In all of the time I have spent taxing a C-130 (same engines btw) I have never heard this music on the ramp. I really must say the US-2 is a remarkable and beautiful aircraft. Wish I had a chance to fly one back in the day.
It also has a separate engine(same engine in the superlynx)for boundary layer control. I read the aircraft can cruise at speeds as low as 40kmh 😂.. Hughes would be proud.... spruce goose anyone?
Just found out that it was design in 1953 and proto type completed in 1957. Full production in 1976 after various vigirous test of aeroplane production. Amazing Japan is capable to design and built it 55 years ago of highiest capablity of amphibous aeroplane that still worth till today. Upgrading it avionic system is nessary as all the analog are obselete as time pass by to digital era
The performance is because of "blown wing" tech. They get a CL of 7.7, which compares to a Cessna 172 at 2 and Boeing/airbus as 3.2. It has a turbine and a blower in the tail that blows air into the flaps and turns the flow down with the flaps and keeps the flow attached. This is why is can take off in 900 feet...
My favorite amphibian! Amazing take off and landing performance. There is even a three sketch of a proposed 100-seat passenger version. That would have been something to see on the ramp parked amongst ATR’s, Dash-8’s, regional jets and 737’s!
Excelente hidroavion !!!muy buena la solucion del efecto suelo con los alerones más anchos y el motor a reacción en la cola,el señalador de objetivos láser soluciona estupendame el trabajo de rotar el avion al hubicar naufragos.👍👍👍
If you trace the heritage of the flying boat actually starts with the H8K Emily flying boat. Post War the manufacturer decided to evolve it by taking engines from American Military hardware US-1 which was taking H8K Emily flying boat airframe with pave low GE T407s and then this one US-2 which is your H8K Emily flying boat airframe with AE2100s from C-130J
I love it. In my opinion the best actual seaplane in the world. Great range, unbelieveable STOL abilities and truely amphibius. I think if they do better marketing, they could sell it much more worldwide. And if they could sell more it will also get cheaper (because it is awfully expensive)
Looks like the makers of this aircraft have discovered an effective anti-gravity device? How in the world does it lift off in 300 meters? In a mere 10 seconds, or so, too. "Blown wings"? I need to do some research. What an incredible aircraft.
Didn't you have the mic on when you recorded this?? I know, I'll film a plane taking off to share online with plane enthusiasts but I won't give them the engine sounds!
They are Rolls Royce turboprops, 4,600 shaft horsepower each; same engines and propellers that the C-130J is equipped with. The US-2 is probably the "most capable" amphibian seaplane ever developed. It's stall speed is incredibly slow for such a huge airplane; less than 55 knots.
I had not scene this video about how quickly (short distance) this aircraft can exit the water surface. Now if they could make a version of this as a fire fighting aircraft I would buy one.
Hi, excuse me Is it OK if I use a clip of your content in my own video..? I will mark that it's your credit filming this, and provide a link to the video
While this video might have been better without that music, I would love to be able to play that first bit of guitar. Unsure if you are looking at these comments, but please tell me this song!
Apparently it's 3 different songs: first is "Blackout Safari" by Jonathan MT, second is "Sekhet" by LordValGaming and last one is "Birds in flight" by Suzy. Or at least that's what Shazam says 😅 Hope it helps 😀
Just like a Short Sunderland on take off -first aircraft I ever flew in and it was in its day a huge aircraft -you could pack over 80 people into it and still take off and land in the sea river or lake -even land in a resevoir .
Correct and in reality the US-2 is your WW II H8K Emily airframe modified to use C-130J engines US-1 was H8K airframe with Pave Low engines. Basically, for post-war Japanese flying boats, they take H8K airframe and put US military engines on them. For 2023-2024 modernized Sunderland it needs A400M engines that way Western Europe along with Japan have answers to Moscow and Beijing's duopoly on Flying Boats.
Those engines sound amazing, almost like some dude playing a guitar!
😂 😂 😂
Lol
This made me laugh
😂😂😂
Well nobody here likes aircraft noise so...
Yes, I've never seen a flying boat that needs such a extreme short "runway" to take off. An amazing tech of flying boat.

Bat 22 these are brand new

This is US2.US1 is the older version.
This has a lot of looks of previous amphibians but has many added features especially the lift feature.

Not sure I understand but sounds awesome
Exacto, un gusto leer comentario de alguien que también sabe .👍👍
Wtf is with the music. I want to hear the props man.
The props sound like a guitar

I can only imagine the absolute JOY that US-2 pilots and crew feel in this amazing bird.

