I'm glad he is too! So much of your music feels like a hug to me. You're severely underrated and I've been recommending you to more and more reactors. A rising tide, etc.
When Romain moved to Brighton about 6-8 years ago, he knew no English. He's become very skilled since then, but I think one of the assets in his writing is that he uses simple and direct language. There is kindness, a gentleness, in his voice that makes the simple words encompass everything that needs to be conveyed. This song is simply timeless.
Oh my word. Romain, just when I thought this song couldn’t get anymore beautiful, your singing voice is wonderful. Then you blow my mind when you have your guitar singing. Your playing reminds me of Mark Knopfler (Dire Straits) … specifically tracks like Brothers in Arms. You could ride on that beautiful soaring guitar melody. Stunning. Thanks Tim for doing a reaction to this gem.
Never seen someone so in tune with their instrument as Romain - it really is like an extra part of him. The guitar solo at the end of this masterpiece is incredibly beautiful. Would love you to dive into a couple more of my favourite Romain songs - Goodbye Good Days and Love Without Feelings (live) (which gives me a real Beatkes vibe.
Thank you so much for reaction to Romain. ANY Romain music. He is awesome. And Georgia On My Mind was also a favorite of mine. His solo 75 beats per minutes of just guitar playing might be the one that makes me tear up, just from the pure sound and emotion.
Hey Tim, Love this song Romain!! So emotional! First thing I realize is I can see why your band went separate ways. Not at all on a bad note but you all need to soar in your own ways. I just found the big push a few months ago so I am sad to see you all go but when I heard this song it makes sense. Can't wait to hear more Romain!! XOX
Thanks for giving Romain a platform he well deserves. Next time you listen to this, rather than thinking of Change; think instead of War. " All we've learnt here was violence..." "...Soon there'll be nothing out here we're calling home..." and "...Never to young to die, when the old don't learn the lesson..." are all lines which resonate with anti war sentiments. The word was Sins. "...We'll bury our sins..." Just adore how Romain's makes the guitar cry along with him at the end.
Romain's music always feels like love for me. A hug, an arm around your shoulders, a shoulder to cry on. He really loves what he's doing and also, in this case, the people he writes for
Great now I am crying in public again 😢 this whole arrangement is beautiful, his voice is beautiful, he makes the guitar cry, beautiful haunting lyrics are amazing. Romain is really really talented and gets less attention than he should! I’m so glad you’re shining the light on him. Thank you❤❤
Thank you for breaking down my favorite Romain song. He really knows how to make that guitar sing. It breaks my heart even more than the lyrics You're right about feeling like you know him by listening. You can just feel a beautiful, kind soul emanating through the music Beautiful reaction 💙💙💙💙💙
This song and his performance always stirs such a heartbroken longing in my chest. I sent it to a friend of mine whose parents are from the Israel/Palestine war zone (which is the conflict Romain wrote this about), and he was so deeply affected by it.
Love Romain Tim. His music is mesmerizing. Hauntingly beautiful. I agree with you. I love the tone of that guitar. And his emotions come out through his playing. I've never been so impressed with a performer in many years(I am 75 years old). He is so passionate about his performances. He is so versatile also. He can make you cry with a song like this one or make you feel the pure joy he feels when he is rocking it. So many songs to explore. Another one you should check out is Good Bye Good Days. One of my absolute favourites.
I love this song, like a lot of people I came across Romain through The Big Push and Ren. Like with Ren I was hooked. To me it's the soul and passion also with Romain it's the pronunciation and clarity with the French undertone. Amazing.
This is one of my favourite solo songs Romain has released so far. His musicality just blows me away. He’s such a beautiful guitarist; so instinctual & with such remarkable tone. He really embodies whatever piece he’s playing. I’d love to see him gain more of a following & recognition of his talent. It’s wonderfully refreshing to see things beginning to take a turn back in the direction of listeners actually appreciating true talent & musicianship rather than the over-produced “sugar pop” & repetitive industry take on rap/hip-hop that dominated the industry for years. I hope it lasts & grows, so that real talented musicians can continue to increase their listenership. I only hope that AI doesn’t negatively impact this, & begin suppressing/replacing “real” music, as it grows in its ability to mimic. I’ve really been enjoying watching your videos & hearing your thoughts on the artists that you’ve covered. Loved your reaction & I’m delighted that you’re reviewing Romain’s work. Much love ‘til the next one. xx
Thank you for showing Romain some love! He is amazing! I love his French accent but I also love when he sings in French! He literally stirs my heart, brain and soul! He is very special! His guitar is just an extension of him and he conveys so much emotion through it! Loved this breakdown! More please! ❤️🔥✌🏻🫶🏻
I personally don't mind when people are singing in English when it is not their first language. Especially when the pronunciation is good enough to be understood. Singing tends to remove a lot of accent anyway (at least in English). I like how Romain's voice sort of flows in and out of noticeable accent and then he hits a word that he just has a completely different accent to (like when he sings "angel" in What Kind of Woman is This, as an extreme example).
