That 30 min homage to The Warriors in the 3rd act was absolutely fucking beautiful. The eagle eye scene that was one long take was amazing too. Caine is my favorite character, along with the dog. I loved how enemies had to fight alongside each other at times. What a crazy movie
Well, Caine wasn’t exactly an enemy to Wick. He was forced to go against him, but his heart was never in it. The first chance he got to get out of that situation, he took it.
Couldn’t agree more. Before she could even get the word “boppers” out, once I saw the mic and the lipstick, I knew it. And I felt like one of the only ones in my theatre that got it. Shit was so dope though. My personal ranking is 1,2,4,3. Love this damn franchise!
I took John Wick having less and less lines throughout the films as character development. This is a world that he never wanted back in. He doesn’t have very many friends left in the world. His only way out is death. I think one would naturally become closed off and quiet under the circumstances. He essentially turned into the myths about him which I thought was cool. I do agree though when given the right scene Reeves can hold his own just fine.
Beyond excited to see this film. My brothers and I are seeing next weekend. My youngest bro has never seen John wick so he's watching the first 3 leading up to John wick 4. He's loving them,, what guy wouldn't. But I knew this was going to be an excellent film. I love all of them and my anticipation is through the roof right now. R.I.P. Lance Riddick. Phenomenal actor and probably was a really nice person.
The way the dragons breath fight scene is shot is unreal So many cool cinematography shots I loved this movie and will have to go back and see it again soon
This movie is perfect for all the action sequences. I think the standout was the Osaka Continental sequence. I loved this movie and it definitely is my favorite movie of the year so far.
It’s not they missed shooting John, John’s suit is an armor. Before the duel, John removed his jacket and you hear all the empty shells fall to the ground.
I couldn’t agree more, the cinematography in this movie is incredible, everyone’s acting was impecable, Bill Skarsgard as a villain is chefs kiss. I can’t sing this move enough praises. I can definitely see spin off movies from these new characters for sure.
Impeccable from a technical standpoint but some parts did feel redundant and no one in this movie can aim to gun to save their life. I also didn't buy the main villain as that much of a threat. This is easily the best sequel but the first one is still my favorite
Went to see the movie last night and oh boy. The blind guy really surprised me, and hope we get a spin-off movie about him. Best movie this year no doubt.
JOHN WICK CHAPTER 4 WAS FREAKING AWESOME!!!!!! THIS FRANCHISE KEEPS SURPRISING ME IN THE BEST OF WAYS!!!! This one is no exception like HOLY FREAKING CRAP!?!?!? THAT FREAKING FIRE SHOTGUN OVERHEAD SCENE WAS AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!
This movie was a 10 out of 10 for me RIP lance. John wick is not human dude is a tough as nails. Most of us would be dead dealing with what he dealt with it's a movie I know.
I think Keanu Reeves can be a good actor when given the right dialogue, there's many times in the matrix films when he gives a good performance and awesome review Cody.
It was a good movie & i legit enjoyed it. That being said, it was kinda exhausting to watch after a while. Sum of the action scenes went on too long & felt redundant.
I was sad to hear that Lance has passed away. He played one of those impossible not to like characters in the Wick films. Yes, the film is an action masterpiece. Coordinating all that action must have been a hell of a task. Which is why they could have toned it down without hurting anything and saved themselves a lot of hardship. And shorten it without interfering with the story. The locations are unbelievable. It's one of the most beautiful movies I’ve seen in a very long time. Rich, intense visuals everywhere. It's magnificent. And a cast to make Hollywood proud.
The Osaka continental, the stairs, dragons breath, arc de triumph, scene with Scott Adkin’s character. Just absolutely flawless action. Also the nod to the warriors was unbelievable.
I agree with you Cody Leach on this. This is one of the greatest action movies ever made. Once in while you have an action movie that just breaks all molds. This is the one. Its up there with Terminator 2, Matrix, Die Hard. Not only is the action unbelievably well written and choreographed, the acting is absolute on the money. A tremendous performance for everybody. And they are not big names except Keanu. I watched this movie half and I regret not watching in in theatres. This should be re released every year for 2 weeks for people to watch. A TV screen cannot do justice to this movie. And tells you something because it has no heavy duty CGI or VFX. Just plain action.
