Oh Solar Mio: Outcome B

This video comes from the Foundations for Safety Leadership (FSL) program, in particular the Foundations for Safety Leadership for Residential Construction (FSL4Res) training. FSL4Res is designed to provide crew leaders on residential projects leadership skills they can use to improve jobsite safety climate.
Outcome B: Ferris, the foreman, had developed a lift plan for a solar carport job, but only a crane with less capacity was available. (See Oh Solar Mio: Main Scenario.) Ferris asks two crew members, Ethan and Emily, to get the slings set up on the structure. When Emily says she is concerned about the size of the crane, Ferris brings the crew together to explain his decision to postpone the lift. Ferris thanks Emily in front of the crew and adds that he appreciates it when crew members act as safety leaders.
Leadership Skills: In Outcome B (see also Outcome A), Ferris leads by example, actively listens to Emily’s concerns, and empowers her when he decides to stop the job until the proper equipment is available. He also recognizes Emily for having the courage to speak up and for being a valuable team member.
