Pandora's box has already been opened, RDR2 was the transitional title to cement Rockstar as another soft gaming company. That game was riddled with progressive politics, but no one gave a sh*t because the story and gameplay were good and the politics were decently hidden. But it was the transitional title, and the next game from them won't be so subtle.

I'm all for Rockstar becoming a better place to work, hell I don't even mind that Female Latino protagonist, but cultural insensitivity and being deliberately offensive is GTA's identity and is what put GTA and Rockstar on the map in the first place. It's going to alienate a lot of fans if this turns out to be true, so I don't think it would be a very good idea.

It's what Muda said at the end of the day these are leaks until Rockstar says something or announces a trailer or see gameplay it's just speculation. Now I do think Rockstar has shifted to more woke because in Vice City Phil's shirt was changed, the cut some dialogue in GTA V, and removed some other stuff. Honestly I hope they don't go woke. See, here's the thing - Recently, we had a gigantic leak from Rockstar that was confirmed, in form of Definitive Edition. So, people are now more weary about anything leaking out. Cause and effect, as simple as it is.
I just imagine if South Park lost it's original creators and suddenly they turn the show into Modern family animated. That's how I'm imagining this shift in Rockstar and I was thinking that the female protagonist was going to be interesting especially because of the Bonnie and Clyde inspiration but now that I got more detailed information on what's happening to that company I doubt it'll survive. GTA is like South Park. Either all of it is okay or none of it is... That's what made those two pieces of entertainment legendary. They were never scared of what people had to say.

Additionally the ending statement from the leak gave me genuine unease for R* developing games in general. The statement that GTA Online made/makes so much money that there isn’t need to be super focused on the next game is what really worries me the most. A comment like that is one of contentment for minimum effort, because ‘x’ already makes profit so why try to top it or improve? Which honestly proves how R* justified the trilogy unmastered, why try if you have infinite cash flow?
They still made RDR2 which is an awesome game despite GTA Online making huge profits for them since it was released. I don't see how GTA Online's profits will result in a worse GTA VI when this wasn't the case for RDR2
@@atacansuder3384 That it is but the major lead developers are gone. Makes me doubtful that 6 will have effort put into it, the trilogy remaster set proves that they didn’t want to put in the effort. They released such an insult of a remaster, it didn’t affect their finances given it’s low sales. Meaning GTA6 could release poorly made with little effort but Online can more than easily foot the bill & still break even. So just because RDR2 is awesome doesn’t necessarily mean that that 6 will be as good. I could be wrong but R* currently has fallen from grace in my opinion.
I don't think it's a matter of effort. it's just a matter of scheduling. They can slow down and take their time with GTA 6 because they're not dependent on the cash flow it'll generate.
GTA VI Online be like: "You'll own nothing and you'll be happy.", while players fight to death with punches and sticks. Since you can't own a gun, because "who needs guns anyway? So GTA 6 will try to be even more forcefully "likeable" to the general public than GTA 5, but without the genius input of the legendary people who made this series. Yeah, no. Maybe something akin to Yakuza, where despite committing crimes, they have standards to maintain. Who knows, maybe to force players to be good samaritans, we get the Japanese difficulty from GTA SA, where any crime committed is an Automatic 1 Star, and it cannot be disabled in a mission or challenge.

Yeah, I got a feeling that the next GTA will be not what people are expecting, and probably not in a good way. I can see that the the previous GTA games and most other rockstar games had that genuine rockstar charm baked into them, probably because of the culture at the company. You can say the change is better for the employees, and I think so too, but I bet the cost of that will be the loss of much of the soul the previous titles have had. And I hadn't even thought about it but trying to make a game like GTA, set in the 2020's? That's just a formula for disaster. So much of America right now is genuinely beyond parody at this point and all the writers could do is make people feel more depressed about the state of everything. It's gone from so sad it's funny to so sad it's sad now. If I were to try and come of with a modern day premise for a GTA game, it'd have to take place somewhere other than America and it'd have to be character focused, more than setting focused, but right there a absolutely massive part of GTA is already thrown out the window with the setting driving the comedy. I cant believe I'm saying this but, I'm kinda dreading GTA VI. There are countless way this can be horrendously mishandled and I cant even think if how it could be handled well. I don't understand why GTA VI will center around a modern Miami. Isn't it sort of irrelevant? Los Angeles still has gang violence and New York is New York. The only appeal Miami could possibly have is either Scarface or Miami Vice, so GTA VI should be set in the 80s. What an odd decision.