Scott Adkins in a bodysuit and a purple suit was also a tribute to Sammo Hung in the movie SPL / Kill Zone (a high for us martial arts fans). It's over the top action and i love it so while i love every single one i go 1, 4, 3, 2 on my ranking.
Many people wouldn't even know about that movie. I love that movie. Donnie Yen vs Sammo Hung. But we get John Wick with Scott Adkins. (Damn near Sammo Hung)
Sometimes I don’t agree with people regarding Keanu’s performances either, but this time I think the criticism is warranted. His delivery of the simplest of lines in this movie was terrible.
I actually argue chapter 2 is the worst in the franchise (it’s still great) bc narratively it’s just I do this marker then I kill u the plot & the rest is just killing ppl the movie whereas part 3 was more about the upcoming war w the high table & John trying to outwit his contract
Man, this really was an action masterpiece. The consistent, high octane stunt choreography, set pieces and cinematography was taken to another level I didn’t believe could be. This is Keanu’s staple character for me. The new addition of characters & villains were amazing such as Cane, Mr. Nobody, Marquis, Killa, etc. I was not bored for one second of this film. 10/10 for me & will definitely be top 3 of the year for me.
That warriors reference is really for the real ones. Loved that entire sequence and how it reminded me that there are many out there who care for forgotten gems like the warriors.
When I intended to write this I was going to say dragon breath continuous shot was my favorite. But then I would think about the continental sequence, then the stair fight. Every single fight sequence is insane and soo fun to watch. Imax, just do it.
I have too see it again because this was the worst Wick film for me. It was too long, Wick had about as much motivation as he had lines, the recycled the dog thing, the stupid side quest with Belarus guild, Wick gets Samurai man shot after doing what he already knew was wrong from previous film, Mcshane's dentures, videogame dancing backdrops while men are killing each other, Dick Tracy make up for Atkins wtf? Donnie Yen was great and I like Warriors callback.
Keanu should be in greatest action star of all time convos. He has been killing it in the action genre for 30 yrs now. Point break, speed, the matrix and now all 4 JW movies is a damn impressive resume for action. Just on the amount of $ his action movies have made put him in that Convo. Add to the fact that the matrix and the wick movies have set the bar for action movies to follow, makes the argument a no brainier. Dude has been doing most of his own stunts for 30yrs and hats off to him.
When talking about nostalgia and how we often get baited by “oh hey remember that one thing from awhile ago”… whilst simultaneously pointing to The Thing poster… I don’t know if that was intentional… but … 👩🍳 💋 PS - Seeing John Wick in 3 hours!!! Glad you had such positive things to say. Chapter 3 fell off for me a little as well.
In the year where Ant-Man, Shazam, and even Ghostface had problems with their movies, John Wick swoops on and saves the day with this kickass movie! Also, RIP Lance NOTE: I do like the other movies I listed, but they do have MAJOR flaws.
My problems for Scream are basically the same as John Wick though. Which is the ridiculous plot armor. But that is pretty much the only nitpick I have with John Wick 4.
@@heatheraggus7501 Yea that’s true. Like Cody said, the amount of people missing was pretty distracting for me, but I can live with it. It is still an amazing movie

Loved this movie so much and really loved that it brought so much emotion too it like the first movie which is what I wanted especially the talking parts than the action definitely second favorite in the franchise along with the first movie being my favorite
So Who is this john Wick Character you speak of? Who is Keanu Reeves? I don't know but My guess he's the Most Awesome Actor in THE WORLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I love the tribute to Lance Reddick at the beginning, your genuine respect is a huge thing that makes you stand out from so many other reviewers, imo. I’m very glad to hear this is a step up from 3, makes me that much more stoked to see it. Hearing how you’re gushing over it has me extremely enthusiastic because I feel like it’s gotta be pretty great to have elicited that reaction from you, based on the 5 or so years I’ve been subbed to your channel 😂
This John Wick is right up there with Mad Max Fury road in regards to high octane adrenaline action and pacing with this story as well. It is perfect in every way to me.
