*At **1:37** in this video:* the level of the animation and picture quality of the second season (starting from the third episode) and third season (all episodes) of The Jetsons - _it was the _*_very_*_ first T.V. animation to use digital ink-and-paint and shot with digital video, instead of it in using the usual cell animation techniques and shot onto reel-to-reel filmstrip (which was the norm back then)!!!_ - was very fitting there, with us in seeing as The Jetsons animated T.V. series takes place in a *_very_* future-like setting!
Bonus fact: since George and Mel passed away during production of the Jetsons movie, Jeff Bergman (current voice of Bugs Bunny) recorded some of the lines for the characters
Janet Waldo (RIP 2016) came back and recorded lines for the movie but those f**** douchebag executives made the "wise" decision to replace her at the last minute with pop singer Tiffany (who did the 80's version of Tommy Jame's "I Think We're Alone Now".)
I'm surprised that Fender Bender 500 wasn't mentioned as spin-off of Wacky Races, but then again it could be/ can be said that its a spin-off to Yogi's Space Race.
aw man I remember sneaking out in 4 in the morning to watch old reruns of The Banana Splits back in the early 90's on CN via satelite, a big part of why I learned English
'Stop the Pigeon!' Definitely my favourite of the whole Hanna Barbera galaxy! I thought it was great when I found out Dick Dasterdly and Muttley had their own show when I was younger! I used to think Stop the pigeon was kind of interesting as presumably there is some sort of war going on in the background that we never see. Dick talks to the general and presumably the pigeon is carrying military orders...it seems like the kind of scenario fan fiction is made for!
Okay.....First off....I would love! To be in one of those cars! I would especially love to be in The Mean Machine, or The Compact Pussycat oddly enough....Also, I've always imagined Dread Baron and Mumbly and Dick Dastardly and Muttley being brothers for some reason! XD
I'm sure the jetsons inspired some of the inventions used today such as the video phone. Maybe the moving floor. The robots like rosie. And inspired the flying car of the future.
I really enjoy watching old episodes of Jonny Quest :3 Wacky Races is sometimes on, but it's not something I latch onto like glue to paper. Dick Dastardly and Muttly are some of my favorite Hanna-Barbera "villians". It's hard to find "Laugh-O-Lympics" nowadays, I liked watching that too. Great trivia Mat, I can never get the "Tra-la-la" song out of my head. It's annoying, but great at the same time.
I loved waking early on Saturday morning (sometimes to the screen-test pattern), just to get a jump on the day with Clutch Cargo, Johnny Quest, Tom & Jerry, Bugs Bunny Hour, Astro Boy, Wacky Races, Magilla Gorilla, George of the Jungle... the early 60s were the greatest! Mothers began complaining that the cartoons were too violent an by the late 60s cartoon shows got worse and worse. They were all eventually replaced by soft, lame cartoons and non-animated shows like HR Puff & Stuff, used for marketing and advertizing.
Whoever filmed this Hanna-Barbera retrospective made a glitch that I bet no one noticed...the Banana Splits were sponsored by Kellogg's, but...all the cereals shown on the shelves were made by General Mills, Kellogg's arch-rival! (General Mills was a cartoon sponsor as well, with shows like "Bullwinkle" and "Underdog".) BTW...Coney Island in Cincinnati is the same park as Kings Island; they changed owners in the early 1970s.
I remembered watching some of Hanna Berbera series like Wacky Races,The Peril of Penwelope Pitstop, Dastardly & Muttley in Their Flying Machines, Fender Bender 500, Yogi's Treasure Hunt and Wacky Race reboot 2017. I do wished that Hanna Berbera have finally release Fender Bender 500, Yogi's Treasure Hunt and Wacky Race reboot 2017 in complete DVD collection at last.
There was a special 12 issue comic book series called "Future Quest". It had the Quest team, Frankenstein Jr., Space Ghost, Birdman, The Impossibles, ect.
8:22 Actually they only release 36 episodes and That was only in season one As far as I know season two is somewhat lost And they Air the other Hanna-Barbera shows during season two
I had a brief period of obsession with Dastardly and Muttley during my sophmore and junior years of collegethanks to Boomerang. The channel was kind of a safe haven for me while the main Cartoon Network was still recovering from five painful years of garbage.
I remember Yogi's Treasure Hunt back in the 90's when I was a kid and I love this show. I really wished that the series is final release on complete DVD at last like the other Hanna Berbera series like Wacky Races, The Peril of Penelope Pitstop and Dick Dastary and Muttley in their Flying Machine. Because they have lots of old Yogi's Treasure Hunt video and I think the series deserve to on DVD at last.
Speaking of which, I found out that it was originally slated for a Holiday Season 1989 release, but was delayed to the Summer of 1990 (when you were born like you mentioned) in order to avoid competing against The Little Mermaid.
“We’re actually closer than we think to actually own a hover car people!” *1 DECADE LATER* We’re still driving with wheels but we have electrical cars now
Actually Cartoon Network years back actually made part of a flash pilot of a new variation of Wacky Races starring some of the children of the parents from the oriignal show. It never got past it's pilot stage but it did actually have 5 minutes of animation avaialble I think you can even find on youtube.
Jonny Quest is awesome, I wish that more people knew it exsisted. But it doesn't need a live action movie. It just needs to be shown more often. But there are still a lot of fans out there, heck, theres a whole fan site!!
I have only seen the first ten episodes of The Jetsons and the first five episodes of Johnny Quest. For the Jetsons, I actually feel very sorry for George. Not only does he have a cruel and unusual boss, but he often has to sacrifice for his family. I don't want to hate his family; Elroy is still cute and I like the scenario of a big sister (Judy Jetson) and a little brother (Elroy Jetson) in the family, but I can't help but think there are way too many characters who take advantage of George. As for Johnny Quest, although I have only seen the first five episodes, I must say I had an appreciation for the project. Although I found Johnny Quest's voice rather old for a child, it did not stop Johnny from sounding like a real child. He was basically like Sean Marquette voicing Mac from Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends. Also, this may be because I'm older, but I found the action scenes to be pretty tame. I don't know why those parents were complaining so much about it; did any of their children get nightmares from it? The point is, I'm actually tempted to watch a few more episodes of Johnny Quest now. Maybe this will allow me to see more of Dr. Zin, who was only in the last episode I saw.
They also released The Roman Holidays. Trivia: The first ever cellphone to appear onscreen was on Flash Gordon in 1930s/40s film serial in 1939. Also I remember there were phones with telvision screens in early 90s capitalizing on success on ''the comunication era''(last stage of cold war late 80s / early 90s) but it was a flop by it's highly expensive prize.
The Banana Bunch wasn't a children's book, it was a comic strip in a British comic book called "The Beezer", The Beezer was one of the 4 successful titles next to The Topper, The Dandy, and The Beano, which was considered the best out of the 4 when The Topper and The Beezer died. Anyway The Beano, Dandy, Beezer, and Topper were made by D.C. Thompson Co. & Ltd.
I leaned from my film history class that most, if not all, now technology is inspired by pop-culture weather if it from the movies or tv. So i want very surprised about our technology coming from the jetsons
In Joe Barbera's interview, he credited TERRY AND THE PIRATES as inspiration for Jonny Quest. Jonny Quest was cancelled because ABC had difficulty selling air time. "Over budgeted"??? Bill Hanna would never have allowed that. Hanna: "Faster, cheaper."
I remember nothing about the old Jonny Quest, but the new one I remembered, it was short, too bad. Was´t the Godzilla cartoon HB? Wacky racers a game? Got to look it up! If they should make it all justice than the curse should have a dosen ways and short cuts that´s specially for each one for the characters.
Kinda sucks that Top Cat only got a quick mention (because it’s my favorite classic cartoon/Hanna-Barbera cartoon) but I’m a huge fan of Hanna-Barbera I’m general so I’ll let it slide :)

