Peckforton Railway - Animated plan (with on-board trip)

- An animated plan showing the route from one end of the line to the other - also includes a driver's eye view. The animated plan was created from a series of still images drawn in Serif Draw Plus. These were then animated using 'Image to Video' a freeware program. The movie was edited in Corel VideoStudio Pro - the plan and music being synched manually to the on-board video. The music is 'Breaktime' by Kevin MacCleod (incompetech.com) licensed under Creative Commons Attribution 3.0. For more information about the Peckforton Light Railway see riksrailway.blo...

Fantastic, I love drivers eye views of garden railways, but I've never seen one before with the map. Animated too! Just perfect, a lot of you-tubers could learn a lot from you. Well done and thankyou. Grant, New Zealand.
Hello!
Now I've seen some of the videos of Peckforton Railway, but never realised, the trackplan would be such a clever layout.
Great respect to this.
Tobias.
Thanks Tobias. I'm glad you like it. I wanted something which would give me a range of different ways of operating the line. It was partly planned and partly accidental.
Thanks - I'm glad you liked it. I've always felt that when viewing others' onboard rides I've wanted to know the trackplan - so this I felt was a way of showing that. Mind you, it took a long time to create the animation!
Super!
The best ride on video I have seen ! Very well done.
Excellent, a really good idea to merge the two together, gives a good understanding of a great layout. Well Done !
Best Regards
John
Nice layout and beautifull garden ! Congratulations from France.
Thanks - keeps me happy
I found your Video one of the most interesting I`ve run into as yet, There was nothing at all I
could pick on if I wanted to, Even the little jump or shudder @ each point she crossed made me
feel at home as all my points are Scratchbuilt and do the same! Very pleaseing to the eye
Thankyou for your effort, FULL MARKS!.
John.
congratiulations from vienna, well done, good job, wonderful layout.
Thanks, very kind of you. Things have moved on a bit since I made this video.

Thanks John. Took a while to put together the animation, but I thought it might help orientation when trying to figure out where the train was on the line, particularly it doubles-back at one point.

Thanks John - you'll notice a couple of times the wagon on which I'd mounted the camera (one of those very cheap helmet cams) is too light to shift the blades over - but fortunately it didn't become derailed.
You may notice also the song of the resident robin about 4 mins into the video. He always seems to appear whenever I have a running session (I've also posted a video of him warning me about the cat)

Thanks John. I wrote the article at the start of December and was not sure when it would appear. Tag's done a good job of turning my ramblings into something coherent - and the photos look better than I remember them. Should be a follow-up article on freight operations appearing sometime.
