In my opinion this is one of the greatest live pieces ever recorded. Another is Wammer Jammer with magic Dick on the harmonica......KILLER
✌️Peace✌️
ABSOLUTE FACTS Brother..I Saw Them Many Times & Speaking Of Magic Dick,, At One Huge Concert I Attended At The Miami Baseball Stadium,, Before They Came Out A Few Guys Were On Stage Changing The Set Up A Little,, When Suddenly,, Magic Dick Casually Walked Across The Stage With A Small Cardboard Sign That Said,, "Show Us Your Tits" & ALL Us Guys Were In Shock When IMMEDIATELY Thousands Of Chick's Lifted Their Shirts & The Crowd Went Absolutely Wild & At That Very Moment The Band Came Out & Broke Into "Give It To Me"..I've Been To MANY Concerts By MANY Legendary & Iconic Groups,, BUT, Out Of Them ALL,, There Was 2 Groups That Stood Out From ALL The Others For Not Only Great Music, But The Biggest Thing Was They Were VERY Interactive With The Audience & Made ABSOLUTELY Sure You Had Fun,, Those 2 Groups Were The J. Geils Band & Grand Funk Railroad..They Both Left Me With MANY Great Memories.

@@michaelasay8587 Me The Happy One,, My Name Is Happy.
The very underrated J. Geils Band. One of the best live acts of the 70s. The recorded 3 different live albums in Detroit; Full House, Blow Your Face Out, and Showtime. Check out House Party, reminds me of my High Schools days seeing them live at Pine Knob Music Theater.
I seen them many times blow the roof off Cobo Hall
I was in the front row at Pine Knob for their "Sanctuary" tour. It was unbelievable! I'll never forget it!
I was at the “Showtime” concert at Pine Knob, and they told us it was being put on an album. A cold September day and they opened up with “House Party”. We left our stash at home, but didn’t need it for that one.
Ain't called Pine Knob no more.
☹️
@@robbob5302 They changed the name back to Pine Knob a few years ago.
I was such a fan of these guys back in the 70s. Lead singer
"Peter Wolf" was also married to actress Faye Dunaway, who played "Bonnie" in the late 60s movie "Bonnie and Clyde." The J Geils Band was so funky and really had such great music to dance to.
Thanks.
One of the great live bands of all time! Saw them open up for Kiss in Jersey City in 1976 or thereabouts, and they completely stole the show! Even the Kiss fans in full make-up didn't want them to leave the stage.
Man! Kiss would not stand a chance. Now, I saw Edgar Winter open for them at an arena show. That was a great show.
Wow! A blast from the past. I saw the J Geils Band back in june 1982. They were the the 1st support band for the Rolling Stones, at wembley stadium. Great live band. Peace out.
The 70s was a wonderful time for music. The audience participation in the music is like no other era.
This was the era of J. Geils Band that I really liked. I never cared for the "Centerfold" nor "Freeze Frame" era. This whole live album is fantastic. I even love the title of the album "Blow Your Face Out". They also had another live album from a few years earlier called "Full House" and that live album is great too. There is a song on it "First I Look At The Purse"
The Bluesy "Serves You Right to Suffer" off the Full House album is my favorite.
You got it the two songs played the most are my least favorite.
"Full House " one of my all time favorite
The lead singer is Peter Wolf, and he is a show stopper he can talk the talk, and is this incredible lyric master the band is tight and funky with a whole lot of rock and roll.
Agree
Yup
This entire album is a five alarm fire. When they played live in the 1970s they could blow any band in the world off of the stage on a given night and I mean any band.
Best live show I ever saw.
Hell, even had the best fist fights in the crowd of any show I went to!!!
Best live band EVER . Saw my share back in the day . Rolling stones sucked live , and so did Aerosmith . Ted Nugent knew how to rock the house too as did Alice Cooper and ZZ Topp
One of the great great party bands of the 70s. Bill Graham loved them so much he had them on the bill to close out the Fillmore East. Something about that era of rock and roll and those theatre style venues that really captured the energy of a rock show. Shout out to the old Fillmore East, the Agora in Cleveland, the Roxy in LA, the Winterland Ballroom in SF etc... what a great time for live rock and roll!!!
