I get most of my business from word of mouth and 'cold calls.' I'll research businesses in a given area and see what they are doing in the area of social media and webstites. Then I taylor a short pitch in print form to match their needs ( you have to create a 'need' for a customer, so to speak). I then visit those businesses, industrial companies, etc. And talk to the proper person, or send an email to them. I do this for publications, authors, newspapers, etc. As a side note, social media is largely useless for drumming up business. Websites are largely useless except for a place to park a portfolio and provide a link. Putting ads in newspapers for photography is largely useless (and i have 40 years of pro photography under my belt). What works bes is to actually meet people face to face because they remember you and it isn't a impersonal email. I get calls from 1000 miles away from businesses and people who recognize my name or work as the choice over local photographers in their lication - I can deliver what they need with a personal touch and give them what they need. Bill youself as not only a Photographer but also a Creative Director.
Word of mouth is the king of all methods imho. Clients are immediately at ease when they got recommendation from their friends or family. Soo for all new photographers… step one - have friends 😅 Step two- have decent portfolio online with your unique domain and email. It just looks professional. It’s not expensive these days so take care of that. Step three - never back down.
I appreciate these videos. Comparison is the thief of joy
That’s a great one David! Thanks for chiming in ✌️

The only thing you actually "NEED" is self hate. Especially on film. You're welcome.
