Hey man, I’m super happy to hear that that works out for you. Enjoy the new set up.. I’ve been seeing motor guides get all glitchy and act up and quite honestly for as long as I’ve had the minn kotta it still works flawlessly. I hope you put a video showing action on your boat or Kayak whatever you have. Thank you for the support and have a great week and good luck on your fishing trip.
Thanks for the video! After watching I did the same upgrade on my 2010 Powerdrive V2. My only difference is was the motor head sizes are different (existing top & bottom are smaller) so in my kit I got both the bottom and top pieces. I also got white colored because of inventory shortages. I thought of waiting for the black color but from what I've read these upgrade kits are becoming harder to find because of course Minn Kota would really prefer you just buy a new motor that comes with the I pilot. I had thought of spray painting the head black but after getting it together I kind of like the unique look.
Thats exactly What i was going through. I was debating from waiting for the matching colors. In the end It stands out more than the other motors. I just call it the skunk motor now. cause it looks like a skunk stripe. lol Thanks for watching I'm Glad this information became useful from some people watching. Tight lines Sir.
Outstanding video, Austin. I have a plain Minn Kota Powerdrive 55 -54'' BT Electric-Steer Bow-Mount Trolling Motor with Digital Maximizer, 55 lbs Thrust, 54" Shaft on my Pontoon. Do you think this kit works for my Powerdrive? Thank you!
There’s a good chance it will work. But do yourself a solid. Contact this company. Below and they will give the full upgrade capabilities on your specific motor. I hope you’re able to get it updated as quickly and efficiently as I did. My motor has been running solid for over some time. Now. I may tear it down again just to clean up the contacts and maybe add in a fresh set of brushes, along with a new seal kit. Thanks for watching I really appreciate your views. Very glad it helped you in the consideration of upgrading, lakesidemarineandservice.com/collections/ipilot-upgrade-kits
Great how to video Austin. I have been thinking about putting my small boat i-pilot on the yak but worry about battery life? Can you get a full day with 100AH lithium? Thanks buddy👍
So For the Hobie Id honestly suggest "if you can" a motorguide. or rear mount propulsion. I suggest this due to the fact its is lighter by probably 15 to 20 pounds. However the minn kota with spotlock is pretty neat overall. minus the weight. For Battery life I have been getting an average about over 8 hours of use that's with stop and go usage in fishing. Now one thing I will also mention is that my lower unit on my trolling motor has seen better days. I have an additional videos coming up where i do a complete rebuild on my armature for the min kotta. I have now a new armature for the motor and it will help with providing better thrust at lower voltage use also. In return I suspect I will get even better mileage out of it. But thanks Keith for chiming in always appreciate chatting with everyone. Tight lines!

Did you shorten the shaft yourself?
Hey there. Yes I did. Measured twice and cut once with the good ole Hacksaw. Thanks for watching.