The way the loop clicks and echoes makes me think of landmines and guns cocking. That metallic clunk being the last thing so many people around the world in different conflicts heard. The church, the flickering flames, the shadows, the lights, the pain, the beauty, and that unforgiving click all unite to tell the story.
I agree, Romain is a truly beautiful soul ✨ This song is so powerful, in a hauntingly beautiful and tragic way. Romain brings so much emotion not just to his singing, but also his guitar tone. He makes that guitar sing. That final guitar verse said more than words could say. I’m not sure if you saw his description: “A few weeks ago this song came out of me. It was firstly inspired by what is happening in Gaza, a tribute for all the victims. But I think it’s also just about human destruction in its whole. Every innocent victim, every terrible mistake humans have made and keep making. This is what this song is about: when are we gonna stop making them?” 😿
I have been taken with Romain's musicianship from the very first Big Push video I watched. He just stands out with his guitar skills and the heartfelt performances.
Romain's guitar playing is other worldly and so emotional. He has a beautiful voice, too. Love his music. Excellent reaction, Tim. I love listening to other people's accents when they sing in English. 💜💜💜
This is such an emotional song and the performance just pierces your soul. Thank you for shining a light on this amazing artist. Next you might want to try Goodbye Good Days. I think you’ll love it. 💛
First, thank you for listening to the entire song and then doing a breakdown... I was thinking about the mic and acoustic when you brought it up.. Yes, a lot of ambient sound but the richness of the vocal tone is superb. Something I noticed about both Axisa and Ren's guitar playing. They both utilize the entire time signature of each beat when placing the notes.. It adds so much soul to the sound
If you wanted to continue this Ren and friends rabbit hole, Eden Nash has two songs with Ren called Humble and Ocean. I don’t think she is famous, actually her only claim to fame is the two songs. Both songs are great and she kills it on both. Definitely worth looking into.
Romain is truly one of the most beautiful and unique individuals I have ever had the privilege of hearing… truly emotional hearing this performance again… definitely Tears Live will give you another great opportunity to see his beauty… thank you Tim… some souls just need to be seen.. 🫶🏻♥️🫶🏻
Thank you for doing this. So important right now. I would stack it will the great protest songs of the 60s. I would love for you to also react to Goodbye Good Days. Love your insights!
I 100% agree with you about artists whose 1st language isn't English, or even just non-American artists singing with their own accent. A lot of people sort of grumble about not being able to understand them, but really all it takes is a little more exposure to accents that differ from your own and you get better at understanding. I love them because I enjoy music that sounds different or unique to me, rather than the same old sound of the music that is popular. I'm so happy you're listening to Romain. His guitar playing is beautiful, his voice is beautiful, and he puts so much emotion into both of them. I just love him!!
Thanks Tim, I pleaded w/you to do this track because I really think it is a thing of great beauty. Big fan of everything Romain does but oh…that guitar
Wow, that was really gorgeous. Love the guitar and love his voice. Those lyrics too. Ugh, it really pulled at my heartstrings. I caught myself sitting perfectly still and just listening to him. Not many people have that effect on me. Also I love that his voice is just so pure. Not alot of acrobatics or riffs and runs. Just straight honest singing. I really dig it
So pleased you are heading down the Romain Rabbit Hole! He’s such a special human, and his guitar playing is something else too. He’s got new music coming out soon, so watch out for that. Welcome to my Town sounds such a vibe! 🫶🏻 Great reaction as always Tim. Such a moving song.
The sound of hearts bleading.😥💔 Okay, now I need to go for a walk on this cold, cloudy, grey Autumn day with Romaine's blues guitar playing in my ears. Thanks for the reminder.
