I've always wanted to switch out my bonavita for the fellow for the simple reason that it looks gorgeous. This video makes me appreciate having it even more so I'll keep working on my pouring technique and consistency with my current bonavita keelte until then.
Very informative video. I personally use the Fellow, but I’ve always been interested in how it compares to the Bonavita (especially because the price gap is quite large).
Good review! Just got the Fellow recently as I just stick to doing pourovers but may look into bonavita down the road. I have another kettle, which is the ampato stove kettle for those faster pours. I've been using that specifically for your v60 or origami recipe and the results are awesome! Keep on with the good content!
I didn't go with Fellow mainly because I need a kettle for tea, cooking, etc. as well. In these cases I want a faster pour. And having two kettles is just silly.
Yes bonavita really kinda hard to adjust. How much water really gives big impact on the flow. Now I change to timemore kettle which gives stabil flowrate similar to fellow
Also check out the TIMEMORE FISH ELECTRIC POUR OVER KETTLE. It is very restricted flow in a similar way to the Fellow, the display is LED and not glitchy at all, butt a bit softly lit. I am very happy with it, although it's low capacity.
I bought it few weeks ago. The looks is similar to Stagg, but I think Timemore is better designed (not having a hot part in the handle, upper holes is not placed on the lid so it reduces the chance of spilling, etc).
No one ever mentions temp accuracy with kettle. Would a kettle that is filled below 25% capacity show a higher temp? That is, the less it is filled the more steam will be created thereby affecting temp inside?
Most of the "probes" in kettles sit where the spout begins so the reading shouldn't be affected. However, a 100% full kettle vs a 50% full kettle will keep the temperature differently. Same as a pre-heated kettle vs a non-pre-heated kettle will behave differently.
Just for the hack, if u only have bonavita for competition and for some reason u cant work with your accuracy of pouring, bonavita come with water restrictor rubber on below part of it heater. So u dont have to worry about pouring water to much.

The bonavita’s range is really great for brewing loose leaf tea gong fu style in addition to brewing different coffee methods or roasts.
I do find the pour can be a bit slow for certain teas.
Good video, thanks from London 👍😎🏴

Cool! Coincidentally, I have both of these myself.

Very interesting. thanks
Some say that there is flow restrictors in Bonavita (plastic ones)

@@harnusa I agree.
How do you think Artisan Electric Gooseneck Kettle compare those in your review?

I mean, flow restrictor
What kind of espresso machine was that?
It’s a modbar system from La Marzocco
A V60 fits on top of the Bonavita. BOOM!