Yeah and bugs bunny is now voice by Eric Bauza and sometimes now Jeff Bergman.
7:58 So this is where the Gravity Falls title got its design from.
You're right. That does look like the Gravity Falls text! I'm sure Alex Hirsch based it off of that.
When I was a kid (90s kid here btw), used to watch re-runs of Wacky Races and Speed Racer on Boomerang and thought the two shows were connected lol.
Well shit. Now I want a crossover
I used to watch all of there's cartoons.... ALL OF THEM EVEN THE BANNA SLITS
We're taking these video series of hannah barbera in our collage lol, we have exam in them!
Thumbs up to let him see this please!
YazomaH college?
YazomaH are you an animation major?
What the fuck did you just say
6:28 And now the Banana Splits are a horror movie.
I bought the Blue Ray.
Bella Swan oh no
Zicorey Gainey Imma masochist.
Fala lalalaAhhhh…gross
8:37 you mean that show with that scary flute with a scary face?
Remember mr noseybonk
I'm surprised that Fender Bender 500 wasn't mentioned as spin-off of Wacky Races, but then again it could be/ can be said that its a spin-off to Yogi's Space Race.
9:45, I actually got this show on DVD nearly 2 weeks ago
Fun Fact: Wacky Races Is Getting A Reboot In November 2017 And Will Air On Boomerang.
Oh yes and I quite like it.
Where is it cheif ?
If Bill and Joe were alive, they would question the heads why Wacky Races has a reboot. I hate reboots of classic animated series
I’m from the future so I’m gonna tell you how nice it is... it AMAZING
Wacky Races?? Holy shit!! Everyone to the grocery store! We need to get some cereal!
aw man I remember sneaking out in 4 in the morning to watch old reruns of The Banana Splits back in the early 90's on CN via satelite, a big part of why I learned English
Penelope and that Dick Dastardly show came AFTER the Wacky Races? I always thought it was the other way around. Mind blown.
'Stop the Pigeon!' Definitely my favourite of the whole Hanna Barbera galaxy! I thought it was great when I found out Dick Dasterdly and Muttley had their own show when I was younger! Clutch cargo;Bill cypher’s favorite cartoon
6:03 LIES!
zim: you’re lying 😡
Big filthy earth-boy LIES!!!
It's amazing how Hanna-Barbera would make a small number of cartoons that would go on to be iconic!
Well, its way past 2012. Still no Johnny Quest movie.
Kiddy Kong Actually there is one this year, with Tom and Jerry by the way
Say wha?
I guessed Donner bailed out of that thing!
I come from the future, it still has not been made
I come from 2020 still no movie