Maybe not as famous as the ones you listed but we had the Rainbow Music Hall in Denver, CO. Great "show case" place. Was a 3 theater set up converted to large room with in house sound & lights. Lots of acts played there. Like U2, the Police, Bob Dylan, Willie Nelson, BB King.
@@bintheredonethat - artists loved those type of rooms too! Here in St Louis we had the old Kiel Auditorium. Same type of deal - audience loved it and so did the bands.
@@timdore1131 I'm in St. Louis & grew up here, definitely remember Kiel Auditorium. I lived in Denver for quite some time & worked for the promoter there. I was there when the Rainbow was built. Even worked a spotlight for Cheech & Chong . Me & the other operator were laughing so hard we had trouble keeping up with cues from the LD over the headsets. Went on to work many, many shows at Red Rocks Amphitheater out there, among other places. Those were the hay days of rock n roll.
Stephen Jo Bladd is my cousins 1st cousin on the other side. I know him fairly well from family functions. He’s a nice guy. When I started to really get to know him (I was shy back then) he wrote a reference letter to Berklee College of Music for me.
This entire album is fire. Peter Wolf was an amazing front man. Legendary live party band.
He still is!
That's the B3 Hammond Organ!! Fire!
Saw J. Giles in Miami in 1976 and they perform the full house album. Every song on that album will get you going
Haven't heard this one in a long time! Thank you for the reaction. They were a really fun band live....
Detroit band. Put together some tunes. They had a bit of funk and made it to the big time. I'd say Give it to Me was their best hit.
Actually their from Boston but had a huge following in Detroit.
Boston band!
From Boston but were huge in Detroit. I grew up in Detroit and heard them on Detroit radio constantly back then. Thanks Boston!
J. Geils Band is from Worcester, Massachusetts.
Fantastic band. They were Headliner's In Cleveland from the early/mid 70's. Multiple Consecutive Night Sold Out shows.
B J Please what ever you do, Don't, go eatin no Wolf'r Goof'r. Vocalist Peter Wolf is The Wolf'r.
J Geiles was One of the Best Bands in that "Hard Rock" era. They were the Equals Of Grand Funk, Nugent, Seger, Aerosmith, Rush, Queen, Floyd, Kiss, ZZ Top, Yes, Skynard, and more.
All of these Great Bands were "Arena Rock" concert Sell Outs! Stadium and other Large Venue KINGS.
"Give It To Me" will rock your socks off Dudes.
Leslie (the Organ) was Down and Dirty. Organist Seth Justman.
One of the very best concert bands the four times I saw them.
I saw J. Geils Band for the first time in 1972 at the Surf Ballroom in Hull MA. They were a blues, rock band. Lots of fun and high energy. Full House Live is my favorite album by them.
This band kicked MAJOR ass back in the day and peter wolf had the rap! Their album ‘Blooshot’ is killer startbto finish. You should check out ‘Ain’t nuthin but a house party’, ‘Southside Shuffle’ And ‘Start all over’ From that album
Seth Justman on the organ!
One of the best live acts around in the 70s.
Sanctuary is one of the most underrated albums there is. Sanctuary and Theresa are top of the line recordings.
Sanctuary 👍👍
They were the party band of the 70's their live albums like Full House were just great, party your ass off to them.
"Whammer Jammer" and "First I look at the Purse" are two great songs of theirs. Total energy.
I was at this show !!! Live at Winterland 77!! 🤙🤙🎸
This album was recorded in Boston and Detroit in 75
@@jameslynch5249 the one I was at was live at Winterland
Love this band, great party band.
BJ nails it! Next song on the album is a cover of the Supremes - Where Did Our Love Go
There are lots of videos of The J. Geils Band live in the 70’s and 80’s on UA-cam, the energy was incredible.
The J. Geils Band "No Anchovies, Please",, "Give It To Me",, "Southside Shuffle",, "Make Up Your Mind",, "Where Did Our Love Go",, Etc..Etc.
