    All that thing needs is 3.73 rear gears and it will be a beast!

    Very interesting, I have a 97 block with the PI headswap done. Compression is upped to 10.5 with full bolt ons about to get tuned. I have been looking for a reliable base to get a guess and this is promising. Thanks

    This video is showing 300 rwhp off a few basic bolt ons and a PI head swap. 99+ GT's came with PI heads. While we have other people saying basically the same bolt ons with a dyno tune saying 260ish rwhp. Doesn't make sense to me.

    • @The_Octane_Addicts
      @The_Octane_Addicts  6 років тому +7

      The engines that came with PI heads have a lower compression than the NPI engines that have the PI swap done. Mod for mod an NPI engine with a PI swap will be more powerful than the PI engine. Dyno numbers are hard to compare. For example, a Mustang dyno will generally give lower numbers than a Dynojet.

    2v motors can hit a little over 400 wheel NA just buy using the NPI block with the PI head, stage 3 cams, long tubes, and a good dyno tune

    I'd love to do a PI swap 96-98. I'd really love to get a Mark 8 short block and toss some PI heads on that.

      Thats a bit of a waste of money. 4.6 in mustangs at 300whp is still not that fast nvm in a car thats 700 pounds more its just not worth it

      @@lollol-xp4mc depends on who you ask, if you ask normal people building something that's better than what they had then its a great idea. But if you ask those idiots that build super high horsepower garage queens that they can barely get into the powerband before stopping at another red light and only have like 10% street drivability then yea they'll probably say don't do it.

    These are the numbers I’m trying to reach on my 96 I have a set of heads to put on mine just haven’t done so yet. What else was done to your car? Thought about finding a set of cams too but I know I’m limited due to piston to valve clearances.. I have a list of some that may work but haven’t looked much into them.

    So ur using the non npi motor to raise compression worth he pi heads. Smart

  • @musicrevelation2023
    @musicrevelation2023 3 роки тому

    That dyno seems off to me, the 10.5:1 conpression ratio only give 5 hp at most and that's from my friends build so its not really worth the increase. I've seen similar builds only doing 250-260 at best I've seen all bolt ons with a 262 h cams barely make it to 300+hp. So I doubt it makes 300 wheell because I have personally seen npi engines with pi swaps with full bolt ons without cams and with ported heads only making at best 265 at best if you mess with timing. Npi heads are just as good and start to flow better at .500 lift, the man thing people do is use the pi cams and intakes on the npi heads. But looking at the specs between the two is the slight difference below .475 lift and it's only by a little no much to worry about. I personally don't think it's work swapping the heads since a ported and polished npi head has been shown to flow better than a ported n polished Pi head, but the intake and cams are better but the cams aren't something I would get if you want a replacement I would just go get a better more hoped up set tbh if your looking for power

    • @steveparlier7059
      @steveparlier7059 Рік тому

      It was probably po heads and intake only and maybe headers too but 300 at crank maybe and 260-270 wheel I can see maybe but idk? Rwhp is 215-225 oem and the pi swap should add 50+ hp so idk man ? But at what rpm is a factor as well that 300 maybe be only in 1st or 2nd gear then fall
      Off at higher rpm’s which these engines do unfortunately sad😢 it’s why I may put in a boss 302 crank set up in a coyote eventually? It’s tons of money however u build em but the 4.6 are cheaper builds and decent fuel milage and an underdog engine so I may see what can be done with mine ? And u know the 1st konesig CCR was equipped with a 4.6 ford v8? Lots of people have no idea it had that JS it can be awesome if set up right and in a lightweight car mid engine or forced air works too lol

    What's year pi heads and and what cams do you have? I'm about to do a pi swap for my 98gt and I have 99gt pi heads, the pi cams that cam with the heads, and a new pi intake. i also have CAI, 78mm TB, MSD coil packs, stage 1 clutch, short throw shifter, long tubes, off road h pipe and slp loudmouth. I'm having it all done this month and having it dyno tuned so I'm hoping I end up around 290whp and over 300rwt

    • @The_Octane_Addicts

      The cams are just the regular PI cams that came with the heads. The heads were low mile Romeo from someone on Craigslist who bought them from Summit so idk the year. I'd be surprised if you didn't hit your mark.

      John Van Nortrick So what issues do you have? I'm not very familiar with the 274s, but I think it is necessary to degree them or else there will be ptv clearance issues.

  • @clutchmaster2012

    I'm planning on doing this swap to my 98 gt later on this year. Actually picking up the parts for it today. I have heard about ticking after the swap. Is there piston to valve clearance issues and should I upgrade to better valve springs? Did you run into these issues?

    • @The_Octane_Addicts
      @The_Octane_Addicts  6 років тому +1

      clutchmaster2012 Unless the timing is really far off there won't be a ptv clearance problem with stock cams. As for springs, unless you plan to change to aftermarket cams the originals will be fine.

    • @The_Octane_Addicts

      Yes, PI heads flow better and will up the compression on a NPI (non-performance improved) engine. Not the easiest, but one of the best bang for your buck mods for an NPI motor.

      I'd be very happy with 300 whp, I don't think anyone these day's buy's this car because they want to rip everyone a new A hole on the street. Last time I had that mentality I was driving a 98 v6 f-body with nitrous. Now I'm 37 and can have a car that isn't my daily, just for fun. Bought a 99 GT a week ago because it's sexy and sounds great, I will do some stuff to it because who doesn't like a little more hp.