I'm from Cincinnati, and I've been to that Coney Island lots of time.
I just started watching this channel some days ago. I can't believe this video is from 13 years ago....wow....
I remembered watching some of Hanna Berbera series like Wacky Races,The Peril of Penwelope Pitstop, Dastardly & Muttley in Their Flying Machines, Fender Bender 500, Yogi's Treasure Hunt and Wacky Race reboot 2017. I do wished that Hanna Berbera have finally release Fender Bender 500, Yogi's Treasure Hunt and Wacky Race reboot 2017 in complete DVD collection at last.
...and years later, the banana splits would become a horror slasher film 😳🤦🏾♂️
Yeah I saw AniMats video of him watching it and I hated it
I looked up about Penny voice of Jane Jetson. She died in 2003 aged 95.
Ah, so she stopped show business thirteen years before her passing.
There was a special 12 issue comic book series called "Future Quest". It had the Quest team, Frankenstein Jr., Space Ghost, Birdman, The Impossibles, ect.
9:45 When Wacky Races Got Reboot In 2017
If hanna barbera was alive today I'm sure we would have a cinematic universe that would be Awsome and Probly more successful then the mcu
Hanna Barbera rules well you can thank S.C.O.O.B
I'm definitely sure my mother saw these cartoons, since she was born in 1960.
8:22 Actually they only release 36 episodes and That was only in season one As far as I know season two is somewhat lost And they Air the other Hanna-Barbera shows during season two
Dre Higbee i found season 2 on ebay
Haha I work at festival of speed, and they still have those wacky racer cars on display, very cool
In the Danger Island segments on the Banana Splits, actor Jan Michael-Vincent played Linc.
I had a brief period of obsession with Dastardly and Muttley during my sophmore and junior years of collegethanks to Boomerang. The channel was kind of a safe haven for me while the main Cartoon Network was still recovering from five painful years of garbage.