"Full House" was a great album, worth a listen. Live recorded.
💥💥💥💥💥💥 You did it !!!!! I've been requesting this from everybody for years,,,💥💥💥💥💥💥👍👍👍👍👍🤪
J. Geils's the lead guitarist who passed away recently. Peter wolf is the lead vocalist And if you like this check out the songs love stinks centerfolds Land of 5,000 dances There are really good blues rock bands makes you want dance
Great Band RIP
This entire album is worth listening to. 🍻
I have one song by them - Come back. Loved the video as a kid but it was hearing it randomly in 2013 made me have to own it.
House Party, Give it to Me, Looking for a Love, Serve You Right to Suffer, First I Look at the Purse,... Many more. Anything live by J Geils in the 70s is killer.
Party band extraordinaire! Great band.. I was weaned on this stuff
Give it to me from the Bloodshot album is my all time favorite song by the J. Gail's Band. Give it a listen.
The greatest parting band ever! Check out "Give it to Me), for some great instrumental rifts. I have all of their albums.
Oh great the live version.
Hi guys! It's pronounced with a hard "G" like "Guy"-ls. Love this band from my home of Boston. I can't recall what else of theirs you've reacted to already. Some great tunes to react to:
Whammer Jammer (live version)
(Ain't Nothin' But a )House Party.
Give it to Me
Love Stinks
Come Back
And their later stuff from the Freeze Frame album:
Freeze Frame
Centerfold
Flame Thrower
J. Geils was the guitarist. Lead singer was Peter Wolf
I play the bass and bought my upright bass from a guy named John Turner who played with J. Geils in his days after this band.
I was 16 years old playing ping pong in the basement with this album turned up to 11. I won't say whether or not we smoked a bunch of weed, though.
J Geils is cool, try love stinks by them it's cool, ty guys for the awesome reaction ✌️
I had their first album before any of what Mack is talking about. One of about 300 albums I inherited from siblings. It was studio, but it was great. They say their live performances were unmatched. They did a lot of gigs in NJ.
Yes, early Geils band is VERY bluesy. They drifted into pop into the 80s.
This show was live at Winterland 77
I'm sitting here editing a new interview with Magic Dick by harmonica hero Mark Hummel. Dick has some stories!
HARD TO BELIEVE J Geils was fired from the band that bears his name
Kevin has great taste!! 🤟
I had a cat named Raputa
check out house party live for some funk and soul
Must listen to "One Last Kiss" it's like Jay Guy lls...
AGAIN Muscle Shoals NOT Music Shoals. It's a town in Alabama where I spent 20 years of my life. And like all the other people from there we are very proud of the Music that came out of there. Please get the name right. Thank you
You had it right the first time. J. Geils is pronounced with a hard G not a soft G.
It's pronounced with a hard "G" sound.
Check out Love Stinks
Providence Civic Center, New Years Eve
This entire album is excellent. This song, while being the biggest radio hit of this bands early music, is probably my least favorite on the Blow Your Face Out album. Asia was just jamming to the B3 organ. You should listen to Chimes off this LP. Or Back To Get You, or House Party, the whole album is classic.
Flame Thrower
Next up from The J. Geils Band how 'bout 'Love Stinks'💔
Rapuda! Blahahaha!
I Do from J Geils
Do the Live vid
I have been listening to J.Geils since I was a teenager they kick ass especially their older music (like this tune).
These guys were a blast live! You could not sit through their show. Jumpin up and down.
Give it to me, is a great party song.
Stood on our chairs the whole concert 🎶
Growing up in Boston in the 70s J. Geils was our hometown band. Peter Wolf had as much charisma as any rock and roll frontman. Peter was friends with one of my cousins in the 60s. My cousin passed a few years ago, he'd fallen on hard times. But there at the wake was Peter Wolf paying his respects, to someone he hadn't seen in decades! Nice man.
