Okay now this is the most amazing content I've seen so far and I watched EVERY wildlife/exploring documentary out there. My guy your intelligence and integrity really shows through and makes yours videos so immersive, the cinematography, the effort, you calm voice (to be honest I'd be too scared to watch these alone if it weren't for your calm voice), the handsome videographer, the scenery...all so impressive.
Thank you for stayinh real and not faking shit, photoshopping or acting like a lunatic on steroids lol, you're truly one of a kind and you obviously have the talent for these sort of things. The way you capture your feelings honestly...wow makes me feel like I'm there
I mean, you accomplished something 90% of people never would dare to do and please make more of these...fuck it, make it a series, make a 100 episodes!
I've just finished watching and on the weekend I've invited a whole friend group over and we're watching it for a movie night

Central Pa ----Olympic Peninsula. I have had 2 sightings in my life, one in 1987, and 2021. 3 years ago, a 'tree peeker" scared our dogs into instantly wetting themselves and whining once that black head popped out for 1 second (with bed head) behind the fir tree and then into a game trail to disappear. in 2017, an incessant window tapper, got my friends and me to chase this thing around the fields behind our house. Zipping by us in the darkness we all just got glimpses of a 5 foot tall, incredibly fast, black figure. Fresh plowed fields are not easy to run in, and this thing was running circles around us, toying with us for fun. About once a year, I still hear vocalizations that are unmistakable.

The birds sounds are one thing we hear all the time. Song birds on our trail hikes that suddenly start making weird calls. Once, right before a large rock landed next to me and the wife on a trail, I asked her, "do you hear that bird?, It almost sound like a bird was trying to imitate a kookaburra from down under. Then, "booom!" the rock landed with debris actually dispersing in the air around it. I am always brave until that happens.

Jane Goodall often speaks of how for the first 18 months of her study, all she could do is follow the sounds of a troop of chimps. It was 18 months until she first SAW them. It took another year to get closer, and 2 years to assimilate into 1 troop of chimps. That is nearly 4 years of work to get near them for the first time.

@@GoofBallGuru OR, you could just live in an area where they are prevalent (one of the reasons I love being here on the Olympic peninsula, Beach, Mountains, salmon river, lakes, and out in a heavily wooded, low populated area) and set up a zone that you can monitor, where you have reasons to believe there are nearby. Let them come to you. I am retired and have a condition that makes me sensitive to light and sound so I stay awake all night, all year and keep my recorded and DVR camera, as well as 4 security cameras facing outward from our property. The wife and I have had rocks tossed at us twice, lots of crazy bird calls, owls that cough, long, low grumble moans and high pitched "weepwhistle" (try to whistle on the p in weep, I have to adjust my mouth to do it and there is a slight pause, She? somehow does). Sasq'ets season has just started around here, they mainly spend a lot of time in the higher peaks in summer, then follow the elk and deer away from the 14 feet of snow, and fourage the foothills and water sources. I used to sit on the fence about sasquatch, until I moved here.

We all experience fear it's because we are human. Once paranoia sets in then the mind plays with you. I think in your situation was knowing what you could possibly expect because of someone else's prior experience in the daylight and not being able to see at dark. The dark can never hurt you as well as the daylight. It's what's in the dark and what we can't see gives us fear. You should always trust your gut but in the same sentence try not to let your mind wonder. Good video, keep up the good work.

