Fab was pushing crazy pounds of bud all throughout the 200’s. Fab is someone every city dude can relate too plus his flow and style(loved the throwbacks) just related to a regular city dude. These rappers today are garbage…don’t rap about shit you never been around. Too fake for me plus the lyrics and style are just wack
"Ride up on em like they escalators. They shook up and hooked up to respirators, on they last breath talking to investigators" Still one of the hardest lines ever said in any song
One of the hardest beats ever. We need producers like Just Blaze back more than ever. The trap stuff was okay at first but it’s been like 10 years of it
It's nice but it's not hard at all. Hard is dark and gritty while this is commercial. Now I'm not saying you can't bump it but to call it hard is beyond a stretch. Last Poet by Killarmy is an example of a hard beat. Put that in your tape deck then hit rewind and then interpret the rhymes to your homies.
My question is, why wouldn't anyone listen? Fab is still FAB, all these years later. I also listen to 2 Live Crew, so maybe I am not the best critic....
As a drummer I love the drums/beats in this song. Rap and R&B need to start laying down the beats again. Drums are the blood line to every style of music. They are the very first thing that everyone listening hears and loves.
Question for a drummer, what do you like about the era of hiphop in the 90s-2000s in terms of drums vs. now? You mentioned laying down the beats again. Do you feel drums like in this song is not common anymore? I wonder if its because alot of classic hip hop sampled off of drum breaks from soul, funk and rock artists. in the 2000s this carried on, and producers like Just Blaze played his drums for the tracks. I don’t feel drum breaks like these are popular anymore in hip hop. Trap drums have a very specific formula, and usually made with 808 drums. I am not a drummer, but as a beat maker, drums now days don’t really have things like dynamics or variations in levels (like when you play real drums or sample from records, kicks and snares all hit slightly different and a bit out of time because humans are playing). This is pretty much gone now in modern hiphop production, unless they are doing a throwback boom bap track.
