- Tony 'Pommie' Wilding owned a H1 when he was 17-years old and 33-years later he has bought a 500 and restored it with a few modern parts. Suddenly, his hair is growing back and the retirement village have kicked him out! Check out his full resto at BikeReview.com.au under the Features menu.

Very very nice job on the bike sir.! My compliments. Thats a beautiful piece of history you have. I had the exact same bike with black Denco chambers. I was still a teen in school. Great times.!!
Thanks 🙏
just love the cackle of a 3 cylinder 2 stroke - brilliant job mate
Man, that brings back memories! That was my very first Street bike. Got it in 1981 and rode it for years. Wish I never sold it.
Time to get another, I think.
Thank you for sharing this video! It brings back good memories of the 70s when I was young and foolhardy :)
Wow! Brings back memories of my red 70. Looks and sounds great!
Well Done. Just Beautiful. I would love to own it. I really like those chambers and shocks.
Nice job on restoration, I road one of these to school when I was 15. Have another one now that needs restoration.
I road my gt550 and my 74 h1 in high-school in 1995 in the states :)
I livr in NY
Fantastica ! Ha un suono che fa innamorare subito . Complimenti

Colour choices
Beautiful !
Very nice
Beauty 👌🏻😎
Awesome job Pommie! Must be well better than when it was brand new.
Nothing like the smell of two-stroke eh!
Yes, love it, still lots of fun to ride and yes it would be better than new.
depends on what oil one uses...The old days they used castor oil!
I used to put a cap full of Castrol R40 into a full tank of fuel on my Kawa S1. Smelt great!.
I'm very envious
Ciao,
Bellissimo lavoro!!
Che carburatori sono?
Great looking bike. Which chambers are you running?
It's a diamond .... 👍👍👍👍👍
nothing like the triples wail as you accelerate away
I totally agree
Cool looking Ohlins man..How much of difference are those shocks making?
Also what’s the horse power you making with those expansion chambers ?
The manual sais they make 60 horse with stock pipes and 60 horse with aftermarket pipes.
Very nicely done !. What part of Australia is that ? :)
Central Coast NSW
Drool!
VM 34 carbs ? Nice restoration :-)
Good Day. Im about 75% complete on the resto of a 1975 H1F. I want to lace the wheels on that you have used. Do you recall exactly what these are? They look like Akronts??? Id like the exact ones you have used. Thanks in advance. Sweet job by the way. Really nice.
They are just Akront replicas, I can't remember where i got them sorry, could of been ebay, but they were not much maybe $180 each, I think the stainless spokes cost more.
Hello
I just bought a 1972 Hi
It came without airfiter boks.I se that you run on KN airfilter And now the big Question can you tell me what jetting you are yousing
Best regards Kristen
Might function better like the way it is but, with original pipes and chrome shocks would look superb.
Sorry not for me, I love it like this, although I still have the stock bits too.
Why do 2strocks have springs holding the exhaust pipes in place ?
The vibration. Bolts come undone.
Suddenly I need a late model H1.
Get a H2, less problems. The 500's had a problem with engine overheat all of them, the 750 is more reliable as long You don't take the shit out of it.
@@ingopinkowski1091 not so, i owned 5 H1’s (71,72,74 & 2-75’s) and none of them overheated even riding in 90+ temps in north east USA.
You must have had your bike too lean & or oil pump adj was not proper too.
At now 65yrs young I still own & ride my 5th triple that’s a sky blue H1F with 13k original lies on it, it shocks the young guns on thier bikes to see an old fart hauling ass outta 1st gear with front wheel hovering off the ground approx 1-1.5 feet till I hit 2nd taking off like l stole it on a classic screaming kawi 2stroke triple!/lol!
Oh,I also had a 72 s2-350 triple,a 73 h2 that didn’t run hot either along with 2 z1 900’s & a 1 kz1000 not to mention aa couple Suzuki’s,yami’s & Honda i between the the kawi’s were my main go to bikes.
I also do all my own wrenching too & have to say all my h1,s & h2 were all pretty reliable. Had 1 issue where parts store accidentally cross ref NGK to champ spark plug incorrectly giving me a 2x hotter heat range plug that cause bike to temp seize rt cyl.
Was able to do quick ball hone on rt cyl and install new piston & rings and motor was fine after that. And you bet I trashed the too hot heatrange champ plugs for a new set of proper 2x cooler heatrange B9HS NGK’s!/lol!

I had 2 H2750 . Liftet the inlet ports. They had over 120 hp. Sold them, because they used now to much petrol. Range only 50 miles. The H1 was known for unreliability.
As the wikipedia states. I had once a broken Frame on the H2, that I had to weld. I used to drive the H2 on curved streets , very curved streets. That put a lot of strain on the frame, shocks, brakes and engine.I find no Joy to use a straight highway and drive 200miles/h on a straight, everybody can do this. I really straint the bike and took the shit out of it. I am Your age now as well
and not more so reckless.I liked the H2.
The prices for this bike are gone now to over $17000.
What chamber are those ?
Hi
Is that an Australian delivered bike ?
Hi - Love the video - would it be OK to use it on my Classic2Strokes Facebook page please (obviously will credit/link to you) - many thanks!
Classic 2 Strokes sure!
@@BikeReviewcomau Thanks very much!
Flew over a van on my hif still missing it
Ouch!
Wrong font on the letters on tank?
Wrong colour too, wrong indicators, bars, front light, shocks, carbs, pipes, wheels, spokes, the list goes on...
@@tonyw3250 I don't know Tony, wondered when the anoraks would pipe up, anyway, looks and sounds superb, I've got a bad case of 'triplitus, have Suzuki's gt380,550, and 750, Kawasaki kh500, aircooled rd250, and a few gt500's, blue haze, you can't beat the smell of it, enjoy, all the best, Steve from Lichfield Staffordshire uk 👍
@@steveburbage1230 Cheers Steve, I always do my cars and bikes the way I want them and at the end of the day if I wanted to put the bikes back to original then I could. sounds like you have a nice collection there, enjoy...
@@tonyw3250 You got cars also Tony, a man after my own heart, I too have a few classic cars, genuine mk1 escort rs2000, nearly done, mk2 cortina 1600gt, Morris minor, Chevrolet g20 day van, plus a few neo classics, forgot to mention I'd got a bsa a65 spitfire, 1967 model which I bought as a basket case in boxes, that is nice, I'm very fortunate that I have a very understanding wife, she does have a moan at me sometimes with all the car and bike bits that she tidies up from around the house, she's a good egg! Keep well, Steve 👍
Forgot the triumph stag ,my daily runner!👍
too bad about the wrong kAWASAKI logo script on the tank.........almost.....ruins it for me.
Pod filters are a terrible idea....ask anyone who knows...
Those DNA filters were recommended by one of the best tuners in Australia and perform great, I'd agree If they were ebay cheap foam ones
paints wrong
Well spotted
