Shout out to Louis Quigley for getting the teaser (measure 47 in the sousaphone part), and especially to Tom York again for being off by only one measure. Sorry lol I had to mislead you or else everyone would’ve gotten it, really impressive either way!
Reading the desc "I may or may not have spent 15 minutes on just measure 98." my brain instantly goes "prob during something Leo plays" Needless to say I wasn't surprised Great transciption though, as usual
At measure 76, the sousa is playing those As an octave lower; however it sounds like he's singing into it while playing which gives the multiphonic of the A thats written
Thank you so much for this sheet music, even though I'm not the best trumpet player since I've only started 2 weeks ago, I love coming home from my school learning how to play these pieces.look forward to when I come home is watching one of your vids and playing along. Even though I'm not the best as I can only hit a high a, I view it as satisfactory progress in my challenge of being good enough for trying out my school's jazz band next year.
LOL! 🤣😂 Probably might even need the treble clef to be honest! I know bassoons and cellos use it for their extreme high notes, but not 100% sure if tenor trombones would do the same.
Hey, i am a saxophone player and i was wondering how the barri saxophonist and the saxophone player did the "squeak sliding" thing. Idk what else to call it
@@aylinbaltzell499 I'm not really sure how it works, but you crack up to an overtone and just gliss up the whole overtone series using your tongue and throat
@@machinescapes thanks, i will need to play around with this and see if i can get something similar. A friend i asked a while back told me he was singing a harmonic to the note, does the gliss up with overtones, and sings as he does that. I have some testing to do
As someone unfamiliar with sousaphones: is the sousaphone meant to be that quiet, is the microphone crap or is the guy just unable to play well (unlikely, I know, but still a possibility).
Well, it can be loud or soft, blasty or smooth. I think that the way it sounds in the video is meant to be that way, and personally(as a tuba/sousa player) it fits the song perfectly. IMO he is a great sousa player, better than i will ever be. But that's my opinion, it's fine if you disagree
Some guys in my school playing this in talent show and the trombone player is trash.. this guy when moving like that makes it smoother and also it sounds WAY better to do it like that

Can anyone tell me how to get that 'grungy' sound out of my tenor at 2:58?

I think the trombone part starting at 99 might be better off written in tenor clef.

Honestly who the hell can even read tenor clef tho

I feel like the trombone part is written in the wrong octave. It sounds really low for the high B’s
what part?
No, good players just make it sound easy. I thought the same thing. High Bb really isn't high in the scheme of things
