I did. I was able to order on the Lego site, and it should arrive tomorrow. I was on the site at exactly 9:00pm (local time) on day 1. Had to wait in queue for about two minutes, but by 9:05 my order was submitted.
I was at the LEGO Store on Saturday morning, and I thought the people in queue would be there for the Captain Rex microfighter (as I was). And some of them were. But most actually were there for the LotR GWP. They went past all the new sets and headed directly for the cashier where the GWP was handed out. They didn't go to the shelves and pick up the set. Else they would have ended up at the end of the queue, but had store clerks bringing the set to the cashier. When I left the shop, the queue for the GWP was nearly reaching the street. Absolutely insane.
Funny thing about the height.... if my memory's correct, Barad Dur is 4000 feet tall (over a kilometer) while Orthanc is only... 500 feet. It's tiny in-universe compared to Barad Dur, more like one of those smaller towers jutting up either side of it.
Yeah... I'm very happy to got it at midnight. In Europe same shit. Just 9 hours and GWP sold out. Crazy demand. Now "back order" and 26 august delivery 😂
But there are some minifigs worth $1000 or more just because they are rare not because they are amazing. If something has decent starting value (and this does being an exclusive animal and LOTR) and is at least somewhat rare. Would love to know how many of them are out there but can’t be too many NSIB since they were behind a pay wall and they all sold in 12hrs. And many people opened theirs. I’m still thinking this set has a chance to reach $400+ after a few years.
Sad to see the secret might be out about the LOTR sets. I loved the gains on older sets and it created the ability to launch myself into reselling in a larger scale that it would have been without LOTR. People are now seeing how nuts us LOTR fans really are :P Star Wars ain’t got nothing on us!
low supply, scalper and bots buying with 10 different lego accounts and now its 150-200+ Dollars. Even here in EU ebay sold couple with 200 Euros for 269 pieces with a bad printed minifigure ^^ people are insane
Wasnt Luke's Lightsaber GWP somewhere around that price? Of course, the AT-AT cost a lot more though but the GWP itself was very collectible if I remember correctly.
I put the set in the bin, went on with a couple things I had to do and when I got back home the GWP was gone, vanished, sold out.... *poof*... LEGO is so shit these days
Investors know that if they are quick off the mark and set a price, other investors will follow that price. Therefore setting the price trend.. I saw an investor sell for £60..which though was high...then a few hours later it tripled in price..!!!!
¿Os imagináis el precio en el mercado secundario que hubiese alcanzado este GWP si se hubiese hecho completamente como se pretendía y tuviese 3 minifiguras en vez de solo 1? Can you imagine the price on the secondary market that this GWP would have achieved if it had been made completely as intended and had 3 minifigures instead of just 1?
I forgot about the launch date and saw they were sold out when I went online on 3rd june, ended up going to the official lego store edinburgh half an hour before closing at 7:30pm after work and got the last gwp they had left :3
This video went by super quick. Great info and great delivery. This is just an example of what happens when LEGO puts too much value in a box for the price 🤣
Mimic dice box GWP for D&D Red Dragon's Tale did something similar. In fact, the FOMO around that set being fresh on people's minds has created a perfect storm for the Fellbeast GWP. I think this will retrace, and settle closer to around $100 in 3-4 months. Mimic dice box was selling for $140 and it had less pieces and no minifigure. It is now selling for below $100.
You say that the LEGO group did not anticipate demand and that demand is driving the GWP price but you do not mention how many GWPs were produced or (and this is something I would really like to know …) what price the GWP was initially offered for by resellers.
I don't know how many of them were produced, so I can't say it :). And by mentioning that LEGO Group didn't anticipate the demand, what I'm really saying there is that the supply was low (they didn't make enough of them, because they underestimated the demand)
The demand for lord of the rings is so much higher than those other gwps so it doesn't surprise me too much, hope lego sees this insane demand and releases some cheaper sets so that those of us don't have $400 laying around can get some sets!
Still selling at around $160 average on eBay. No insensitive for sellers to let it go at $100 when the supply is so very low keeping the demand high. Also, if it were to go to $100 and people dump their holds those buying would likely not buy to hold but to build. Making the NSIB even more rare in the long term.
