The song is about intoxication: the means, not quite, important. It could be drugs, it could be love, and above all, it could be music. If taken literally, not going into unnecessary complexities, Dylan, tired and disappointed, longs to lose himself and reach a state of divine happiness, by the simple music of a tambourine man.
This is probably the most singularly beautiful piece of music in modern history. I always begin to get misty-eyed during the bit about dancing on the beach.
For me, I full agree. This song launched my soul, heart and feet on the road to a new freedom back in 1967. It is a deep part of the core of who I am. Andcues the last verse takes me to a universal timeless place. Pure magic. And Dylan agrees about his music from that time being from the deep well of pure creativity, not from his person.🕺🌌
I once listened to this song while crossing the Thames from Chelsea to Battersea at 5:30 am on the coldest day of January. I hadn't slept all night, I was carrying a very heavy backpack but I was going to see the woman that would become my wife.
After the guns fall silently over the hills and war is nothing more then a memorie. I like to think this this song that plays when everyone's home and no one's gone. It's a Song of generations past for the peaceful generation.
Wow I can't explain how I'm feeling. I'm going through depression right now and this song is somehow saving me. I don't know how to explain this feeling but it's a lovely song!!!
How does this song remind you of your Dad? It is touching that a sense of peace descends when you listen to this beautiful song. Please feel free to reply in French because I read French fluently. I have chosen to send this reply in English for, in my written French which is quite wanting/lacking, I did not wish to do injustice to your own impeccable (and polished) French.
I sometimes think... Is there a special Valhall, Elysian fields, Heaven/Hell, Aetheist place, just for poets? Can't you just see Homeros, Lord Byron, Egil Skallagrimson sitting there, glaring at each other, and debating whether they will let in Robert Zimmermann and/or Sir Michael Jagger? Every now and then Egil would get up and hack everyone else to pieces, but, hey, Valhall... So, I have a vivid imagination. I wonder, can you be there as audience? Poets need audiences...
FYI there was a Mr. Tambourine Man and he plays guitar on some of Bob's songs including I think Don't think twice it's alright. He died within the past few years. I forget his name. I think he had a big tambourine too. great song.
Sublime, maravilloso, no me canso de escucharte, eres mi ídolo, el único, me conmueve escucharte mi gran Bob Dylan, cuando parta de este mundo será con tus poemas transformadas en canciones. ❤️🎶🎸🇨🇱
For me. Listening to it takes me to a place of perfect universal awareness. The place it came from. It launched me on the road to greater freedom back in 1967🕺🌌
I'm sorry for your loss. That's very sad to hear; I can see how you might hear the song differently now. I hope your friend is on some distant beach of the imagination now, with 'one arm waving free'... Love from Adelaide, Australia.
That moment you realize Mr. Tambourine Man is like an evil St. Francis, luring desperate (sleepless) people away from their normal lives and enchanting them with his insidious tambourine song, to follow him listlessly in a state of numb addled bliss, as he draws them further and further into his dark world > and take me disappearing through the smoke rings of my mind > down the foggy ruins of time > far past the frozen leaves > the haunted, frightened trees, > out to the windy beach > far from the twisted reach of crazy sorrow
This is the first time I've heard this song. As I listen, decode, and interpret the lyrics I read your comment. Mr. Tambourine Man definitely personifies a desired state of euphoria to those who wish to escape their harsh reality. He's not necessarily a dealer of a drug or a drug. He's a feeling of the stress less bliss we all urne for and chase. Honestly, I didn't even think the song was that great until I got to the end of my reply to your comment lol
Well Bob you will be proud of the Australian kids, they walked out of there schools in mass protests at the slaughter of the Palestinian children. Across the Capital City's, maybe this generation will be safe from the child murderers of war. Take care Bob.🎉 Free Palestine. ( Australia 2023) ❤
What I find strange about the lyrics is it seems to relate to wanting to sleep and dream? As if maybe the original idea in mind was more "Hey mr Sand Man" where it almost begins to make more sense ....but what do I know just my 2 cents maybe he felt like Mr Sand Man was too cliche?? Or else maybe about just willing to succumb to the enevitable ....beyond sleep which includes dwinding into the trail;s end of old age and death? Might as well welcome it all because it coming anyways?
Song Suggested By Atharva Thorat ❤❤❤
I know it's kinda randomly asking but does anyone know of a good place to stream newly released tv shows online ?

Boa noite boa noite to indo embora agora mas tem umas 19 and then we love articles and then I get a stimulus a data 😢 question ⁉️❓
Dad used to lay beside me as a kid and sing me to sleep with this song. It's my lullaby. I'm 61 and he's gone.
What a wonderful memory that must be. UA-cam "kids cover Mr. Tambourine Man" It's a wonderful version.
Was a very nice memory...makes me think of snacks ,before bedtime and Levirn and Shirley on TV.
A lovely memory,! Im 71, i sang this to my baby niece when i was17. At this point in life, its the amazing memories from an amazing life. So lucky!
That's so sweet. So beautiful.
Awesome memory, good man.
There can be no doubt about why he won the Nobel Prize in Literature. This is wonderful. I am back in 1965.
Found Dylan at 19/20, im 31 now, it takes me back to youth
The last verse is epic, one of the greatest in music for me

Magical
Same for me. Best version of this song
This and John Denver's inimitable Annie's Song ("You fill up my senses...")
It is but maybe only in English, there are too many wonderful songs in the world, as a Spanish speaker I can tell without any doubt on it

Bob . What an ethralling song . Lovely melody . Musical genious of our times ! Hey .Mr Tambourine Man ! Let me forget today until tommorrow ..
I never tire listening to this beautiful song. The brilliant lyrics and the haunting voice of Bob Dylan made sure of that.
This is a cover by the helio sequence, not the original, and I noticed this one has a guitar solo not a harmonica solo, which I love
pure magic. the song of a generation.
It truly is magical!
The lyrics are perfection
If you have the foggiest day what they mean. High on dope??
Superb lyrics..like always..one and only Bob Dylan can write like this
I once listened to this song while crossing the Thames from Chelsea to Battersea at 5:30 am on the coldest day of January. I hadn't slept all night, I was carrying a very heavy backpack but I was going to see the woman that would become my wife.

An absolute masterpiece

This is a true poem
One of the best songs ever this is when music was music I’m 47 and I prefer classic rock songs over the noise they call music today 💯
Amazing thanks man
So now I got to know from where hindi song "Dafli wale Dafli baja " came from.
I sometimes think...

Beautiful. Percy Bysshe Shelley (d. Livorno, Italy, 1822) would be there too.
True genius.

Bruce Langhorne. Magnificent guitarist (who lost several ends of fingers as a child). Played with Tom Rush as well.

Love from Adelaide, Australia.
Hey Mr Evergreen man !
With Mr. Tambourine man’s tambourine playing and Piano Man’s piano playing, they’ll take over the music industry!
This use to be my dad’s fav song❤️ missing him extra as I’m listening to this 🕊️
smoke ring of my mind brilliance