I'm all for Rockstar becoming a better place to work, hell I don't even mind that Female Latino protagonist, but cultural insensitivity and being deliberately offensive is GTA's identity and is what put GTA and Rockstar on the map in the first place. It's going to alienate a lot of fans if this turns out to be true, so I don't think it would be a very good idea.

See, here's the thing - Recently, we had a gigantic leak from Rockstar that was confirmed, in form of Definitive Edition. So, people are now more weary about anything leaking out. Cause and effect, as simple as it is.

The statement that GTA Online made/makes so much money that there isn’t need to be super focused on the next game is what really worries me the most. Which honestly proves how R* justified the trilogy unmastered, why try if you have infinite cash flow?

They released such an insult of a remaster, it didn’t affect their finances given it’s low sales. Meaning GTA6 could release poorly made with little effort but Online can more than easily foot the bill & still break even. So just because RDR2 is awesome doesn’t necessarily mean that that 6 will be as good. I could be wrong but R* currently has fallen from grace in my opinion.

Im happy they improved their work environment to prevent crunch but I will be honest I am a bit sad production will take longer and that the game will have a smaller setting. But it is what it is its for the greater good.

That's what I've been mostly afraid of - R* being too kind and progressive. Many players did play GTA franchise because of it's corny sense of humour that laughed at all the ridicolousness surrounding us in real life.
Yeah, I got a feeling that the next GTA will be not what people are expecting, and probably not in a good way. I can see that the the previous GTA games and most other rockstar games had that genuine rockstar charm baked into them, probably because of the culture at the company. You can say the change is better for the employees, and I think so too, but I bet the cost of that will be the loss of much of the soul the previous titles have had.
And I hadn't even thought about it but trying to make a game like GTA, set in the 2020's? That's just a formula for disaster. So much of America right now is genuinely beyond parody at this point and all the writers could do is make people feel more depressed about the state of everything. It's gone from so sad it's funny to so sad it's sad now.
If I were to try and come of with a modern day premise for a GTA game, it'd have to take place somewhere other than America and it'd have to be character focused, more than setting focused, but right there a absolutely massive part of GTA is already thrown out the window with the setting driving the comedy.
I cant believe I'm saying this but, I'm kinda dreading GTA VI. There are countless way this can be horrendously mishandled and I cant even think if how it could be handled well. Setting a game in current times honestly feel tasteless. Everyone knows just how screwed everything is so what room is there for humor?

rdr2 had gone through several rewrites, big and small, damn near up until it went gold. gta 5 did as well. it’s rumored that gta 6 was completely rebooted after housers departure. that doesn’t necessarily mean they started from scratch, but they changed a LOT
gta online is delaying gta 6 so that the devs have more time to put the systems in place for the foundation that will be gta online 2.0 shortly after gta 6 is released. gta 6 will not be a bad game, but i have a feeling it will be as forgettable and streamlined as gta 5. it will still feel as if sarwar, houser, benzies and jones worked on it. definitely can’t say the same for anything created by rockstar after this title though
i was under the impression that once they release their 2 biggest titles ever (biggest games industry titles ever) rdr 2 & gta 6, they’d finally go back to releasing sequels to their smaller IPs such as manhunt or bully. that absolutely will not happen after seeing the article. these are the housers ideas, their passion projects. with how different the company has become, removing trans and gay insults out of fear of backlash, removing haitian insults from the vice city demaster out of fear of backlash, there is zero chance you will see a game by rockstar where you play as a highschool student that has the opportunity to beat a young female student to the ground. there is zero chance you will see a game by rockstar where you’re the result of a government experiment gone horribly wrong, where you black out and brutally murder your wife and children, and anyone in your way while searching for answers. or a game where you’re providing footage for a snuff film ring that’s then sold to the criminal elite
no. never. i don’t think gta 6 will be as pc as others say it will, but after this title, definitely

If a frat club studio filled with testosterone led us to dozens of good games and a compassionate progressive studio gave us one game in 7 years then i think anyone knows what's better for entertainment, the only problem would be the crunch time so that the talented devs do not go away which they did back in Redemption and the replacements haven't been up to scratch.

Crunching is bad, yeah, they can AND have to change that but changing the core and soul of the GTA saga, the parody of society, it's like censoring God of War because it's too bloody.
New God of War technically was sanitized compared to the older ones so its already happened.

If the company became incredibly successful and created masterpieces being run as a frat house, then trying to change the culture in order to bring it in line with other conventionally run companies doesn't sound like a bright idea to me at all.