Thank you Tim 🙏❤ such a stunning, poignant beauty 🥹 from gorgeous Romaine. His voice, words, tones and soul entwine with his strings & vibrate out in majestic frequency, straight to my heart & soul. Beaut reaction & support ☺️❤️
You get to a certain age, that you have been brutalised by life, you suffer and when you look around you see others suffering ( some have way way worse than others) but in the end you realise suffering is part of life, and it becomes a reason to allow our hearts to get hard, making the world even colder. What i love about Romain and his music is that he keeps his heart soft and shares a tenderness, that helps keep warmth and compassion alive. Truly a beautiful soul, showing us we are all united, we all have hopes, fears, dreams, and also all suffer. His sound is a sanctuary. Thanks for the reaction and breakdown to this. Bless!
Oh this song!!! Reminds me so much of John Lennon (but not a copy, not at all) but the timeless classic sound. This song makes me cry every time 😢😢 ❤ might still be the best song of 2024. Thanks for this Tim! I adore Romain and his music ❤ his voice is warm and emotional. Incredible.
Romain has a lot of solo work, and of course most of it features his amazing guitar playing. But this is my favorite song by any artist, of 2024. This stands with the all time best guitar songs of all time. Romain released an entire album of guitar only songs, without singing this year, but he is a wonderful lyricists. I'm at least 30 years older than Romain, but his lyrics speak to me, and his music transports me above the everyday. Thanks for your support of this song.
The end of the song where it is just the guitar playing leaves me with beautiful imagery. The music portrays two narratives at the same time. The first is the methodical rhythm of the baseline. It's the sound of time marching on and on or perhaps the the weary steps of the downtrodden. The second is the notes that Romain plays. They sound like the cry of the soul. Romaine does such a beautiful job at channeling emotion through his music. ❤
Wonderful reaction to this wonderful young man with a beautiful sole, song and guitar skills to match. What a great day it was for all of us when Romain and Ren met and became flat mates. Kia kaha from NZ
Another crackin' reaction, I've said it to you a few times now, I love listening along with you uninterrupted, especially if, as in this case, I haven't heard the song before. Your face, more often than not, tells us everything without you speaking, chuckle!! So expressive. I'm liking the, 'spread the news and help the lesser known music makers' ethos. I, like you, believe that the future of good music lies with the independent makers, creating from the heart, without the burden of overly avaricious labels. I hope you keep up the good works kiddo. If I may, I would like to suggest a couple of things I'd enjoy. The first would be your impression of Paolo Nutini singing Iron Sky, live at Abbey road. I've a feeling that you would like it. The second suggestion is that maybe you could do a joint review and chat along similar lines to your current format, with one or two of your co workers, the professional singers who help you, just a thought. Keep well and keep on truckin', best regards, Matt.
I was literally going to tell you: "Isn't he a beautiful human?" before you finished the first listening lol and then you just said it: "what a beautiful soul". Yes. Everything Romain does is beautiful. Beautifully sensitive, beautifully emotional, beautiful singing, beautiful lyrics, beautiful meaning... I absolutely adore Romain and the purity of the feelings he expresses in his songs... he always makes me emotional and gives me the goosebumps, that rarely happens with artists nowadays... Ren, Chin, Sam, Romain, Gorran all of them are veeeeeeeeeeery much in the feelings and I am so happy I am here in a time we are getting back artists that sing about real stuff. Thank youuuuuuu
Hey Tim, thanks a lot for this new reaction! Really love seeing you getting into my songs. Much love my friend!
I'm glad he is too! So much of your music feels like a hug to me. You're severely underrated and I've been recommending you to more and more reactors. A rising tide, etc.
This performance is hypnotizing. I love it so much ❤
My pleasure, my friend! I thoroughly enjoy listening to you perform. More to come. 💛✨🙏🏼
I just love that others are starting to find your beautiful music Romain ❤
Keep doing what you're doing Romaine. It matters.
With progressing age we need to wisely choose for whom we give our time. And there he is.
This is one of his most exquisite pieces. Romain doesn’t simply play his guitar, he makes it sing and cry.
Thank you for reviewing this song 😢❤
So well put. His guitar is part of him.
Oh my word. Romain, just when I thought this song couldn’t get anymore beautiful, your singing voice is wonderful. Then you blow my mind when you have your guitar singing. I really love how Romain's warm, rich vocal tone matches the tone of his guitar.
I truly love this one. Heartbreaking but beautifully executed. His guitar is crying, and so am I.
XOX
I find it especially compelling that Romain can put as much emotion into his guitar work as his singing.
Absolutely ❤
The first time I heard this, it was during the part with just the guitar that I realized I was crying
Sir, I didn't know. OMG Magnificent.!!!!
So beautiful 🔥❤️✌️
Thanks for giving Romain a platform he well deserves.