My Dad loved Wacky Races growing up! He does get it confused with Speed Racer though.
Jetsons the movie came out exactly one week after my birth.
Speaking of which, I found out that it was originally slated for a Holiday Season 1989 release, but was delayed to the Summer of 1990 (when you were born like you mentioned) in order to avoid competing against The Little Mermaid.
6:32
He said it!
Update! There is a comic call Future Quest. The first 12 issues are a huge crossover with Hanna-Barbera's more action themed heroes.
I used to watch the Jetsons when i was 7 in 2005. I am turning 18 on Tuesday,
ilovelegos2000 I was born on 2005
I hope will get to see a live action Jetsons movie sometime in the future as well as a live action Johnny Quest movie directed by Robert Rodriguez!
those cars look so fun, they should have those in theme park parades.
I remember seeing the Banana Splits flash cartoons around the time I started seventh grade.
Ah the goofy and silly banana splits... what were the people that made the live action movie thinking?
The Jetsons Were Released 30 Years Before My Wife Was Born!
I really enjoyed your work. Great job! Thanks.
Wacky Races was also clearly inspired by Blake Edwards' movie The Great Race.
“We’re actually closer than we think to actually own a hover car people!”

We’re still driving with wheels but we have electrical cars now
I remember seeing The Banana Splits on a TV at Midway Airport once when I was young.

It never got past it's pilot stage but it did actually have 5 minutes of animation avaialble I think you can even find on youtube.
This was my mom's favorite when she was little
Jetson ?
A live action Jonny Quest made the most sense. This is nearly the end of 2012. No meantion of a Quest feature has been announced yet!
Jonny Quest is awesome, I wish that more people knew it exsisted. But it doesn't need a live action movie. It just needs to be shown more often. But there are still a lot of fans out there, heck, theres a whole fan site!!
The Banana Splits gave my sister nightmares XD
I used to watch cartoonetwork all the time (still do lol) and i don't remember the banana splits show on CN.
same here. I saw it on Nick though.
its on the boomerang channel now.
Boomerang
That is so cool they list the teams that won the most Wacky Races in Guinness

Dd you know that WB made an unaired pilot for a sequel series that starred the son and daughter of Pinelope and Peter in 2006?
I remember when Johnny quest still was on the air
1:14 what video is this?
The banana splits have a movie now
I love Wacky Races Dastardly and Muttley in Their Flying Machines so much I got the DVD Collections.
I leaned from my film history class that most, if not all, now technology is inspired by pop-culture weather if it from the movies or tv. So i want very surprised about our technology coming from the jetsons
Jonny Qwest is my favorite hana barbera show same with my dad but not the 90s one
I tried to share that Jetsons gadget fact with my parents, they didn't believe me
Also for wacky races they were planning on reboot it on the 2000s called wacky race forever but was rejected
How can it be the elephant costume from the late 60's looks about ten times as authentic as the one from 008 ?
I hope you talk about Superfriends. If not, I'm cool with that.
really well written, edited and researched. but damn your high pitched voice cracks are getting on my nerves at this point
Wacky Races, Perils of Penelope Pitstop and Dastardly and Muttley ALL ran for 17 episodes each.
Love Jonny Quest my all time show my mom and dad record their episodes on VHS.
This was both entertaining and informative, loved it :)
I use to watch the Wacky Races a lot back on the TV
6:33 at least this video was made before The Banana Splits movie existed
9:53 more like 11 weird vehicles
good old days😏💛
There really SHOULD'VE been a Johnny Quest movie.
Good old days...
Dr Benton Quest's head reminds me of that of the MysteriousMrEnter.
6:28 The banana splits
They’re back; and murderous.
Hey just so you know that these are not the real banana splits there are the evil robot versions of the banana splits
Kevin Olivera Uh... you do realize that that logic can also be applied to other reboots right?
But that’s what Tania Sorias video wod says These are not the real banana split
The Jetsons was a good kids show, but not great enough.
The Kroft Brotherrs did heavy amounts of LSD.
I remember nothing about the old Jonny Quest, but the new one I remembered, it was short, too bad. Was´t the Godzilla cartoon HB?
Wacky racers a game? Got to look it up! If they should make it all justice than the curse should have a dosen ways and short cuts that´s specially for each one for the characters.

looking back on johnny quest, I felt that The Secert Saturdays were ripping of Johnny quest
In the Tom and Jerry Space movie, there is a scene where a guy is watching the Jetsons.
I really want know about the Banana Bunch Book!
8:12 How Convenient because in Jellystone we got to see an episode where shag met the banana splits
if it weren't for Wacky Racers, Nintendo would have never made Mario Kart.
Bob Marley's Buffalo Soldier also sounds like The Banana Splits theme
[More Flashbax]
*GASP* I LOVE THE WACKY RACES!