Where were all the Gendarmes? Arresting yellow vests? 😅 Our boy John sure wasted a lot of ammo. I doubt a human brain requires four bullets to stop it functioning properly. Although ... since John can get hit by a few cars, intentionally, and still run upright, you never know. There are quite a few almost impossible-to-kill characters in this franchise. Who would win? John Wick or Batman? A draw? Keanu is not the only Canadian who plays a character that can't die. Canadian Kiefer Sutherland's Jack Bauer was another one. Canada could sure use these guys right now! :-)
Amazing job cody. This is the greatest action film I've ever seen, and it's my favorite action franchise of all time. Keanu Reeves is a Legend, Bill Skarsgard was incredible as the main antagonist. I loved Donnie Yen as well. RIP Lance Reddick. 🙏❤
Is this the best live-action FPS ever? My favourite bits are when he throws guns at the guys. He never misses. And I'm sure a gun smack in the face must hurt. I wonder how many extras we didn't see because they said, "The hell with this, I'm going home!" I thought they were both going to shoot the Marquis, since he was supposed to be John's real target. Those were amazing handguns.
Yes, cody, that nostalgia part of the movie. I loved it too as soon as I saw her lips and then the music and loved it if you have seen it you'll understand
While I agree mostly with what Cody was saying in his first negative, something I live about the John Wick franchise is: A) They changed Keanu's most famous quote from "Whoa" to "Yeah" B) The spectrum of meaning Keanu puts behind "Yeah". Not since Clint Eastwood in Unforgiven has someone made "Yeah" sound intense & badass
For me I didn't care for John Wick Chapter 4. Yes it was action pack. Yes it was spectacularly awesome and it was shot beautifully. But I just don't care for this hightable hitman story even in the first film. It was unnecessary and too confusing for me. And getting back to the action. These action sequences are just too unbelievable and unrealistic. It feels fake to me. There is a reason why there is a slang called sometimes less is better. This a type of action movies I call throw up action movies. It's just throw up. By the end I had a headache from all the action. Hollywood needs to scale back the action and go back what they did back in the day like the first 2 Terminator movies and few of the Rambo movies. The best modern day action movies are "Alita: Battle Angel", "Unhinged" from 2020, "Hot Seat", and "Wire Room" both from 2022. Or what they did with Prey. Hollywood need to take notes from those movies that I mentioned. And it's too unbelievable and too unrealistic how many times John Wick keep getting back up. He is a human bean not a robot producers. I am glad that people are loving this film and I respect the people who do love this film. But I don't see the masterpiece it is. For me it's not even close to the greatest action film of all time. For me I have to give this film a skip it. And this is by far for me the worst in the franchise.
Man Keanu Reeves is an inspiration. I think he is going to inspire a lot of future actors who want to be action movie stars. The stuff he does is incredible especially given his age. People will want to follow in his footsteps. He's making history and history will never forget him or his action movies. BTW HE'S 58 YEARS OLD!!!!!
John Wick: Chapter 4 gives more medium line deliveries from Keanu Reeves and moments where he realistically would’ve been dead, but the action is still very well choreographed/fun and makes this franchise 4 for 4.
Loved the movie. Stahelski pays subtlety pays tribute to so many movie genres. I think Keanu has fewer lines because of Stahelski's tribute and love of the spaghetti western. Loved the whole John Wick franchise. Three was my least favorite as well, although the martial arts in it were some of the best. The story was somewhat lacking and it pushed the limits of believability. Four did that as well but was just so spectacular and a better over all movie.
Am I the only one that felt him being hit by multiple cars and falling from a height of 3-4 stories at least twice is immersion breaking that he’s like a parody of what he was in the 1st film
Really excited to see Bill Skarsgård take on Count Orlok in next years Nosferatu. Robert Eggers is helming as director, i think it could be a contender for one of next year's best films
I think Keanu is an amazing actor with a lot of range. John Wick as a character doesn't require a lot of dialogue imo but seeing him in other roles like Johnny Silverhand or Neo he absolutely kills it. Conpared to say the rock, Keanu is amazing! Will definirely be checking out a lot more of his movies
My action opinions usually line up with Cody pretty well, but I'm way on the opposite side of this one. I thought basically all the Non Wick characters were worse in this one than in the previous movies and that the pacing and action were both worse, as well. I still liked it, but it definitely felt like a step back for me.