    • @mikewanders
      @mikewanders  Місяць тому +10

Completely agree. I’m fully aware that yes, while other senses do seem to become heightened in the dark, you also can TOTALLY freak yourself out bc of what’s already in your head, or just your own imagination in the moment. However, I’m still really weirded out by how creeped out I got in that situation, especially since I’ve been alone in the dark in very sketchy places before and after this video was shot. Very enjoyable presentation with great cinemaphotography and music. I take my hat off to you ,as being aware that these things and so much more exist along side us, oh and all the missing 411 stuff, walking alone in a forest, especially when dark, is something I can't see myself doing anytime soon. Let's not also forget about sightings of dogman, whose prints I've been able to recover here in a Slovak forest. There's certainly a lot more to life than we can ever begin to imagine. Yeah, the Freeman footage is right up there with the Patterson footage, maybe better because it's height is incredible and it looks the way I'd expect it to look, ape-like but too human to pull the trigger on. That place looks so much like the west coast. Would be cool to sit on that ridge with a big lens and try to catch something on film from afar.
I think the best time to be out there is right after a couple days of rain, when that sun finally comes out. Everything wants to be out and about at that time. And also if you can time it when it's a full moon, man then you are in for it because there's just no way these creatures wouldn't take advantage of all that light..though they may be annoyed with you being there. And the tree knocking, 1 knock and then another 30 seconds or so later probably works better. Rock clacking might work too. With one knock you might force them to knock back to make sure they heard another bigfoot. With two knocks they probably realize you're a human. Honestly I don't know what they use to tree knock before limbs on the forest floor are rotten and don't make a thud. Maybe they use a rock or even an open palm against the tree.
I remember having a feeling like that before when I had an encounter. Basically I entered an area with grass that was over my head, right next to a water source, just a perfect area for an elusive creature, and it felt like I had just stupidly walked into someone's home without asking. This trespassing, shame, and dread feeling all rolled into one. It made me feel guilt for treating the forest like it was my playground. Nothing we can do about it though, to enjoy the wilderness you're going to interfere with the wildlife. I've had other encounters though where I didn't feel anything. I think it depends on their intent. You could have been near a mountain as well though, who knows. Good to go with your gut.
Sasquatch can easily evade and in the Patty footage they'd seen two other sets of tracks, plus she's female, and the Freeman encounter came with additional small tracks, so I'm pretty sure she or they were trying to lead the men away from their young.
Thanks for sharing your experiences/travels with us. I'm a fan of your approach.

The "siege at Honobia incident" comes to mind. All reported time where someone shot at a creature , then more creatures came to basically seek vengeance. And the people then barricaded themselves into a room or cabin, because they felt that the fire arm it's self, wasn't going to be enough to protect them. These are just reports, I wasn't there

First off, very impressive nightstand! Welcome to an elite club.
I know for a fact an objective, reality driven fact that doing this will test even the bravest soul, and break down all others. Those who approach this subjectively have no idea, and their subjective thoughts can't even come close to the emotions one will experience doing what you’ve done and are continuing to do. What you're doing is not for the weak!
And... that saying, "Feelings aren’t facts"!!?? It needs to be set aside. Feelings can be & often ar facts! We need to stop dismissing that truth. Obviously, self-awareness is crucial to confirm feelings as facts, something less than 20% of the world has, but it can be learned.

Not scared, just odd. When he got back home he went througn the pics on the goPre and saw that at somewhere on the trail a black bear came out of the trees about 100 yds. behind him. I believe that Paul used to patrol the Mill Creek watershed, which is off limits to the public as it provides clean water to the city of Walla Walla - I used to manage the county conservation district in Walla Walla and even I wasn't allowed inside Mill Creek watershed where I believe that Paul Freeman got the footage.
I believe that the watershed is only open to the public if you draw a lottery ticket for one of the limited elk hunts in the watershed.
That being said... how did you get permission to be there?
I've only been in the watershed once... and that was with the forester at my side... bull trout reside there and are protected by the federal endangerrd species act.

I am so freckin envious of you! What I wouldn't do for a chance to walk the same ground that Paul Freeman shot that great film of a Sasquatch (possibly two). I honestly believe that the Freeman's footage is our generation's Bluff Creek. I wish Mr. Freeman was still alive because I would have loved to had the chance to correspond with him, or even possibly a chance to interview him. There are so many questions I have about, not just his famous footage, but all of his research. You do a fantastic job on this documentary and I hope to see more of your work in the future. I like the way you didn't overpower the narrative, whether it was on purpose or not. I love the fact that you allowed the landscape to be the protagonist in this story because at the end of the day, is there a more beautiful place in the world then the Blue Mountains?. Always follow your gut. Everything you felt was right. I had enormous chills from start to finish, just watching you. Seriously, there was something out there in the stillness of that trail, watching you. I could feel it. Please think carefully about going alone on these ventures. I would hope you are armed, and at least have a dog companion. Stay SAFE, first and foremost.

Whilst you were out there crapping your pants I was in my comfortable bed and this was so relaxing to watch I fell asleep. So thanks for this great video 😅😊 it was very honest. I think most of us would shit our pants out there doing that. Kudos

48:20 if there was silence and fear, it means that you were around the BF, the nephilims, the half demonic creatures… That’s why your soul fears them! But it’s funny that you went there to see them, but then, you are afraid of their presence?!!! 🤷‍♀️ Blessed is the man that stays among the righteous, not evil!

I'm shocked you walk at night without night vision equipment. I had to do it one night when my car broke down and it was the freakiest feeling I ever had and I photographed moose at 10 feet. respect!