Aww!! 💛💛💛🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
His voice is hauntingly exquisite. He feels it to his core.
Romain felt compelled to write something about the situation in the Middle East. This is the result!!
He's saying "We'll bury our sins.."
Oh! That’s the motivation, thanks!! 💛✨🙏🏼
Now to check out one of Gorran's. My favorite is If(Live). 💜💜
This song brings me to tears every time. So soulful, so beautiful. 🥺
Thank you for breaking down my favorite Romain song. He really knows how to make that guitar sing. It breaks my heart even more than the lyrics
You're right about feeling like you know him by listening. You can just feel a beautiful, kind soul emanating through the music
Beautiful reaction 💙💙💙💙💙
This song and his performance always stirs such a heartbroken longing in my chest. I sent it to a friend of mine whose parents are from the Israel/Palestine war zone (which is the conflict Romain wrote this about), and he was so deeply affected by it.
Hauntingly beautiful.
I always feel the guitar singing the second part. It's a gut punch.
Romains music makes me feel like I'm floating. I love it so much 🧡🧡🧡
I love that, yes!
Love Romain Tim. His music is mesmerizing. Hauntingly beautiful. I agree with you. I love the tone of that guitar. And his emotions come out through his playing. I’ll put it on the list thank you!

I love the way the space gives the song so much presence. Goosebumps every time. The emotion in his guitar is impressive, she sings with him.

This comment made me tear up
Thank you for doing more Romain, love his music and voice ❤
Easily my favorite RA composition and performance. Thanks
His 'Happy song live at Oto's' is an incredible vibe. Well worth a watch.
I agree, Romain is a truly beautiful soul ✨ This song is so powerful, in a hauntingly beautiful and tragic way. Romain brings so much emotion not just to his singing, but also his guitar tone. He makes that guitar sing. That final guitar verse said more than words could say.

No, I didn’t see that, thanks for sharing though. So so so beautiful. 🥲✨🙏🏼
Thanks for reacting to this song...makes me cry every time
I just love this track, Romain is so very special. Great choice and reaction.
Romain nailed this one, sublime performance !! Wonderful reaction as always Tim
I have been taken with Romain's musicianship from the very first Big Push video I watched. He just stands out with his guitar skills and the heartfelt performances.
Great to see this beautiful heart-breaking song get some well-deserved attention/recognition. Thank you
Love without feelings live is a must too!
Romain's guitar playing is other worldly and so emotional. He has a beautiful voice, too. Love his music. Excellent reaction, Tim. I love listening to other people's accents when they sing in English. 💜💜💜
Romain breaks my heart. Something about his whole vibe points to Something fragile within me
Simply Beautiful. ♥️
I'm so glad you got to experience this beautiful beautiful song from Romain
Yes Tim! Romain is definitely a “Great Great Beautiful Artist” and I’d like to add a Great Great Human Being❣️
His music seriously pierces my soul🎸🎶💫
You students were amazing by the way
Aww thanks!
Gorgeous. Exactly. That is the word telling all about Romain. 💙
Thank you for reacting to Romaine! 🙏❤❤
First saw him busking with Ren and the Big push. Hes a great talent.
His voice is like warm honey. But he can also eviscerate with his guitar skills. Adore Romaine. ❤😊
Love that, warm honey!
You can always see and hear the love he feels for music when he sings and plays. As a musician who feels much the same, he makes me happy
Beautiful❤❤❤
Thanks for doing this one- it has become one of my heart songs. ❤
Thank you Tim another fantastic reaction hopefully Happy Song ( Live at Oto’s) next for Romain. Blessed Be.
I am so excited that you’re doing this! I’m sitting back and enjoying the show here❤❤❤
This is such an emotional song and the performance just pierces your soul. Thank you for shining a light on this amazing artist. Next you might want to try Goodbye Good Days. I think you’ll love it. 💛
Great thanks Cheryl!
What a genuine and talented man.
He's got such a beautiful and gentle voice, and he knows how to also give his guitar a voice and to sing. That's one of the things i love about him 🥹💜
First, thank you for listening to the entire song and then doing a breakdown...
I love her voice
Romain is truly one of the most beautiful and unique individuals I have ever had the privilege of hearing… truly emotional hearing this performance again… definitely Tears Live will give you another great opportunity to see his beauty… thank you Tim… some souls just need to be seen..

Romaine's guitar playing is ethereal. And his voice on this is like sitting on clouds. I just love it!

Goodbye Good Days is another great one!!