I give it a 10/10 which is a rare score I give films It has some flaws but overall those don’t detract the brilliance of the film. Loved every character(except Skarsgard), action scenes again are fantastic and the overall plot was great. If this is the last one then I’m satisfied, it looks to be that way unless some “out of nowhere thing” happens.
The shooters were not missing John Wick, his bulletproof clothing was stopping the bullets, even on that windshield he held up his jacket to block the bullets from his face
Man that Dragon breath ammo sequence isn’t only one of the best action sequences I’ve ever seen, but it’s one of the best theater experiences of my life.

RIP Lance Riddick😥. The Baba Yaga is back babyyyy! Great movie! Hey guys, stay until the very end cuz there's a post credit scene! 😉😊
I can't agree that this is an "action masterpiece." There is just TOO much wrong with it for me to jump on that bandwagon. 😞
Great review, dude. I'm seeing this tomorrow. Totally stoked.
What an incredible movie!
10/10
16:28.....he got shot and he got shot alot before and after the scene you're talking about......BUT
Bulletproof Jacket
Watch it again
Closely
RIP LANCE
Is this the best live-action FPS ever? My favourite bits are when he throws guns at the guys. He never misses. And I'm sure a gun smack in the face must hurt. I wonder how many extras we didn't see because they said, "The hell with this, I'm going home!"
I thought they were both going to shoot the Marquis, since he was supposed to be John's real target. Those were amazing handguns.
Yes, cody, that nostalgia part of the movie. I loved it too as soon as I saw her lips and then the music and loved it if you have seen it you'll understand
While I agree mostly with what Cody was saying in his first negative, something I live about the John Wick franchise is:
A) They changed Keanu's most famous quote from "Whoa" to "Yeah"
B) The spectrum of meaning Keanu puts behind "Yeah".
Just came back from watching this. It was crazy, exhilarating and incredible! I loved every second of it 🎉❤
Saw this movie last night and holy fucking shit!!!!
This is how you do a fucking action movie 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
haven't seen the movie yet, but so far nobody (stuckman, leach, jahns...) mentions scott adkins. was his performance that bland???
John Wick: Chapter 4 gives more medium line deliveries from Keanu Reeves and moments where he realistically would’ve been dead, but the action is still very well choreographed/fun and makes this franchise 4 for 4.
This may be the movie that pushes the envelope to the academy for Actionstunt coordination effects.
Every thing I was thinking walking out of the theater, you’ve put into words in this review. Loved the movie, glad you liked it to, great review man
Glad they are taking a break from this to allow it to be missed awhile :)
*THE SCENERY, COLORS AND CAMERA ANGLES WERE WORLD CLASS 👌🏾*
I'm going to see John wick chapter 4 this weekend Cody
Domny Yen is the undisputed baddest a$$ ever. Funny, because I did not like Him the first time I saw him in a film. 😂😂😂
Really excited to see Bill Skarsgård take on Count Orlok in next years Nosferatu. Robert Eggers is helming as director, i think it could be a contender for one of next year's best films
Of course Keanu reeves wouldn't disappoint us with a John wick sequel flop . He nails his roles 97 percent of the time!!!
*quickly googles The Raid 2 and The Night Comes For Us to see if they came out in the last 10 years* idk Cody you just set an extremely high bar.
3rd is my favorite, this one is pretty good. If I were to rank them it’d be 3rd, 1st, 4th, and then 2nd. (I do need to rewatch them though)
My action opinions usually line up with Cody pretty well, but I'm way on the opposite side of this one. I thought basically all the Non Wick characters were worse in this one than in the previous movies and that the pacing and action were both worse, as well. I still liked it, but it definitely felt like a step back for me.
Super excited for the resident evil 4 review sometime in the next couple weeks❗️❗️
Rip to Lance. Thanks for acknowledging his passing, I'm gonna watch "The Guest" in honor of him.
Wouldn't a John Wick/Expendables crossover be awesome!?
That was a really classy intro 👏
I give it a 10/10 which is a rare score I give films
It has some flaws but overall those don’t detract the brilliance of the film.
