I think I'll try this approach in the raised garden beds I plan on creating this year. Thanks for this very insightful video and information, it all makes perfect sense. Have a Happy Easter. ~Margie
Hahaha.... My OCD mind kept saying "-thing" a million times! 😆😆😆. Thanks so much for the ideas in this video. I just ripped out an entire flower bed after being sick of fighting weeds.... Not anymore. Will try your methods.
I've used newspaper for years in my flowerbeds. You said you use grass clippings as a mulch. What about a combination of grass clippings and mulched leaves ? And what do you plant in your grow bags ? Loved that tutorial and your sewing machine, "flowers and flames"!
Thanks. Leaves are a great mulch as well. I use the grow bags on the deck and grow small items like spinach and lettuce. I do have a couple larger ones for dwarf tomatoes.
@@Growyourheirlooms Perfect, thanks. Grow bags for lettuce and spinach would work great on my patio to keep bunnies away. Garden is away from the house and even dogs can't keep them out. Happy gardening 🐰
I have been thinking about doing something like this with black plastic. However I am thinking that if the sun never hits the top of the soil, then the soil will not drain or dry up after watering, causing problems with root rot???
Don’t you need to water it for it yo break down? I think I messed up by watering one of my beds before putting the paper down:(. How often do you wet it to help break it dien
I use my weed torch and that takes care of the weed seeds that were attached.

Allways removed my weeds but will will rethink that now.

Well, that was certainly a different approach on weeds in the garden.

you can overcome such problem by making it raised bed to avoid water logging.
@@bharatkukreti8449 All of my garden beds are raised and have good runoff. The sun also helps evaporate the moisture in the soil.

It gets water this early in the spring from rain. However, it doesn't need it. In fact, the drier it is, the quicker the weeds die
Awesome 🥰
How often do you have to do this? Every year?
Yes. Although I don't always have lots of weeds I do like to top off the beds so I lay the paper anyways
@@Growyourheirloomsthanks for the fast reply!!
thank you i will try this
👍🏻👍🏻👏👏😎