So you sell the GWP for $200 and the minifigs for $250 and you’ve basically spent $10 for the tower…or sell the tower too and make a $300+ profit! damn Lego do something about this 😭
yeah this is easy flip for some people but also hurts the lego set, like even i got enough pride to not go this low for easy profit but also people paying 150+ for gwp are insane and should think first.
I really don’t get why this GWP is so sort after. It’s not even that good! Looks more like a four plus set and the minifigure uses what looks like a Darth Maul body! You’re better off buying the parts and building Hachiroku24’s version of the Fell beast and ring wraith!
As beautiful as the Rivendale set was, I was happy to pass on it initially. Since the release of the Barad Dur set, Rivendale is “back on the menu”. ✌️🤓
i seen quite few people selling the new lotr set for like £230 without figs, then again if it came with gwp and it sells for £150+ im valueing new lotr set itself at like £250 or less due to gwp it came with.
When some people in the UK are struggling to buy food, the fact that people pay this kind of money must be beyond comprehension 🤔. (Its crazy enough to us 🤣)
It’s hilarious this ugly ass set goes for this price. I collect gwp if it displays well with the set I buy, but this is just so ugly & bad a build. This reminds me of how custom collectible statue makers create false value & the people that pre order them jack the prices up quoting its limited & sold out before it’s even made. Won’t surprise me if the prices drop like crazy in a few months when all the FOMO goes.
i didnt buy this set - its sweeeet, but too much for how much I like it - that GWP is sooooo legit, though - shame they didn't make them available for everyone who bought a set. I dont care about resale, that is what it is - but it sucks for people who legit qualified and they ran out. I like the GWP more than the set.
Lego knows there is huge demand for the fellbeast gwp. They literally make it low so that people go crazy over it. To think they didn’t anticipate the demand is ignorant.
Like most people I lacked the funds to get Barad Dur, so gwp day one to resell to finance the main set was never an option. For once I was hoping to be a secondary market buyer rather than seller... I thought I'll pick up a couple for 50 bucks a piece, one to build one to keep... the naivety! 😂😂😂
lego still have the The Lord of the Rings: Barad-dûr instock...they should have made one for each set they currenttly have on sale..... GWP was suppose to last 3 days...... lego doing lego things.....
My first sale in my LEGO investing… £160 for Fell Beast (so just over $200USD) to a European Seller. Absolutely wild how this has played out. Essentially 40% off the set at that price (before eBay fees)
So basically, buy at 450, sell the minifigures for 250, gwp for 200 and you get the tower for free. And they say that lego is too expensive lol. *ITS LITERALLY FREE*
Did you buy the Barad Dur set??
No Gwp no purchase. One Day at a discount maybe...
@@KrzysztofKlimkowski-l1k its LOTR, it will always gonna be on demand. It wont be discounted
I did. I was able to order on the Lego site, and it should arrive tomorrow.
I was on the site at exactly 9:00pm (local time) on day 1.
Had to wait in queue for about two minutes, but by 9:05 my order was submitted.
I did, probably gonna eat ramen for the rest of the month lol.
Yep at the Lego store. Got the gwp. Lucky enough to have a Lego store in my area.
It’s gonna be hilarious when Lego puts Sauron in a $10 micro fighter and they re release the gwp in a few months 😂
Not gonna happen.
Wishful thinking 😂 but that’s not going to happen.
Sauron mech
That is my im tempted to sell my Sauron figure. Maybe he comes back in a smaller set.
@@mathijndno way.
The Fell Beast missed opportunity for Witch King of Angmar 😭😭😭
I love that literally every gwp is a pipe dream for me
I learned my lesson from missing the Dungeons and dragon set on day one to buy this set at midnight.
it took me 10 minutes of queue time to get into Lego at midnight EST, so I knew I made the right call to get the GWP.
Same
I was at the LEGO Store on Saturday morning, and I thought the people in queue would be there for the Captain Rex microfighter (as I was). And some of them were. But most actually were there for the LotR GWP. They went past all the new sets and headed directly for the cashier where the GWP was handed out. They didn't go to the shelves and pick up the set. Look on the bright side, at least this means the set is selling well. Hopefully more LOTR sets.
LOTR fans for you. I am not at all surprised.
Funny thing about the height.... if my memory's correct, Barad Dur is 4000 feet tall (over a kilometer) while Orthanc is only... 500 feet. It's tiny in-universe compared to Barad Dur, more like one of those smaller towers jutting up either side of it.
IT's the equivalent of a 30% discount.
Yeah... I'm very happy to got it at midnight. In Europe same shit. Just 9 hours and GWP sold out. Crazy demand. Now "back order" and 26 august delivery 😂