So much better with the sound OFF!
The ultimate search and rescue craft us coast guard should adopt this time on station has to be awesome!

Excellent music choice !
Thank you for a fantastic video. I’m working to try to get California to buy these for firefighting.
China
Ag-600
Amazing short take off for such a monster.
It's like a B-52 in the unusual way the fuselage is horizontal when climbing. Excellent video!

"Blown wings"? I need to do some research. What an incredible aircraft.
На нём, ни 4, а 5 двигателей. Пятый, (турбина), создаёт разрежение, что и позволяет взлетать с очень короткого пробега.
ShinMaywa for Turkey !! 🇹🇷🤝🇯🇵
Wow! It just jumps out of the water!
Wow what a performer!
Seems there was an error with the upload missing the original sound.
great choice for the bgm
Music makes it feel like it should be taking off from a lake in northern Minnesota
Wow, it would be nice to see Seaplanes in our NZ waters againn
Cant a man watch a video with music without being interrupted by footage of an airplane anymore?
Didn't you have the mic on when you recorded this?? I know, I'll film a plane taking off to share online with plane enthusiasts but I won't give them the engine sounds!
Why is music in aircraft videos a thing?
Would’ve been nice to hear what it sounds like
I want to hear those RR engines damnit!
That's an amazing seaplane !! Powerful engines obviously for such a short takeoff roll 👍🇺🇸 Well done 👍

Holy frick that takeoff was *powerful*
Airborne in 10 seconds. Is that empty or fully loaded ?
I wanted to hear the engine sound :(
Very❤ nice

Изумительная машина! Замечательный борт!
When it does a water takeoff, they leave a heck of a water spray trail after getting airborne. It seems to last for miles.
Who converted the c130 into a flying boat
The Martin Mars (Max takeoff weight: 165,000 lb) is a giant seaplane; the US-2 is a large seaplane.
Kawanishi H8K
Max takeoff weight: 71,650 lb
Why on Earth you overlayed the sound of the aircraft with music ?????
While this video might have been better without that music, I would love to be able to play that first bit of guitar.
Unsure if you are looking at these comments, but please tell me this song!

Totally spoiled. Please PLEASE get rid of the music!!!
These aircraft launch like a rocket
It's got it's Grumpy Face on as it waddles into the water. Must be cold.
Its important to make sure you tuck those wheels away BEFORE you try to take off. And yes .that bloody muzak wtf !😑
Would be a great video if I could here the plane and some garbage music
Actually the engine sound is the music, a lot of people think its a music but thats actually how engines sound like someone playing a 🎸.
just as cute as its older brother.
H8K? 😬
@@maxklinger1494 Mavis!
Better if let the engines sound instead music.
Last Of The Flying Boats Still operational
Самолёт, очень интересный. А музыка, - раздражает.
Another good video ruined with music.
get past the fluffy music.

I wonder how they keep the water out of the intakes in rough seas?
Lame video without those engines roaring.....
the navy should really get a flying boat
Amazing.
I want one too!!!
Howard Hughes , spruce goose seaplane flys in 1938
Lifts off fast
Just the good ol' boys
Never meanin' no harm
Beats all you've never saw, been in trouble with the law
Since the day they was born

あなたの国にも1ついかがですか?
Who the Hell put this video together ? Fricking music ruins it.
It is an Amphibian !
You will probably play a kiss song, shout it out loud, at the funeral.
Those who chose this music have broken brains.
Calm down
I like soft guitar. I like four RR turboprops singing better.
Use this as a private plane to go to your lake house
I want one!
annoying song, just let the motors roar.
Ditch the background music ...
El sonido del avión no lo oigo
Should kill that music.Want to hear engines, props, gee whiz
Wonderful seaplane, awful music.
WHY THE FUCK are you putting music over ENGINE NOISE?!
Music background sucks especially when showcasing military hardware
The ShinMaywa US-2, like the US-1, bears a strong resemblance to the cold war era, U.S. Navy, Martin P5M-2 "Marlin."
This aircraft is based on the Kawanishi H8K of the Imperial Japanese Navy.
Whats the point of the nonsensical music? Instant turn off and thumbs down.
It's a flying boat, not a seaplane.
Under make in india
Dead stop in water
Music? 👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻
It's not giant at all.
It has the largest capacity of all amphibious aircraft currently in production now
@@Ngspacetrain Still not "giant". About the same wingspan as a Catalina.
It’s pretty amazing how technology in 2023 is allllllll Soviet technology
