For fans of old British sports cars, these films are a real treat.
Very proper choice of music, and very 1960:s!
Nostalgia!
That GT6 is still alive somewhere, fascinating!!!!!
3.15. Nice AC 427, Reg LPH800D, the very car which would soon be whisking Linda Thorson's Tara King character around in The Avengers. The car was later considered too much of a muscle car for a woman and she was given a red Lotus Elan 2+2 followed by a Lotus Europa. This was presumably more in line with Diana Rigg's Emma Peels mode of transport of first a white and then a grey Lotus Elan roadster.
Sixtiesdude1 Remember seeing one on display in Rackham's department store Birmingham.
I used to live a couple of streets away form Earls Court. It was great popping over the road to see one exhibition or another.
I hear they are knocking it down to increase population density and pollution.
Have you seen "The Wall" there in Earls Court, August 1980?
@@dorkadezso5826 No I have not been back in many years. I moved away in 1975
Yep, 1966. My dad's Vauxhall Cresta
JTO 787 D.
Life was ,simpilar then ,and great music to
J'adore le salon de l'automobile. Ypostel.
That AC. Enough said !
All those cars look lovely to my 21st century-eyes ... Driving a GT6 between all those SUV's today, would be quite an adventure though. Other thing I noticed is how similar the cortina and the hunter looked, was that purely coincidental? But if I were around in 1966 and had to buy a reasonably priced British car, i'd probably choose that viva with its handsome "coke bottle"-style.
D registered cars - will be 1966
Must have been after 31st. August 1965 (when the "D" license plate was released)
Luckily enough the Morris marinas all came with a complimentary bus timetable,
And a five year waiting list.
Would hit the dashboard every time you put your Ford Cortina in first?
I Would Have Loved To Have Gone to a Motor Show, But I Lived too far Away.
not a seat belt in sight !
D ran from jan 1st to dec 31st 66
E ran from jan 1st till end of July 67
F started aug 1st 67
i think it was the c reg that ran for half a year in 65
@@raycroal No, it was E
J'aime les Ford zodiac, vauxhall viva.hillman Hunter et triumph gt6. Ypostel.
Seat belts and driving gloves optional
Is it my imagination or did the door to the Aston Martin Volante ‘jump’ when the model opened it? ‘60s engineering eh?
Yes, it jumped. Handmade... poorly.
It did, but is just the demo model
This must be just before the Chrysler Corporation competed their takeover of Rootes.
mark 2 cortina came out in 1966
What’s the song playing behind the clips??
Georgie Fame
Getaway
....and no lights on!
Well that 'colour' was in black and white...
1966
What year?
No Minis, no ADO16s.. what!
Mini's were old hat by then. They'd been out since 1959. This is about new stuff.
Wish I had £6000 now. I'd go and buy an Aston Volante.
British everyday car industry. Gone ... All gone !?. How did they actually manage to kill all these brands !?.
Easy!! EU killed off everything British. . . . . That's the way Brussels operate . . . Kill the competition! !!!
U.N. Lima Declaration 1975 was the final nail in the coffin for manufacturing in australia and england
Rust killed them all..........
Not good enough that At 2:40 Health and Safety were a sleep on the job!
And the year is?.... Come on Movietone you can do better than that.
The cars are brand new on 'D' plates so the year is 1966.
thanks for that.
+Alan M You are very welcome :)
LoL, if only women still looked like in this video!