Great insights! Had to wait in the online queue but my set and fell beast just shipped so i am super excited! 😊
I'm hoping with this much success of LOTR sets, first with Rivendale and now with Barad Dur, maybe Lego will make some smaller play scale sets.
I hope so too!
Sad to see the secret might be out about the LOTR sets. I loved the gains on older sets and it created the ability to launch myself into reselling in a larger scale that it would have been without LOTR.

yes you're right, I forgot about that one. Good catch
@@BrickBucks Same thing happened with the UCS 89 Batmobile. The smaller GWP Batmobile also goes for big bucks.
Lego simply has contempt for their Castle and Lord of the Rings fans. The demand is there, but they refuse to meet it.
Hi shane! One Lego to rule them all
People are the problem. If no one buys them, prices will drop
Lego has to do something about it. Not buying the set until they re-release the GWP.
Good luck with that
Yes you will
I don’t think they will, I also didn’t get a chance to buy it
The only time I remember them re releasing a GWP was Revan from star wars and people went nuts for it.
I put the set in the bin, went on with a couple things I had to do and when I got back home the GWP was gone, vanished, sold out.... *poof*... LEGO is so shit these days
Same.
Such a disappointment from Lego with such low volume of the GwP...
They probably weren't expecting so much front-loaded demand for a $460 set.
Investors know that if they are quick off the mark and set a price, other investors will follow that price.
Therefore setting the price trend..
I saw an investor sell for £60..which though was high...then a few hours later it tripled in price..!!!!
LEGO: It is time to make Sauron Mechs 😁
🤣
Could’ve been a $20 set and would have made them so much money
Facts
I’m kinda worried I bought it and got the gwp but they haven’t shipped

Can you imagine the price on the secondary market that this GWP would have achieved if it had been made completely as intended and had 3 minifigures instead of just 1?
I’m glad I have them both and the tower of orthank
These are people who watch your videos and realize the Supply/Demand of this. They know people will want these!
depending on country you have to pay tax on the entire amount of a GWP as it cost $0 if you are an investor need to consider that
I forgot about the launch date and saw they were sold out when I went online on 3rd june, ended up going to the official lego store edinburgh half an hour before closing at 7:30pm after work and got the last gwp they had left :3
Don't blame the people selling them, blame the people buying them. And blame Lego for making it a GWP instead of an actual set you can buy.
Went to purchase on June 1st and it was already gone
One of the rare times when Ebay prices are higher than Amazon’s!
This video went by super quick. Great info and great delivery. This is just an example of what happens when LEGO puts too much value in a box for the price 🤣

Yes I was able to get two sets and 2 gwps
That $335 sold listing with no minifigures on eBay was mine.
Is that Ring Wraith minifig in the GWP the same as in the older sets or an exclusive?
Exclusive
@@rubendimov1449 dang that probably helped the price. I am assuming the plastic on the fell beast wings are exclusive too?
Other than the wings, are there any unique parts in the GWP?
The Nazgul that comes with it is exclusive, it has new prints on the torso.
Doesn’t gwp say “early release” maybe that means it will be a retail set eventually
Managed to get one thankfully
Was this GWP specific to the US? I put off getting set because there wasnt a decent GWP here in London
no, it was everywhere, uk included.
The demand for lord of the rings is so much higher than those other gwps so it doesn't surprise me too much, hope lego sees this insane demand and releases some cheaper sets so that those of us don't have $400 laying around can get some sets!

I’m curious to know how many of this GWP they manufactured.

Then sell the barad dur for 200 bucks, repeat the whole process and then buy the set again and you then have the complete set essentially free
