good in the add and vidoes . so about 5 years ago they made the magnets a little to strong for the 3 plastic blades thats why it would stall out when it reached charging voltage the 5 homemade blades made a world of difference but i did also had to made the tail bigger aluminum again 1/8'' thick . even with the bigger blades the electronic break a 220 30 amp twist plug and outlet and a dummy plug wires all shorted toghter for stopping it it still able to stop the blades but any bigger it woudnt so its peaked out at 20+ amps at storms .
