Dan Daly swore he didn't remember saying his famous quote that way. Every single one of his men swore he did.

23:50 to even receive a Medal of Honor needs Congressional approval, the Military can say yes all it wants, but if Congress says “No” you’re not getting it.

Mark Twain actual quote: "If you do not read the newspaper, you are uninformed. If you do read the newspaper, you are misinformed". (Kinda sounds like the twitterverse)

To be fair, marshal arts are not really intended to be used in real fight.
It is form of personal discipline or type of sport.

Modern Martial Arts, yes. Back then, no.
If a guys, screaming a war cry runs at you carrying a Dao, you best assume he is not trying to show you some cool tricks with his sword.

@@jtilton5no even then. The modern overly insulated martial arts schools were already in place by then, separated from their old true martial roots on the battlefield by centuries.

Don't mess with a United States Marine. You won't live to regret it

A machine gun is not what we think of today, those are sub-machine guns. An actual machine gun takes much larger rounds and anything that takes normal rifle rounds is a sub-machine gun.

In the US military, the President of USA is the commander of chief. He makes final decision 9n medal of honor. That's where the politics comes in.

I don't think the CMO is given by the military. It's given by Congress. The military submits applicants to Congress for review. He did receive the two highest military awards though.

The only thing he got wrong was Dan Daly's age. He was actually 25 when he signed up for the Marines, not 16.

The big problem with a lot of the current Chinese martial arts is that they have become so divorced from their roots that they are either useless, or are so hyperspecialized that you're almost never going to stumble into a situation where it's useful.
Classic Kung Fu, when you really break is down, is over 90% grappling: If you see a technique and think, "There's no way that would actually be effective," consider that it might be intended to be a throw, shove, trip, or some other maneuver to get your foe on the ground, rather than a strike.
Wing Chun is a super streamlined style that works because it makes two assumptions: 1) You will never be grappling for any reason, ever, and in fact will actively avoid grappling of any sort, and 2) The serious techniques that you would employ in a real fight are all intended to be performed while holding a knife. If you practice Wing Chun and are in a fight against 10 guys, if you're doing anything other than running away, you're doing it wrong.

    Great video.
OUAT, every state could produce somebody like that.
Nowadays, well ... thank goodness for Texas, Montana, etc., because those like California -- unlikely.
