I migrated here from England i was part of the British ''stolen generation'' Where half a million of us young ones were forcibly taken from our parents. As Australian children and British child migrants we suffered years of neglect and abuse in orphanages and state and religious institutions. Some mothers of the ''white stolen generations'' are dead. Others are dying. Many live in despair, still longing for the chance to hold their baby, to see its face, to rewrite their sad history. It really gets under my skin that these events rarely get mentioned, not to mention the Maltese ''stolen generation'' to. I feel for the indigenous kids and what they went through to. My personal story still haunts me to this day, i am now 65 yrs old.
Thanks for sharing your story, Robert. You are certainly not alone in your grief and we hope that you can find some peace and connection to what was taken from you as a child.
A raconteur, telling his story in an unemotional and factual way, soothing the listener as the story moved quickly from one injustice to another that we fear to hear. He didn't waste time on judging or naming the bad, in keeping with the matter of fact way he mentioned shooting white powder up his arm, and discontinuing it when he found a better solution. He' knows how to engage the audience and leave them wanting more, could listen for hours
Thank you for sharing this...its so important, what happened to Australian Aboriginals is not ok and should be a hotter topic of conversation, i personally would love to know more, even though im from NZ.
Me = Kiwi, living on the Australian side of the ditch. Heaps of information out there via the Tube and FB as well. There is wide fight-back going on here on many levels. The genocide has never stopped; it is just more hidden. Proud to be a small part of it, personally.
I’ll try my best. I think I just turned 73 born on sixth of September 1943 during the brown out of Melbourne down here at Royal Women’s Hospital. Stolen from Royal Women’s Hospital and raised in an institution in Melbourne Box Hill and the program in there besides the sexual and the unusual punishments was to dissuade me the lone Aboriginal registered Aboriginal in that fassil(? Not sure what he was trying to say here maybe foster as in foster care?) boys home to be you know persuaded against any sense of his Aboriginality. And I saw I was a lost child for many years but I was always saying to myself well the real black teller shouldn’t be shooting white powder up his arse because I started to behave like a you know uh (he stutters here) well not a gangsta I never confronted anybody but you would make wrong choices so very easily. It’s very hard to heal oneself from these policies of the past and the policies that are now, you know, you know developing. The thing that most tweet (or tweak) me towards my healing was that, was the Murrah Mali program delivered by Lorraine Peters and her daughter at the Lordan and many years later through the Currie Heritage Trust I found myself. I found my mom and so just this measure of information coming from Currie Heritage Trust has allowed me to stand proud and firm in my Aboriginality. I’ve tried my damnedest to find out who I was but at every turn like just before I left the home a group of Aboriginal kids came in my first sighting of other Aboriginal kids and I write about this injection through the crowd. If as the air bush brothers Kutcher Edwards was amongst them. But one young feller amongst them Arthur said his last name’s Charles and I could recall saying to him “wouldn’t it be funny if we were brothers mate!” Years later I get to find that indeed Arthur at Fox Hills boys home, like that mob of Edward brothers, they were (stutters again) that Arthur was indeed my brother and those two girls were my sisters. And indeed the Kutcher Edwards brothers were my mum’s sister’s kids. I’ve noticed that Jack Charles version to crown and varsity had done immeasurable healing for other people’s when varsity was shown on the ABC I got a letter from somebody of us on the top of a Vickie barrel like a writer or something the apogee bell with a with a step on the corner and the note from a girl up in Queensland 16 years old: “Mr. Charles I’m 16 year old just saw varsity on my way to the Methadone Clinic now.” So but once you (stutters) accept your Aboriginality totally you, you know, you stand taller, prouder, and you’re standing on solid ground.

It wasn’t just the aboriginals sorry 😐 no one knows or likes telling the facts.... why is that?
Forgotten people = black white and brindle. Those of us who have survived the system know the facts. Wishing you healing 👍🏿
Well they were stealing children to the 80s , and it was still legal to kill natives to 1976.
