I created Lyra on Dec 17. 2019. She was the protagonist to Dominic.. but I grew more fond of Dominic, thus making him his own character instead of Lyra.. and leaving my "main oc" in the dust.
Finally, here is her backstory.
TLDR: Lyra is the scientist of Licorice and RBG*, who was created with an illegal substance in a secret lab. Lyra's lab was found, and she was arrested. She escaped from the police and ran into the forest. Dominic saw everything. Deeming her a criminal, he seizes the opportunity to make her his own servant.
*RBG is not shown in this animation.
⭐----------------LORE----------------⭐
🌙-GENERAL LORE-
- Lyra is the daughter of a biologist who passed down his studies about an unknown substance that, when correctly tampered with, is able to create sentient life.
- She continued her father's studies in his lab which he built in secret.
- Her first successful creation was a disaster (RGB). The liquid was unstable, and the life that she had created lashed out at her. Lyra kicked out RGB, thinking that it would die without her, but it survived.
- RGB, who was only half sentient, ran to the nearby city and committed genocide. The police were unable to catch them.
- Meanwhile, Lyra, who had heard the news, isolated herself in her lab for a couple years to perfect the substance.
🌙-IN THE ANIMATION-
- Lyra perfects the substance, and Licorice is born. She is quick to protect the smol child, but Licorice's curiosity gets the best of them when Lyra accidentally leaves the door unlocked.
- Licorice, who also ran to the nearby city, had good intentions in his heart. However, he was spotted. The public was not quick to forget RGB's actions, so the police were called.
- Police follow the frightened Licorice to Lyra's lab, and Lyra gets arrested. Licorice escapes.
- Lyra was able to escape the police, running into the forest where a sneaky Dominic had seen everything. He took advantage of the newly born criminal and possesses her into his army.

I like the idea of her having not exactly bad intentions, but not exactly good ones either. Like she wants to protect Licorice but in the end the entire thing turns into her having worse intentions as she’s arrested and Domonic takes her in and she continues following that path. It is such interesting growth of a character and how she ended up in Dominic’s life and I love it

This turned out so cool!!! The shock I got from finding out Lyra was the scientist who created them was unreal considering what we've seen was only her being the victim of Dominic's possession! Love how you created the backstory to intertwine with the two!!!

I love how you mashed the two cannons together. I'm thinking Licorice and Lyra were from two different stories originally, as we didn't get the name of his 'father' at the time. I could be mistaken, but that's always cool when you realize that something clicks in your story.
Also...hmm...I wonder if Licorice will ever find out what Dominic has done to her and what he will do when he does find out.

Yes i tweaked previous backstories a little bit. Yes "Father" was what Licorice called their creator-- in the past. It's Mother now.

just remember that this whole thing could have been avoided if licorice had just thought for like 4 seconds and hid somewhere instead of panicking and running back to the lab

Never would expect Dominic and Lyra to be connected to the scientist story line. Is that a new development or did you always intend for that to be revealed?
Not originally, but since aug 2022 I had it in mind to merge the two story lines

THEN HIS POSSESIVE HANDS GOSHH I LOVE THISS, especially that in the first walk cycle it seemed a bit forced (she needs to be walking at the same speed as the police, who are definitely dragging her toughly to make sure she doesn´t escape) then the second one is like she´s on the hunt (which she is HELFGP) and it´s not forced because she´s not herself anymore
lore-wise this is so SOOO fantastic, I can´t believe their stories cross paths, now I´m soo wondering if RGB and Licorice will find her eventually omg
the story is told really well and it´s very clear what happened even when you only have watched this and no other video

the first walk cycle felt real threatening, like she looks so pissed and restricted with her movements while the police just look up as they just caught a criminal, then the second one she kinda looks emotionless and her movements are less restricted BUT still feel controlled on a mental scale
THE PERSPECTIVES ARE FANTASTIC AS WELL GOSHH like for example that frame with Lyra looking up at the newly born Licorice?? fantastic, EVEN HER RUNNING AWAY FROM THE POLICE FELT SO COOL AND REALL even when the chase wasn´t shown it still felt as if we saw it all omg
I love how all their expressions and emotions are drawn and animated, even the cops with the nonshowing eyes are really fitting and adds to their scariness IF THAT MAKES SENSE??
