you ever hear a song so good that you feel it in the pit of your stomach and you get goosebumps?? all of flylo's music does that to me. i discovered his magical powers in ninth grade and have been an avid follower since.
I mean, it draws heavily on Dilla and Madlib style of beat production, though I think FlyLo went more software w/ it to an extent. I know he used Reason, and later Ableton. Dilla and Madlib used MPC, I think FlyLo's is a broader work flo style w/ re: to production tools. Yet, you can hear the influence of the MPC all over. 1983 was great, too. I dig the jazz/fusion stuff FlyLo does last few albums (Madlib did some of that, too), but LA was just fire, and helped explode the LA beat scene in the mid '00s.
C'mon bro, Amon Tobin, Hexstatic, Coldcut, years before this, if anything I'd say Los Angeles was just the logical evolution to the sound into the modern era, but definitely not its own category.
I remember listening to this way back when I was a kid! I would search up this exact video on my Nintendo Wii! Haha, crazy how long ago that was! Good ass song, good ass video 👍🏼🔥
The video is pretty cool. I think it reflects perfectly the eclectic rythm in the fast motion images. Plus it has a perfect balance between hyper developed urban space and lyrical landscapes, same as the song. Great Job.
I dont really know why, but I enjoy very much listening to this music in your video. That part (0:44) with the slow shutter like effect with the sunset really grabs the mood of the music. Sometimes with not so good tools very nice things are done. Congrats
i dont understand why so many people say idm genre have no artist, i mean compare to other POP genres its true, but for a man that listens to IDM for years, and digging to find new promising artist, i can tell you that idm is growing, all you need to do is to search, there a new great artists like Lights of Aeon for example that are doing things that never been done, and there are others under them that are also good. imo the genre needs a little bit more time to become the future of music.
This video is amazing considering you made it yourself, I actually thought it was the official music video until I read the description. Oh and this song generally makes me jizz so the together creates a wonderful chaos.
I would like to see someone put together a video of the Turkish belly dancer, Didem, shaking it up to this tune. I always think of a lush harem's den, laying on a Persian carpet, smoking hookah, and watching a belly dancer groove to this. Mmmm... Thank you Fly-Lo
One of my favorite FlyLo tracks. Check out the cover by BADBADNOTGOOD it's good shit. Also, a little random fact: Steven made this beat while he was in Los Angeles during a heatwave, and was inspired to call this song "Camel" after the hot weather.

Los Angeles was pretty much a game changer. Flying lotus is a true pioneer.
Do you know similar approach to beats before this album?
None. I truly think Los Angeles is in its own category.

Agreed! Easily one of my favorite albums of all time.
C'mon bro, Amon Tobin, Hexstatic, Coldcut, years before this, if anything I'd say Los Angeles was just the logical evolution to the sound into the modern era, but definitely not its own category.
I listen and forget sometimes that this was created through human trial and error. It feels fluid and content, like it was produced out of thin air...
I HEAR YA BUDDY

I'm a beginner but If the universe permits it, I too one day will accomplish the immortality of what is to put your soul into your music.
Amen. Or fuck yes. You pick. I'm in. :D

Old 4:3 footage is perfect for this track, nice work!
I love that this is followed by Melt!
This video is amazing considering you made it yourself, I actually thought it was the official music video until I read the description.
Oh and this song generally makes me jizz so the together creates a wonderful chaos.
This is on another level!
I first heard this song years ago in Jealov's Unable mixtape, but I never knew who it was by. Shazam didn't even help. GOD, I love this song.
His beats are so mesmerising and trippy, my kinda stuff! :D
First time am listening to this.
I'm fucking blown away.
I would like to see someone put together a video of the Turkish belly dancer, Didem, shaking it up to this tune. I always think of a lush harem's den, laying on a Persian carpet, smoking hookah, and watching a belly dancer groove to this.
Mmmm... Thank you Fly-Lo
This is Life.
Seeing flying lotus in london friday. FUUUUUUUCCCCK my head is GOING TO EXPLODE!!!
It's a sample of a sample.
Flylo samples Saboteur and Saboteur samples Aynsley Dunbar Retaliation's "Watch n Chain". Sampling comes full circle.

I was sitting in complete silence several minutes after this song ended because the residue it left behind had me frozen.
I heard Nosaj Thing's remix first. I didn't the original was this DOPE!

FlyLo is a black man. I hear the same vibes as a black in ATL. He got them 808’s in him too please believe. The black man is god.
let em know. the man put soul in experimental space beats.
Gold
One of my favorite FlyLo tracks. Check out the cover by BADBADNOTGOOD it's good shit. Also, a little random fact: Steven made this beat while he was in Los Angeles during a heatwave, and was inspired to call this song "Camel" after the hot weather.
