Yesterday i had a ranked match where both DDs detonated each other right at the start.
Flamu really hit the turd lottery. BBs are second to only CVs in having the lowest chance of detonating.
CVs cant even detonate, what do you mean?

Yeah and than people say why you dont use flags? Cos if I do all the time I will never earn credits :-) That stupid detonation mechanism is there just to suck all your credits for flags...

The other night I was blind firing a Yamagiri with my DD. On lone 127 shell coming straight down from it's arc impacted and a full hp super DD just detonated. I was honestly conflicted on the one hand Ijust got a kill on an enemy DD on the other hand it felt so unsatisfying and underwhelming to get it, more like the game was taking pity on me.
A ship on full health can't detonate.
@@oldRighty1 Yes, but if a single shell drops the ship hp below 75% than the same shell can cause detonation after the damage was dealt.

@@oldRighty1 Don't know than, I have seen weird shell bouncing in WOT that bounced 5 times dealing impossible damage, don't know if this is possible in WOW or not. Or John just trolling, who knows?
Capital ships can detonate, but its very rare. I don't blame Flamu at all. But if you're suffering from bad teams and a string of losses, a Detonation just might make you rage quit..

I use detonation to complete missions that require a certain number of achievements.
Works surprisingly well.

I don't see the point in this game mechanic, it just makes the game more frustrating. It's so annoying. Also detonation flags are quite hard to get, they should give more flags
Det flags are 100K each. Its the classic WG "create a problem and sell the solution" business model.
i remember getting det flags whenever you detonated. i died often enough to dets to have multiple flags for every ship in my port
I always think the detonation mechanic and detonation flag both exist are the stupidest thing in this game, I understand the detonation exists for historic reason and all, but let player immune detonation by click a button is just stupid.
I'm willing to put real money on this - CVs have at least a 1000X multiplier for breaking engines/steering and detonations.
@竜崎 It might have been true once, nowadays with DDs like halland and benham (and that new T9 DD still in testing that shits out torps), not sure how true that is.
Also, you can't "aim" for a detonations, yet CVs cause like 100X more detonations than any other class.

one of the many reasons I haven't touched this trash of a game since the past 3 years... Playing boats really misses me but WoWS doesn't have any good competition to speak of (no, WT naval is NOT a good competitor)
But between missing boat and losing my sanity on this trash again, I prefer giving the middle finger to whoregaming.
My last 5 detonations which have been over a year or 2 have been cv torps on bbs.

Historically speaking, how the hell would torp hit to the extreme bow cause a detonation?! I get it's a game mechanic, but shouldn't they at least require it to be a citadel hit?
The left-most torp hit close to the A turret, and the idea is that its magazine detonated.

Yep that´s how the Game works.
You need to run Detonation Flags
If you don´t run Detonation Flags you need atleast Magazin Modification 1 in the first Slot
If you run neither you have a high chance of getting detonated
I wouldn't say a "high" chance - I think I've detonated twice in BBs in 6+ years, and I don't run the det flag or mod. Cruisers a bit more, and obviously DDs have the greatest risk.

the real issue is you have to keep buying those expensive af deto flags to not get screwed over by this obscure rng mechanic. before you could just get 10 deto flags per day if you detonated and if you didn't equip them and ended up getting lul'ed it'd be your fault.
but now with the new economy you have to keep buying these stupid flags otherwise with desync + wtfrng + cv torps you are way more likely to get detorekt, and the avg joe simply doesn't bother wasting 2mil every hour just so they don't get screwed and ruin the game for their team
