- Bristol Channel Sea Fishing Near The Black Pipe in Newport, South Wales. Join me as I venture to one of my local marks where over the years, I've had some nice Spring Cod. A lovely spot with plenty of wildlife about to keep you entertained in-between casts!

Great video mate. I haven't fished the black, or stench pipe as we used to call it for probably 40 years. I walked the dog from the Lighthouse car park down there last week, I see they have put a gate at the end of Outfall Lane so not much parking there now.

Hope you've been managing to get a few sessions in of late. I fished Newton Beach in Porthcawl last Friday evening, nothing special but lots of Dogfish to keep the rod tips busy and the weather was fab. Cheers mate 👍👍

Thank you Huw, nice of you to say. I try my best to make videos that are relaxing to watch, probably explains why I miss so many fish ha! I put more of an emphasis on the footage than I do the fishing. Some Cod this Autumn/Winter would be nice as my last proper one was a few years ago at Goldcliff, 8lbs 6oz. If not, then a few decent Whiting will do me, along with some nice Winter Flounder. Cheers for watching, hopefully more to come soon 👍👍

I wouldn’t give it a second thought about being conscious about not catching bigger fish. People watch because they like seeing you fish and your surroundings you are at. They may even like you 🤣🤣🤣. So I wouldn’t give it a second thought. If you blanked it would not matter just upload everything. All the best channel doing great.

Looks a nice mark that but a bit off a walk. Codling good to catch a bit windy but a sunny day can’t knock it. Like your ninja reflex seeing bites whilst chatting. I watch your channel as it’s relaxing and laid back something I am not at times 🤣🤣. Caught more codling in one session than me all year 😢😢😊. Always good to hear a Sky lark.
Thanks Vern. Yeah lovely mark, fishes nothing like it did when I was a kid but I still like going back there. The bird life is fantastic and the Sky Larks were on good form. Lots of Goldfinches about that day too, good to see. I may come across as being relaxed but there are times when I want to swear out loud, for example if the tripod falls over or if I say the wrong etc...as you will know, filming and fishing at the same time can be very challenging ha! I'm only catching small fish at the moment, doesn't bother me but getting a bit conscious now that I'm getting no decent fish on camera... hopefully things will improve soon. Fishing has been terrible since the new year all those storms we had combined with far more easterly winds than any year I can remember have really made it a struggle to even find a suitable day to fish with reasonable conditions.
Yes mate I agree, these easterly winds have been with us for ages now, just can't seem to shift them and it's not easy to plan a day's fishing as you say. Let's hope conditions improve soon, possibility that the winds will swing around to a more westerly direction next week. Cheers 👍👍
Well done mate nice to see you fishing. I went on Wednesday and caught 2 codling and one rockling. Unfortunately cod isn’t big this season. Hopefully we can have good bass season in summertime

@@davidwilliams6525 Yeah I'll still be working full time but going down to part time time with my main job, which will allow me more time to push my UA-cam channel and Ebay shop (my other jobs). I can no longer look at a laptop for 40 hours a week as it's destroying my eyes and brain and so time to mix it up now. Like most of us, my dad worked hard all of his life, retired at 69 and then died a year later and so I have a different outlook on life now. Life is short, we never know what's around the corner and so I'm taking the plunge now. Hopefully I can make it work 👍👍
@@riversidewithme Similar story with my dad but he was only 59. I still have another 7 years of work. It's probably the same there with interest rate drops smashing retirement funds. I wish you all the very best and admire you for taking an educated risk to drop hours on your main job. If you are like other people I know who work for themselves you will probably end up working more that 40 hours a week but enjoy it a whole lot more. What's your Ebay shop called?

Yeah I'm happy to work long hours but I no longer want to be a slave to the system, I want to be my own boss. As you say, retirement funds are being slashed annually and it makes you think what's the point. My eBay shop is called GSP Trading, only small but I will have time to grow it when I go part time. 👍

Thanks for subscribing Tom, I appreciate it. You can either park in the Lighthouse Inn carpark (pay and display) or on the road just before the pub entrance, beyond the double yellow lines. Takes about 15 mins to walk to the mark from there. Cheers 👍👍

Thanks Robert, I appreciate it. It's just next to St Brides. So you can park at the Lighthouse Inn and then walk to your right, takes 10 to 15 minutes. Cheers 👍👍

Hi what rod and reel are you using there?
Hi mate. I built the one rod myself, that's the Power Tech Surf (one with blue writing) and the other is an Abu Garcia Conolon which I've had for 22 years. The multiplier reel is an Abu Garcia 6500 mag elite and the fixed spool reel is a non branded size 8000 full metal reel ( I got this direct from a friend who works in the fishing tackle industry) Cheers 👍👍