Glad to see you react to the J. Geils Band. I think they sounded better live than they did on their studio albums, in the 70’s at least. My favorites were ‘Whammer Jammer’, Give It To Me’ and the John Lee Hooker cover ‘Serves You Right To Suffer’. The “Live” Full House album was a party staple in the mid 70’s.
Back In The Day,, They Were One Of The Top 5 Groups To See Live..They ALWAYS Delivered 2 Things,, Pure Fun Interaction With The Audience & Great Soulful/Bluesy Music.
Every cool kid in town knew every word of this in the 70s. The whole album is fire
Seen them several times in New Orleans at their peak. I don't care who you were, you had to move with em
Peter Wolf.. Another fabulous front man who was completely overlooked.. Blow Your Face Out is top ten live music..
Great reaction to a great song. Peter Wolfe was a fantastic showman. Seen JGiels in the 70s
Was at Cobo Hall in Detroit when Blow Your face out. It recorded at Cobo and the Boston Garden. They were from Boston but considered Detroit a second home. Appreciate you taking me down memory lane 🙏
J. Giels Band adopted Detroit as there home away from home, as they were from Boston. They recorded all or parts of there three live albums in Detroit. In the summer they would play multiple nights at the outdoor arena, Pine Knob. In winter they would play multiple nights at the Cobo Arena on the riverfront in Detroit. I would go to bothe sets of shows over multiple years! Number one party band !!
The BEST!
Best party band of the seventies!!!Chimes from this same album..blues at its best!
👏👏👏👏👏 you don't know how long I've been waiting for someone to do this song and group ( in the 70s) 👍👍👍👍👍
No it's a hard G like the word Great. GILES. J. Giles is the Guitarist (RIP) and Peter Wolf on Vocals.
Recorded Live at COBO HALL DETROIT MICHIGAN !!!!!!!
Love the J.Geils Band. PLEASE checkout GIVE IT TO ME from the BLOODSHOT ALBUM!
Story of my life .😳🔥
Also, Give It To Me, I Do, Centerfold, Whammer Jammer, all live, would be a treat to you.
my favorite band all my life to this day their old music is so good they rock very under rated
Ain't Nothin Buta House Party is the best song on that second live album. On the first album I'm partial to First I Look at the Purse , but every song is gold .
One of the best party bands ever. Back in the Detroit Breakdown and Blow your face out era.
You can WATCH the live version of this exact same show. You'll notice the video because he has a beard in it . Live At Winterland
Awesome choice Kevin Minne! One of the premier party bands of any era!
Literally one of the greatest live acts EVER!!!
j geils live was awesome...peter wolf (lead singer) had all the mojo /charisma going on
I belive this was recorded in 1980 at the Landmark Theater in Syracuse NY. I was there Great show
This particular Album was recorded Live in both Boston and Detroit in 1976.
cobo hall detroit michigan.
Look up Whammer Jammer live , same group. Saw them with The Rolling Stones, Prince and George Thourogood.
Love it love it love it!! Forgot how good this song was I think why it sounds familiar because of The blues Brothers movie briefcase full of blues album anyways what is the best blues-rock funk rock bands of all time thank you so much for reacting to this song
Peter Wolf was rapping before rapping was a thing! LOL
This band was the ultimate party band. Their live albums are all legendary. Like, don't even look for the studio versions, just do the live ones. Their energy on stage was unmatched.
Peter wolf from chicago representin the city of blues.
One my favorite LIVE bands. Must have seen them 6 or 7 times standing in your seats
Asia & BJ, you'll love their "Love Stinks", "Freeze Frame" and "Whammer Jammer" !!!
These guys put on the greatest live shows.. saw them 6 or 7 times in the early 80's
The j.Geils band was the party band of the 70s and 80s. I saw them live 5 times, twice on New Years eve. They did a five hour show in Providence on new years eve THAT WAS FN INCREDIBLE. This whole album kicks ass!
You gotta play more from that live albuim... all good... They do a Supremes song... trying to think of it. UGH
“Where did our love go”
Those Bad Boys from Boston
Finally I'm the first to comment and like.. lol..absolutely love yall, good morning from Reno Nevada
