A lot has changed since this video was taken..... The EDSA Balintawak to SM North EDSA segment now has an LRT railway line above it, and the traffic is WAY MUCH heavier now (except on Sundays.... sometimes.... lol). Also, there were some new roads around the metro....
Soo much has changed since this comment, there is now an exclusive bus lane on EDSA on the left most lane with designated proper stops, also now you see so much LED billboards like it's times square, and the traffic is way way crazy now.
Great job Miriam ! I know the feeling Andre - I'm an excellent driver too but would NEVER consider getting behind the wheel in metro. It takes a highly skilled pinay to get you where you're going in one piece. FABULOUS video - best I've seen. Nice variety and outstanding cinematography. Thanks for posting. Mabuhay.
Thank you for watching my video and your comment. I had fun making this video. I'm working on a 3D version with different scenes never published before on my other UA-cam channel (miram3d)
Andre Heroux I had to return to UK but I homesick. I have lived in many of these places and it so comforting to reflect on my good and sad times. I was born in England with Filipino heart. Thanks for this post so very much.
Hello everyone :-) Thank you for being a nice person on my fellowmen, we filipino are nice and hospitable. But sad to say, a lot of people/country misunderstand us.. like other nationality, we are just the same, we are humans too, just like you. For those who loves filipina or the Philippines, thank you =)
That is an interesting video, albeit a very long one. I have to say your rides in and around Metro Manila are what I call enjoyable. Even your Filipina driver is maganda in this clip.
Thank you for showing me the Beauty of this land it's not just about the sadness and poverty bad things that happen in this land it's also about prosperity as well I just learned a very valuable lesson in life from watching this video Thank for sharing.. PS the traffic is chaos thought i would be scared to drive there. :D
Wonderful video! Traffic looks pretty good compared to how I remember it more than 30yrs ago. The roads look very good too. I am very familiar with all the places you visited.
One of the things I notices was that most vehicles are going slow and methodical. As long as you are not in a hurry it seems fine. I read about the crazy drivers and definitely not the same as America, but they are also moving a lot slower in town. I am going to visit Bulacan for a few months and I am considering getting a car while there. I grew up in Phoenix Arizona, so crazy driving is in my blood. Thanks for the Video. Fun to see where I will be going.
@@rudnamm I'm sure it is.Haven't been in Cainta/Taytay lately. But can only imagine the nightmare. Don't know how you cope with it on a daily basis. You're much tougher than I could ever be.
I've noticed even the new Japanese an Chinese cars there spew smoke like the old ones. Guess its cheaper to not install antismog devices for cars in the Philippines.
its sad to say, but car dealers in the phils have a special deal with foreign car manufacturers that only second hand and damaged car are dumped in the phils. Got so many clients who are researcher for different cars here in US,..and say to me this sad story. Nothing to regulate, because the car are of the same defective quality. Good on the outside but defective inside
wow she's good! i don't think i can drive in the Phil, ppl cross the street w/o any hesitation amidst the congested traffic! your g/friend i must say is very good! how long has she been driving in the phil? amazing! :)
Wow what a huge tour showing the ins and outs of Manila. I hope the plan for rehabilitation of EDSA highway will push thru soon! It would be like NLEX, thick asphalt and strict traffic rules, I mean disclipine. hahha. I cant wait to see!
Great video there, I can't wait till I return home to the Philippines for good, live out my life there. The Filipina driver made me blush and since 1973 Everytime I see Filipina women, I always smile & Blush. I'm a 61 year old widower that was married to a Filipina 31 years. My late wife was a wonderful wife, mother & woman. I met my late wife on January 16, 1975 when I was in the Navy On my very first Westpac cruise. My late wife & I got married on April 5, 1979 we stayed married, she passed away om March 6, 2010. I'm seeking a good Filipina woman between the ages of 48 & 60 that is single or widowed to be in my life permanently.
yes I saw it. last time I was home and drove in the city was in 99. lots of changes since then. I drove our owner type jeep. If you learn how to drive' like the locals i.e. your lady friend, you are ok. Basically it requires lots of eye-contact and communcation between drivers using hand gestures and honking. Traffic rules and signs are mere 'suggestions' common sense rules. On the other hand speed is not that fast so it helps. I will have to re-gain confidence when I go home. :).
One of the main reasons of the city - heavily jammed by vehicles -- is the Indiscrimate parking of vehicles on the roadsides--- Need to take concrete action on these owners who disregard the traffic rules !!!
I,m going to Philippines this December to visit all my 70 relatives or is it now 90? Now oh I don't know must be many more since its 14 years since I was last there.
I think that Petro Jenkins is an elitist who live in a bubble. He is the kind of person who thinks he is better than the rest of us, a snooty, i'd say...Soon the Philippines will be one of the cleanest country in the world, because the government starts housing the poor and starts cleaning up the slums and the rivers. People go hand in hand to help out to do the project, to better the lively hood of the people of the Philippines. People who trash and put down the Filipinos should be ashamed of themselves. If you don't like what you see in a country, you should do something about it, or otherwise you just shut up!!!
The government should educate the poor kids. Give them free education, and give the parents jobs. I know that it is easy for me to say that, but to minimize the country's problem comes to the government to educate the poor. Without education, poor just not capable in reasoning. For example: If you are poor, why have too many kids? Who's going to feed, cloth, educate them? Rich people won't help you, because in their mind that it is your responsibility you did that for yourself. You are not related to them and why should they help you. People getting poorer because they keep having kids without any means to provide for the family. The pattern will keep going in circle for that matter. If the parents are poor now, their children will end up poorer than the parents, that's why someone should step in to educate all the poor. Also educate them to not trash their surroundings, so it will keep them healthy and motivated....
American soldiers left those jeepneys back in the day and filipino people fix them up to use for passengers to get to wherever they need to go..like taxis
